While towing a loaded horse trailer, I received a red "trailer brake" warning light on the instrument cluster indicating that the trailer brakes were no longer connected. I confirmed that the trailer brakes were not working by attempting to activate them manually with the trailer brake controller. There was no response from the controller and no brakes on the trailer functioned. Within about 3-4 minutes of the trailer brake issue, I also lost all trailer lights on the trailer. When this happened, I decided to pull over in a safe area and attempt to check the trailer connections. All trailer connections were securely installed, free from any damage, and had functioned flawlessly for days prior. I was forced to continue to my destination without trailer brakes or trailer lights despite being stuck in a substantially strong thunderstorm with heavy rain and low visibility. When I reached my destination, I called my selling dealership to report the issue. I was told by the service advisor that they had "hundreds" of trucks on a wait list and that Ram was only sending them one repair part per week. He also stated that they hadn't recently received any parts and had no idea when more would become available. Their only suggestion was to "call and complain" to corporate, and that there was nothing more they could do. This incident with truck occurred on March 20th 2026. I had already called the dealership on March 6th after discovering (via NHTSA site) that my truck had been flagged for the trailer brake control recall. The dealership gave me the same response previously. "We have hundreds of trucks but no parts, call back in four weeks". At that point, I had not received any official documentation of a trailer brake control module recall from Ram. I did not receive my official letter from Ram until March 21st, the day after my incident.

On Friday evening, while driving my new Ram 1500 Tungsten on a freeway, the engine warning light illuminated and the vehicle suddenly lost power. I was traveling at highway speed at the time. Almost immediately after the loss of power, gasoline began pooling underneath the truck. Because of the visible fuel leak and strong gasoline odor, my wife and I exited the vehicle and stood well away from it due to the potential fire risk. We were stranded on the side of a busy freeway in the dark for over an hour while waiting for a tow truck. The vehicle was ultimately towed to a Ram dealership. The truck had approximately 3,766 miles on it at the time of the incident. As of the date of this report, the vehicle has been at the dealership for 6 days and has not yet been inspected or diagnosed. I personally visited the dealership and observed that the vehicle is still sitting in the same location where it was placed when it was towed in. This incident involved a sudden loss of power on a freeway combined with an active fuel leak, which created a potentially dangerous situation due to the risk of fire and the hazard of being stranded in traffic. The vehicle is nearly new and had fewer than 4,000 miles at the time of the failure.

The contact owns a 2025 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving downhill in the mountains at approximately 50 MPH and pulling a 2024 Ember 190MSL Overland RV, the brake pedal was depressed, and the vehicle decelerated as intended; however, the trailer brakes failed to engage, causing the RV to roll sideways and to crash into the rear of the vehicle. The RV's weight distribution was fractured, causing the front end of the vehicle to spin against the guard rail and to face the opposite direction. The contact shifted to Park(P). The RV's weight distribution pinned the muffler, and the bed panel of the vehicle was damaged during the crash. Additionally, the vehicle sustained front-end damage. The check engine warning light was illuminated after the crash. The air bags did not deploy. The were no reported injuries. The vehicle was towed to an autobody repair shop, where it was being repaired. The RV was towed and totaled. The insurance company accident reconstruction specialist confirmed that the accident had occurred due to trailer brakes failure. The contact learned about NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V059000(Exterior Lighting, Electrical System) in the news and confirmed that the VIN was included. The contact related the failure to the recall. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was contacted and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 3,290.

When I receive an alert for approaching emergency vehicle EVAS (Emergency Vehicle Alert System) powered by HAAS, the audio is completely muted on my radio and the only way to fix it is to manually reset the radio, which requires digging into the menu, taking eyes off the road, it's the opposite of safe. My audio will not work after receiving one of these alerts until the radio is reset.

As I was driving at 55mph on the hwy I started smelling gas. I thought it was the car in front of me so I was just going to pass him, but quickly realized I did not have the power to pass another car. So I pulled over on the highway and got out of my truck and noticed flames dripping from the center of the vehicle by looking at the front driver wheel area. I tried to put out with a fire extinguisher that a bystander had given me, but it was just too late in the truck was engulfed in flames.

I am writing to formally escalate a serious and ongoing defect involving my Ram 1500. Despite multiple repair attempts at an authorized dealership, the issue has not been resolved. The vehicle repeatedly shuts off unexpectedly, which creates a significant safety risk while driving. I have already taken the vehicle to the dealership three separate times to address this problem, and the defect continues to persist. Because the dealership has been unable to properly repair the vehicle after multiple attempts, I am requesting that this matter be immediately escalated to a regional case manager and a Ram Field Technical Specialist for review. In addition, I would like to formally report a very concerning interaction with your customer care department. When I contacted customer care to seek assistance regarding this issue, the representative I spoke with was extremely rude and unprofessional. During the call, the agent refused to provide her name or identification when I asked, and the call ended with the representative hanging up the phone while I was still trying to address my concerns. This experience was very disappointing and did not reflect the level of customer service I expected. Given the repeated repair attempts and the ongoing safety concern, this situation may qualify under the New York Lemon Law. If the defect cannot be resolved promptly, I will pursue the remedies available under the New York Lemon Law, including a possible vehicle replacement or manufacturer buyback. Please contact me as soon as possible with a case number and the next steps to resolve this matter.

Ram recall 03D, NHTSA-26V-059. The Ram dealer stated replacement "trailer control modules" will be installed in unsold units first, not existing owners of sold units. My vehicle has NOT been repaired. The Ram app states my recall issue is resolved- it is not. I cannot safely and legally tow my trailer because of this issue. Stellantis needs to be held accountable as the manufacturer WAS aware of this issue before I was allowed to purchase the truck.

Feb 25, 2026Transmission & drivetrainEngineFuel system

There have been systemic cylinder misfires (each cylinder), anomalous electrical architecture behavior, and transmission calibration irregularities. The check engine light indicated multiple cylinder misfires, which I understand from the dealer is a common issue with the 2025 model. As the driver, there are a few major issues: Chassis Vibration-pronounced shaking or shuddering transmitted through the steering wheel and seat, particularly during the first engine start of the day or idling. Idle Instability-An erratic or surging idle, where the tachometer needle fluctuates noticeably without any throttle input. Throttle Hesitation-A distinct stumble, lethargy, or loss of power when attempting to accelerate from a stop or while merging. It also requires more energy to accelerate, and stops faster. This problem has been addressed at three (3) CDJR dealerships now, and is still ongoing. The car only has 26k miles on it.

How to use these: a complaint is one owner’s report, filed voluntarily and published unverified. Patterns matter more than any single story.
