In November of 2021 the transmission started clunking and having difficulty shifting gears. It became worse as a week's progressed I took it to the dealership where they claimed it was a recurring problem in the 10 speed transmission so they claim to have rebuilt the valve body. I obtained the vehicle back after a week and it seemed to run fine over the next 10 months and now the last 2 months It has started again and gotten worse. I currently now have an appointment at the Ford dealer next Monday the 23rd of January 2023. This is my only vehicle and not having it for a week now 2 weeks is unacceptable.

The contact's friend owns a 2017 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while her friend was driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle started decelerating, rattling, and then stalled. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the cam phaser needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact’s friend was informed that the vehicle was out of warranty due to the mileage. The failure mileage was approximately 201,202.

i have a 2017 Ford F-150 I bought in April 2022 with 113,000 miles on it. I need a turn signal bulb replace on the passenger side and that was done and then I found out I have a recall on the vehicle since May 2022. Never received a recall letter-nothing! Now I find out that I have a water pump leak, oil pan issues, gasket by the motor is leaking. I have had the vehicle less than a year now have 119,000 miles on it and have all of these problems and the dealership did admit that the F-150 Ford truck have had and are known for oil pan leaking issues and have not let anyone know. Underneath my truck it was saturated with oil and I found at least 25 complaints online and at least 95 more that I did not print out. How can I have a vehicle less than a year with not even 7,000 miles on it and have all of these problems? One mechanic said they thought the dealer who sold it knew about the oil pan leak as bad as it was and the other person at a car dealer in the service department could not say yes or no but thought it was unusual. I would like the company checked into and see if they did knew about the oil pan leak and the recall and I was not notified by letter before I bought the vehicle that there was a recall. It showed on the bill of sale and when I asked about the recall on the bill of sale they said it was taken care of as far as they knew. I feel I got a vehicle that had things wrong with it and was never told. Is it because I am a 80 year old person that needed a vehicle I feel I was taking advantage of. I just wanted to have something I could trust with no problems. Can you help or no?

My 2017 Ford F150 with 40k miles was in dealership for tire rotation. Mechanic says my truck has swollen lug nuts. I reside in Ga and road salt not typically used in winter. Cost me $130 for something poorly engineered.
NHTSA ODI 11499775
Dec. 29, 2022: I was advised that the lug nuts are warped and the tires could not be rotated without replacing the lug nuts. Was advised if I did not replace them, I may not be able to remove them if I had a flat tire or worse, they might not get tightened properly causing a wheel to come off while driving. Vehicle is still at Ford Dealership service dept.

Truck downshifts periodically from 3rd to 2nd gear or from 4 to 3 of 4th to 2nd, for no reason, while keeping speed same on flat road. This causes tire squealing action in some cases and is unsafe. Also, at the same time, rear motion sensor system failure light comes on with an OK button. I select the button and then a wrench sign lights up indicating service requires. Sometimes also a check engine light comes on. Sometimes also the display showing what gear truck is in goes blank, or flutters through all gears. Sometimes a fan/generator comes on as well for no apparent reason. Sometimes the truck is goes in to no gear at all (neutral?) while I am moving. I pull over, restart the engine and the problems usually go away. This problem was reported to 2 Ford dealers (Cella and Bergey) on about 7/2022 and 8/2022. They gave me very different assessments of the problem, the most expensive being a new lead frame ($1,300) Problems originally started around 3/2022. Truck has about 35,000 miles on it.

Oil pan is leaking and was told that it was a common problem happening. I believe this is unsafe that can leave my family on the side of the road. Yes the problem was confirmed by the dealership service department and was told it has been a problem. There was no warning lamps before this problem. I know that the repair will be $1,100 which I will pay for that on Friday when I pick up the truck.

Driver and passenger front door’s locking mechanism would not latch in freezing temperatures. Doors would not latch and caused a safety issue. This has not been reviewed by dealership.

I started my truck at 7:45 AM; temperature was 25 degrees and the windows were covered in frost. I turned the heater on, got out to load my truck; as I opened the door I heard a loud pop and a slight electrical odor. On examining the cause, I realized that the rear cab window had shattered with no provocation. Glass shards everywhere in the cab and in the truck bed. My dogs in the backseat, or I in the front could have been impaled with any one of these shards.

Doing cold weather, the driver side door locks has frozen on several occasions causing the latch to become inoperable to latch. As a result, I am unable to lock the door after closing it and the door swings open before moving the vehicle. I have not been able to schedule an appointment at this time. The vehicle was purchased used from Carmax in Brandywine, Md., on March 22, 2022. I was informed that the vehicle had passed a full inspection prior to the sale. There were no warning lights or recall notices issued regarding the vehicle.

The driver’s side door will not latch once it is opened when the ambient temperature is below 25 Fahrenheit. The door has come open while driving, requiring the driver to hold it shut while finding a safe pull off. It has come unlatched and swung open around corners, even though it was locked.

