While driving, the vehicle suddenly displayed “Service ESC” and “Service Traction Control” warnings. Shortly after, the engine stalled and the vehicle became difficult to restart. Vehicle experienced rough running/misfires and loss of power. Diagnostic trouble codes retrieved included P0300, P0106, P3498, P00FF, and U1962. The issue appears intermittent but creates a serious safety concern due to unexpected stalling while driving. None prior to failure Detailed description: On 5/21/2026, during normal driving, the engine in my truck lost propulsion due to a major internal failure. This is a 2023 General Motors 6.2L (L87) engine that was inspected at the dealership where it was originally purchased for the previously issued NHTSA "loss of propulsion" recall and passed without any noted issues. This engine only has ~20,000 miles on it. The engine failed in relatively heavy traffic and could have easily resulted in a serious accident due to inability to route my vehicle to a safe area while under power. This all happened without any prior warning, no check engine lights, noises or lamps or symptoms. The dash simply illuminated with a "Press Start" message.The truck was towed to the dealer for evaluation. The dealer called me today (5/26/2026) stating the engine was seized and a new engine would have to be ordered from GM for installation. This event occurred while the vehicle (2023 Silverado ZR2) is still under the original 36 month/36,000 mile warranty.

The contact stated that awhile after the repair was completed , the engine was ticking. The vehicle was taken to the dealer again, where it was diagnosed with metal shavings in the engine. The dealer stated a new motor may be needed which would be the fourth motor installed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the issue. Many reports of this happening to 2023 models but no recalls for this. Why should I have to pay $1000.00 for a part that is failing in many vehicles of the same year.

On 4/09/26, while visiting friends near the border in [XXX] from [XXX] and driving on a dry paved road we lost the ability to stop the truck and engage the brake system. To avoid a crash, I drove the truck up onto the sidewalk and closed my eyes. Fortunately we did not crash into stopped cars but the truck does not work and it has body damage to all sides. Now when the key is in forward collision system unavailable, service traction control and service ESC shows on dash. Truck is unsafe and a hazard on the road. In 2024 there was a recall for the tailgate locking mechanism - We did not receive that recall - but the part went bad causing the battery to drain - and it had to be repaired. We had to pay for the service $500.00 - We I asked the dealership about this recall they said it did not include my vehicle. But it was indeed that part that went bad. I lease the truck - I had every intention of purchasing after the lease - I am over the miles and was told it was out of warranty. I certainly would not complain about paying for it - but there was a recall last year for said part. Could some please reach out to me regarding this - Thank you

Vehicle has experienced repeated electrical and safety system failures since purchase in 2023. Affected systems include forward collision warning, blind spot monitoring, parking sensors, cameras, and infotainment. Failures include complete loss of camera functionality (rear and front), infotainment system shutdowns or resets while driving, loss of audio, and volume malfunctioning (including sudden increases or no response). The vehicle has also generated false safety alerts, including forward collision warnings and blind spot alerts when no hazard was present. These issues have occurred while the vehicle was in operation, creating safety risks due to loss of visibility systems and unreliable warning alerts. In multiple instances, the system would become completely non-functional for extended periods, sometimes lasting days or weeks, before temporarily returning. The problem has been reported to a dealership multiple times and has been inspected and serviced. Repairs have included software updates and component-related work; however, the issues have continued to persist or reoccur. The failures are intermittent but recurring and have not been permanently resolved despite multiple repair attempts. Transmission has jerked/bumped in past and now at approx 85K miles, it supposedly needs a new transmission. I've heard it is a pretty big issue and seems llike relatively low mileage for this to be happening to 2023 year model. I certainly don't drive it hard and rarely tow or haul heavy loads.

One day the trucks transmission started to struggle to find the next gear after taking off from a light. The next morning it did it again and that night did it a third time. The third time it about brought the truck to a stop at 30 mph and made a bang noise, in which a check engine light came on and a message saying speed limited and drive with caution. The truck only has 20,000 miles and already is having transmission issues, which is just unacceptable.

