About Will It Car
Buying a used car means making a four- or five-figure decision with information supplied almost entirely by the person selling it to you. The data that could balance things — every defect complaint and recall the U.S. government has collected for decades — sits in public databases most buyers have never heard of, in formats nobody wants to read on a dealer lot.
Will It Car reads it for you. Pick a car, and we turn NHTSA’s raw records into one honest verdict — Buy, Caution, or Avoid — plus the things that actually help: what breaks, around what mileage, which recalls to verify, and what to make the seller prove.
The rules we operate by
- The math is public. Every weight and threshold is on the methodology page.
- No pay-to-play. Nobody can buy a score, a badge, or a placement in the verdict.
- Affiliate links are labeled and rendered after the verdict is computed — never the other way around.
- Owner reviews stay separate from the data score. Divergence is shown, not smoothed.
- Limits are stated. Where the data is thin or young, we say “limited data” instead of inventing confidence.
Will It Car is informational only — not mechanical, legal, or purchasing advice. Data: NHTSA (public domain). Always get an independent pre-purchase inspection.
