I was driving home from work and without any warning I lost the ability to accelerate when I was on the freeway, a message popped up on my truck screen Powertrain Malfuction/Reduce power. I was lucky this time around as I was able to cost to the shoulder Cars however were speeding up to me and around me as I could not accelerate my truck. If this would have happen when I was towing my old 35 foot trailer it could have been deadly. I noticed a recall for this exact same issue on 2011 trucks, forms online seem to suggest others have had this same issue with newer 2017 trucks also. The issue turns out to be the Molded lead frame failure. Once more same issue from recall title was6r80 recall number 19507. Seems like ford did not fix it only prolong the issue or kicked it down the road. My truck is 100K others around 77K it failed so I am assuming it will happen as trucks get around 100K.

This is ridiculous 3/2/24 I went to the store to buy a nut remover This should not be allowed to happen and you get away without giving the customer a proper tool

During a cold weather spell in January 2024, after opening the driver door, it failed to latch when I attempted to close it. This would seem to be the same problem listed under: Manufacturer Recall Number17S33 NHTSA Recall Number17V652 Summary ON YOUR VEHICLE, A FROZEN DOOR LATCH, OR A BENT OR KINKED DOOR LATCH ACTUATION CABLE, MAY RESULT IN A DOOR THAT WILL NOT OPEN, WILL NOT CLOSE, OR OPENS WHILE DRIVING CONDITION. Very scary and I was only going about 25 mph. Had I been in a freeway it could’ve been much worse. Transmission display started glitching in and out. Truck started shifting on its own violently, even screeching its tires at one point. It could not decide what gear it was supposed to be in. I pulled over and turned truck off. Attempted to restart but truck would not start because it apparently did not think it was in park. Tow truck showed up. Vehicle then started and check engine light appeared. Truck was towed to Ford dealer-transmission control module deemed bad and had to be replaced. Problem had happened weekend before and check engine light came on. I took to auto zone right next to where I was and they pulled the code “P0706.” But code was cleared and check engine light went off. I managed to make it home and called ford and told them what truck was doing. They told me there was nothing they could do without the check engine light on to diagnose it and to keep driving it until it happened again and the check engine light came on. The next weekend was the first time I had attempted to drive it because I did not feel safe in it.

I have a Ford F-150 Supercab. When tried to leave to pick up my daughter during a snow storm (temperature was around 26 degrees), I found that I could not close the passenger door. I thought the latch may have sprung shut but found it to be opened but would not close around the "D" link of the back passenger door (it would rotate but not lock into place). I had to get someone else to pick her up. I had to use a cargo strap inside (around the door handle and seat) to keep the door closed to be able to go to work the next morning (not the safest thing to do but, I could not wait two weeks until Ford could look at it). When the weather got a little warmer (around 36 degrees) the door acted normally. A few days later we had temperatures in the low 20s and the issue reappeared. There were two reasons I knew that one of the doors had issues closing: 1) warning system that states that a door was ajar and 2) the interior light was on. I contacted Ford of La Plata, Maryland but they said that the VIN number is not part of the recall. When I asked if I could buy the parts to fix the issue myself, they said that the parts do not exist since my truck is not part of the recall.

After takimg.my ford to the dealership to correct the frozen door latch issue , my doors are still latching. This is a serious safety issue as the door will not latch properly and you have to hold the door closed to get the vehicle home. All 4 doors experience this latch issue. I have had to tie my door closed with a cell phone charger cord just to get the vehicle home. This is unacceptable with the price of vehicles

I had the recall repaired on my 2017 F150 in 2022, for the freezing door latches not latching and letting the door stay closed. I did have issues with it in ’23 but it was only once or twice and I didn’t do anything about it. I had issues with the latching again this winter (Jan. 2024) and had a new problem where the door would not UNLOCK and just brought it into Ford to maybe have them do a recall fix on latches again on it but they said there is nothing they can do. It is our only vehicle right now and my wife is currently pregnant and my main concern is us needing to leave in an emergency and not being able to get the doors open because of the locks or then having them not able to stay shut cause the latches won’t work.