I am reporting another engine failure on the 6.2L L87. This engine passed the initial recall testing and the oil was changed to 0W40 on September 30, 2025. However, my engine in my 2023 LT Trail Boss started knocking on Friday, March 20, 2026 (at 22,500 miles) after I picked up my children from school. Thankfully it started as I pulled into my driveway with them so they weren’t in any danger. No loss of power on the truck or warning lights visible. However, it was loud enough and odd enough for my [XXX] olds to even notice the sound in the cab. It was dropped off at the dealership on that Saturday morning and the GM dealership was finally able to look at it on Wednesday, March 25th and confirmed what was expected. The advisor stated the engine will need to be replaced due to the engine heading towards bearing/crankshaft failure. I am still currently without my truck as of today (April 4th) with no repair date in sight. I will say that the dealership service advisor has been very good about communicating about its status. However, he stated that he has had no luck finding an new engine and is unable to give a timetable in getting one. He did offer to start a PO for a rental car through enterprise. He stated they are not giving loaners, but could get a rental car. He also stated that it would not be a truck due to GM only giving $50 per day towards a rental. So here I sit currently without my truck. I see multiple reports about the engines being on back order and even the replacement engines are failing within the fist 500 miles. Some reports indicating they are on the third or fourth engine. Something needs to done about getting these trucks bought back by GM. They have clearly failed with this engine and are replacing the failed engines with the same thing! It is a well documented manufacturing flaw and design! I am thankful it occurred near my home. I would not have been happy with a catastrophic failure on a highway with my [XXX] old children in the truck!! At cold start vehicle often required several seconds for the transmission to engage before moving. After traveling at highway speed (45+ MPH) vehicle began to make clunking noise as if the transmission were changing gears but it was not and the RPMs on the tachometer did not change. Instances became worse and more frequent over 6 month period, vehicle never displayed any codes and no notifications or check engine/transmission lights on driver information center. Took vehicle to O’Fallon Buick GMC and was advised torque converter and transmission valve body had failed and needed replaced. I inquired about ongoing issue with this vehicle based on my findings online and was told it was not a recall issue at this time. Truck has 74,000 miles and service records for all maintenance to date.

I'm reporting a 5mpg fuel economy reduction immediately following the 6.2L L87 engine recall (NHTSA #24V795000). I use 93 octane and monitor my fuel mileage consistently. I bragged about my fuel economy in my 6.2l until after the recall was applied. This is going to cause a financial hardship as I'm on fixed income after Servicing 29 years in the Army and 100% disabled. There is no other reason my mpg should have changed as my driving habits have not.

While driving on the freeway without warning, my engine stopped working. My vehicle was towed to the Chevy dealership where they confirmed that I was the latest victim of the ongoing engine failure problem with the 6.2 L engine. There was no warning, no sign that I had a problem. My engine just simply stopped working on a busy freeway. I was barely able to make it to the shoulder where I had merging traffic coming on the freeway behind me. I’m deeply concerned that Chevy will replace it with the same faulty engine and I will be put in the same danger situation again in the future.

The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that on two separate occasions while hauling the camper, the "High Diesel Exhaust Fluid", Exhaust Fluid Range", and "Fill DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid) Now" warning messages were displayed on the instrument panel. The messages indicated that the Diesel Exhaust Fluid was low and needed to be replenished. The contact stated that the failure caused the instrument panel to freeze and not operate as needed. Upon attempting to refuel the vehicle, fuel failed to enter the fuel tank since the diesel tank was full. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where the contact was informed that the failure was an electrical glitch and that there were no issues with the Diesel Exhaust Fluid system. The contact was also informed by the dealer of Technical Service Bulletin: 22-NA-150, which the contact related to the failure. The dealer reset the vehicle, which caused the instrument panel to return to normal operation. The manufacturer was then notified of the failure, and the contact was informed that vehicle was not included in the TSB. The contact was given a case number and was referred to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 55,000.
