What 294 owners told NHTSA about the 2025 Ram Ram 1500 Quad Cab

The vehicle has experienced repeated failures involving the gear shifter system, electrical system, battery system, and vehicle drive mode controls. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. The most serious incident occurred when the vehicle unexpectedly entered Off-Road mode without any driver input while the truck was in motion at low speed. I did not intentionally activate Off-Road mode. The vehicle immediately became difficult to maneuver and did not respond normally. Steering and vehicle behavior changed unexpectedly, requiring repeated forward and reverse movements to safely position the truck. I was concerned about losing control of the vehicle. Had this occurred at highway speeds or in traffic, it could have resulted in a crash, injury, or property damage. In addition to this incident, the vehicle has experienced multiple gear shifter failures that have rendered the truck undrivable on numerous occasions. The truck has been returned to the dealership multiple times for diagnosis and repair of the shifter system. The vehicle has also experienced battery-related failures requiring roadside assistance on two occasions and a tow to a dealership. The problems have been reproduced through repeated occurrences requiring dealership service. The vehicle has been inspected by authorized Ram dealerships on multiple occasions and repair attempts have been performed. The manufacturer, Stellantis/Ram, has also been notified through a customer assistance case. I do not recall receiving any warning that the vehicle would unexpectedly enter Off-Road mode prior to the incident. However, the vehicle has displayed various warning messages and symptoms associated with prior shifter and battery failures. Exact warning messages are unknown. The vehicle has required multiple repair attempts for safety-related issues and has been out of service for extended periods. I am concerned that the unexpected activation of Off-Road and other issues could result in accidents

A fuse box burnt up while driving in down town Chicago at 35mph causing no power to steer and loss of braking. The vehicle only stopped because it ran off the road hitting a pothole there was total loss of power. towed to the dealer Ram claims it was a burnt fuse box and there is still electrical issues with the truck its not fixed truck has approximately 11,000 miles still under factory warranty with no aftermarket products installed to the electrical system.

While driving on the highway, I first noticed the vehicle becoming difficult to steer. The steering felt unusually heavy and sluggish, as if power steering assistance was reduced or failing. Shortly after this began, multiple warning lights illuminated across the dashboard. At that point, braking performance also became severely compromised. The brake pedal felt soft and traveled nearly to the floor with very limited stopping power. The vehicle required significantly increased distance to slow and stop, creating a serious safety hazard in active highway traffic. The combination of reduced steering assist and severely degraded braking performance made the vehicle difficult to control and presented a significant safety risk. I was able to bring the vehicle to a stop and it was later towed to a dealership. At the time of inspection, the battery was found to be dead. I had recently returned from a 5-day trip and the vehicle required a jump start before this driving event. The dealership replaced the battery and stated the vehicle was operating normally after repair. However, the incident involved progressive loss of steering assist followed by significant loss of braking performance at highway speed. I am reporting this as a serious safety concern because multiple critical vehicle control systems were affected while driving. I am concerned about potential recurrence of this issue and the risk it presents to driver and public safety. The vehicle is available for inspection.

I just bought a new Ram Rebel X 2025 in September. I have 7K miles and the front tires are shot due to factory misalignment! Local dealership South Hills Dodge is ZERO HELP. I opened a case with RAM. They said…“You have to drop off your truck at the dealership before we can escalate your case to a case manager”. My truck has been sitting outside the dealership since I dropped it off on Monday 4-27 and hasn’t moved!! The dealership initially said they would cover an alignment under warranty free of charge but not cover 2 new tires which were caused by the misalignment. They then told me I would have to open a case with RAM in order to get the tires paid for. In the meantime, I asked the service manager if he could get me the current alignment readings. He then lied to me and told me they weren’t able to take the current alignment measurements due to the fact that the front tires were so badly worn. I then took it to my local mechanic to get the current alignment readings without fixing anything so I could have this sheet for my records. It not only shows the toe being out of spec on both front tires but shows the Caster being out of spec. Therefore it was set that way when I purchased the vehicle brand new back in September. I talked to my case manager who was never able to get ahold of the dealership!! I was also never able to get a response to multiple questions through their text service. Finally they reach out after my vehicle sat for 4 days and say I have to pay 19.95 for a tire rotation in order to do the alignment. I then chose to take my vehicle to Jim Shorkey and they fix some recalls and RRTs but “needed to talk w case mgr about tire coverage” So then I have it out with this case manager about the amount of time and money I’ve wasted so far and in a nutshell he tells me that the first dealer said tires were not covered under warranty so they can’t cover them! Basically I was sent in a circle of wasted time by RAM corporation “customer service”!!!