The oil pan on this model vehicle with a 2.7 L engine does not hold oil. Ford knows that this is an issue and created a new product with an integrated gasket to put on the vehicle. The part will not be available for an entire year. I was told that there are approximately 3300 people on the waiting list for the new part. I have replaced my oil pan four times, including aftermarket parts that are based off of Fords design, and nothing works. My five year old truck is completely undrivable because the oil keeps leaking. Ford refuses to do anything about it in the meantime. I was forced to buy a second vehicle, because this one is not drivable. The oil pan is leaking on all F150s of this model. Ford won’t buy the vehicle back from me either. So my truck will not run due to Fords faulty part design.

When it is cold below 20 degrees, the drivers door won’t latch when closed until the truck warms up inside a heated building or you have the heat on high inside for 20-25 minutes. Having to hold the door closed while driving until it gets warm enough in the car to latch. It has happened the last 5 times I have driven it. It is cold here now. I have talked to other people and mechanics and they have said it happens and possibly going back to all ford cars and trucks back to 2012. I have a ratchet strap I have to use on both front doors to hold them both shut until it gets warm enough for the latch to release. It is not the c latch that hooks onto the post. It is a latch inside that releases the latch. I have not brought it in as there is no recall on this yet and I can’t afford to have them look at it. It can be available anytime to be looked at if needed. There is no prior notice of this happening and then the door ajar light comes on.

The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-150. The contact stated that he received a notice for Ford Campaign Number: 21B10 (Cam Phaser Rattle) and the vehicle was taken to the local dealer; however, the local dealer informed him that the software update did not need to be completed on the vehicle because the vehicle had not experienced the failure. The contact stated upon starting the vehicle, the engine would make abnormal rattling sounds. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the cam phaser needed to be replaced. The dealer informed the contact that he would need to pay a repair fee as he had failed to complete the software update under Ford Campaign Number: 21B10. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 63,200.

My front right brake line busted on my 2017 F150 STX. This 5 year old truck has under 70 thousand miles on it and it matches up with the Master Brake Caliber Recall 22S11 or 22S14. I think my vehicle should be included in the recall. Brake lines don't just bust and I could have seriously injured someone or myself because of this faulty part.

Good morning, my Bluetooth/Radio/Sirius/Navigation Screen has been cutting out after I make a hands free call. The GPS shows not working and the radio will not work and the phone will not work. I check online for the issue and numerous people on a variety of cars have said their APIM Modules were shown to be faulty. This is an expensive part to replace, and I have tried the "quick fix" of disconnecting the negative battery terminal for 15 minutes then reconnecting and it works fine for awhile then begins intermittently cutting off again. It is a safety issue if I should need to make an emergency call and the GPS not working could be a safety issue as well. Is this something that NHTSA is looking at? Are there any "unofficial" recalls on these APIM Modules? Please let me know. Thank you!

A service bulletin was posted about the oil pan leaking. We take our vehicle to Ford to have the service completed. It was brought to our attention that our oil pan was leaking. Ford had manufactured our vehicle with a plastic oil pan. What compounded the issue is the sensors did not alert the driver the engine oil was low. Ford cannot fix the problem with the faulty sensors. Ford solution to the leaking oil is replacing the oil pan. I feel this is a safety issue and Ford should repair my vehicle at there cost. I should not have to pay because Ford manufactured a vehicle with a very poor design. The leak is not the customers fault, it is a design flaw. If the vehicle operates low on oil it could lose power on the roadway and potentially cause an accident.

I received a letter from Ford stating I have to take my vehicle in to have the Cam adjusted. After getting the vehicle back from the Ford Dealership a problem with the engine shutting off started to occur. After driving the car for a period of time I would stop at a red light and the automatic engine control would turn the vehicle off. When I let off the break the engine would start and I could drive the vehicle. The problem that started happening is when I let my foot off the break the vehicle would stall. This is very dangerous because at busy intersections the vehicle would stall out and I have to place the vehicle in Park and start the vehicle to drive. We have taken the vehicle to the dealership two times and the problem has not been addressed.

Lucky, I was at a stop light when my wrench symbol came on. My gear lights when blank and I lost all power. Turned off and on and was able to limp into a parking lot. Where I shut it off and it wouldn't turn back on. Towed to Ford where I found out that it's the transmission casing. They have had my vehicle in the shop now for almost 2 months. They keep losing the part. I was 6,000 miles out for the 60 000 miles warranty, so it's all on me. They have almost 7000 of the same part on back order, so who know when I'll get my truck back.

The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-150. The contact stated that during winter, the doors of the vehicle would freeze shut or fail to latch securely. The contact stated while driving 10 MPH and making a turn, the door flew open inadvertently, almost causing an accident. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that he was concerned for his safety as he might be trapped inside the vehicle due to the failure. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that they could not assist as the vehicle was previously repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 17V652000 (Latches/Locks/Linkages). The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and advised the contact to take the vehicle to another dealer for a second opinion. The failure mileage was approximately 15,000.

I was sitting in the drive thru with my kids when my daughter said there was smoke from behind her. Shortly after that the back window shattered into many peices onto them inside the car. It’s ridiculous that there has been many complaints of the same issue yet no recall issued.