My 2025 Ram 1500 Big Horn, ~6,000 miles) experienced a steering-assist failure and then a ruptured coolant hose that sprayed coolant over electronics. Dealer (Hendrick Hoover) refused warranty service and instructed me to leave their property. Ram Customer Care told me to drive the unsafe truck home while my child was onboard. The vehicle is now inoperable and unsafe. I have photos and video of the leak and the dealer refusing service. I request an urgent safety investigation and that NHTSA notify Stellantis that my vehicle presents a clear safety risk.

Upon starting my vehicle, numerous warning lamps/messages appeared to include: - "Service Electronic Stability Control" - "4WD System Temporarily Unavailable" - "Auto Emergency Braking (AEB) Off" - "Blind Spot Alert Unavailable Service Required" (the blind spot indicator lights on the side mirrors were also illuminated) In addition to the above warnings, I no longer had electronic power steering, making the vehicle nearly impossible to turn. Thankfully I was parked when all of this occurred. Had I been driving, the loss of power steering alone could have been catastrophic. I shut down the vehicle hoping that the issues would resolve upon restart. Unfortunately they did not. It took multiple more shutdowns/restarts and approximately 20 minutes before the problems disappeared and the vehicle seemed to be functioning properly. I immediately drove the vehicle to the dealership for service. As of this writing, they have not been able to replicate the problem nor find a cause.

The contact depressed the brake pedal, and the pedal was very soft. The contact stated that there were several unknown warning lights illuminated. The contact drove the vehicle back to the residence and then had the vehicle towed to a dealer. The dealer was unable to diagnose the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. Additionally, the contact stated that there was an electrical failure and the radio failed to shutoff after turning off and exiting the vehicle. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 3,400.

Purchased this Ram 1500 Tradesman 04/14/2025. Upon highway driving noticed a severe pull to the right at speed 70 mph. Called dealer to explain the problem and they suggested an alignment that was done on 05/01/2025. Dealer said numbers were green alignment was good. I did highway test again same problem pulling to right. Returned to dealer at 618 miles 05/07/2025 for reset electronic power steering module TSB 08 093 25. Problem still there. At 900 miles and 1500 miles truck was at 2 different dealers for alignments. Problem still there. From what I’ve been told there’s no service bulletin from Ram that addresses problem.This truck is a true disaster waiting to happen. After 52 years of driving I never drove a vehicle this hard to control.After reading Ram forums about this issue I know I’m not the only driver who has this problem. Just hope this issue is resolved before someone gets seriously injured or worse. Need someone from Stellantis or Ram to investigate this NOW!!

Purchase truck and noticed on test drive steering wheel was off centered to the right by about 10-15 degrees.When Lane Assist was activated truck would drift right only to be alerted by the assist which would over correct steering to the left side of the lane.Lane Assist would just continue this effort to keep truck center.Truck has been aligned twice already and steering is still off centered to right.Back again to different dealership and tech ran EPS Flash and ran a steering angle calibration on EPS.Still not correct.Stored code was found as well C121A-00 Steering Angle Sensor not Initialized.Will continue working with dealerships till a solution has been found by engineering at RAM.I wish RAM would put this on a high priority fix, because I cannot use my Lane Assist safety feature.Due to steering issue..

Brand new vehicle. From day one pulls to the right. Flimsy steering. I always find myself having to drive below speed limit. Unsafe at speed limit especially on country roads. Also ends up being unsafe as I have to drive slower. Multiple other drivers confirmed this issue in my vehicle. Daily drive female, no offroad use or work use, no accidents. 1500 miles now on the odo. Problem from day one. Intend to take to dealer soon but wanted to make report especially there are other users complaints online and it is a serious matter. Several times almost lost control. Vehicle constantly pulls to the right. I thought it was an alignment issue so i took it to the dealer for an alignment, they adjusted one parameter then gave me the alignment report showing that it's all fine. When i complained it still pulls to the right they took it in for a second service. That service the "reprogrammed the steering module" which is different from the prior model year. This made zero difference and the car still pulls to the right. It is annoying below 60 MPH where it essentially nudges you to the right and dangerous above 70MPH. I am in Texas and we have a local toll road with an 80MPH speed limit so the speeds i described are an everyday travel situation here, not speeding or being reckless. If i drive holding the wheel straight with one hand for example on a perfectly straight piece of road and let go of the wheel for less than a second to reposition my hand the car veers to the right. If i let go for 2 seconds at 65mph it leaves the lane I was curious how long it would take my other car to leave the lane, i did that experiment on the same road. It took 10 seconds before it even got close to the line. Same stretch of road, similar weather. This is not weather related. This behavior occurs at all times, various temperatures. In total i have about 1100 miles on the new car. I think this car needs an urgent mandatory recall and a stop sale. This car should not have been sold to us in this condition this is unacceptable and unsafe. I found some threads online detailing this issue very similarly. Seems all the issues have different tolerances, but all about the same experience. [XXX] another thread. [XXX] Dealer says there is nothing else they can do until RAM issues a fix. I purchased a brand new truck, and within a week it died while I was driving. Check engine light came on, follow by battery power saving mode light, automatic stop/stop service disabled, touch screen for radio became unresponsive. I quickly turned settings to look at battery voltage while I was trying to pull over off the road. Saw it drop from 11 volts down to 9 volts while I was driving. As I was turning into a parking lot to get somewhere safe the power to the truck turned off, and I lost power steering. Truck came to a stop in a parking but I was blocking traffic. Tow truck driver was able to jump the battery to get it onto a tow truck. I had the vehicle towed back to the dealer. They scanned the truck, and there were alot of codes thrown. They have been talking to Stellantis Engineers to figure out the problem. I was told by dealer that for certain it is a broken wire causing the batteries not to charge. That wasn't it. I am now being told it is the battery control module, and they have ordered parts. I have checked ram forums, and there are a lot of people reporting similar issues of brand new trucks dying within a few hundred miles of purchasing. replacing the batteries, and alternators. However, the truck dies again shortly after.

Brand new 2025 Ram 1500 Bighorn/Lonestar purchased on 10/24/24. From day 1 it pulls to the right at highways speeds. The dealer has tried to fix the issue with alignment two times, but not luck, they don’t know what is wrong because all the numbers in alignment are green and good. There are several online posts that are talking about this issue with the 2025 Ram 1500s. Also in regard to my truck greeting light feature, the service advisisor said the technician claims it is not a feature on the Bighorn/Lonestar trims, but I believe it is. If it wasn't a feature, then I wouldn't have those options in my settings. I also discovered something interesting about this. At night, after turning my truck off - but without pressing the key fob, LOCK button, if I press the key fob UNLOCK button, the headlights and taillights come on (as per the featured settings) like they are supposed to do. However, if I press the key fob LOCK button first (1 or 2 presses - it doesn't matter), when I press the key fob UNLOCK button, the headlights and taillights do not turn on (as per the featured settings) like they are supposed to. Again, I believe this is a software issue, but could be related to the headlight module that I am seeing being reported online as well.
