I own a 2019 Ford F-150 with only 94,000 miles on it—barely approaching 100,000—and I’m already experiencing significant transmission issues. The vehicle is equipped with the 10R80 transmission, and the way it shifts gears is extremely concerning. It’s unreasonable for such a critical component to show this level of failure so early. At this rate, it feels as though I’d need to replace the transmission every 94,000 miles, which is simply unacceptable and raises serious concerns about long-term reliability.

Rear view camera used to glitch when put in reverse. Now it goes completely black (or blue) when vehicle is in reverse. There was a recall on this involving 2021 and newer models but I believe this problem goes back even further. Because it’s a truck, I have a huge blind spot in the back when reversing and I worry mostly about a potential accident involving property, persons, or even my own children. It’s very unsafe. I want to note that I was in contact with Ford Customer Service but they said that my vehicle wasn’t covered under the recall and that there was nothing they can do for me.

The truck would just shut off while driving or not start whenever you need it to. It acts like a dead battery but the battery is fine. It has been at the dealership for 45 days plus straight for this issue. When it cuts out, we lose all steering all breaking all power. I’m very lucky it hasn’t taken my life or one of my family members lives. There are some innocent person on the road because of The lack of quality and workmanship. In my opinion the truck needs to be recalled because it’s been nothing but a hassle for us.

The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving 70-75 MPH and pulling a camper, the vehicle started sputtering and lost motive power. The contact was able to pull over to the side of the road. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed and determined that the head gasket had allowed a leak onto the alternator, causing the alternator to fail. The mechanic replaced the alternator. The vehicle was then taken to the dealer, where the head gasket was replaced. Additionally, the contact stated while the dealer was performing an oil change, the dealer informed the contact that the timing chain cover and the rear main seals were leaking. The dealer determined that the timing cover seals, the rear main seals, and other unknown parts needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.

1st safety problem is while accelerating, there is a rough shift in gears despite being an automatic transmission. While attempting to gradually and safely accelerate, vehicle causes an abrupt deceleration where rpms drop and vehicle occupants are thrown forward during the process. Vehicle was brought to Ford Dealership for repair. They noted a known issue with transmission and completed a software restart/update. Vehicle gear shift improved slightly for short period of time but eventually resumed and is noticeably worse in colder months. This problem has been noticed while turning, resulting in near misses with oncoming traffic and is concerning when entering/merging with traffic at highway speeds. There were no dashboard warning light indicators at any point. Battery was in good condition. 2nd concern: Engine fire ups up on start but stalls while idling when shifting out of park as well as in stopped traffic. "Auto startstop, shift to P, then restart engine" notification presents on gauge display. This requires multiple attempts to get vehicle restarted with following notification instructions and shutting off/restarting engine. Disengaging auto startstop on startup is inconclusive about remedying the situation. Battery was tested as good but replaced anyway due to age to rule out battery related concerns. Contacted Ford dealership service department and they replied, "they have never heard of it happening." They denied knowledge of any TSB, CSP or recalls/complaints about the issue. However, it appears this issue is well documented on multiple Ford models and various production years. Other than instrument/gauge display of "Auto startstop, shift to P, then restart engine" occurring after the fact, there is no warning light indicators. Safety is at risk due to stoppage of traffic and loss of power/ability to accelerate or maneuver vehicle in traffic situations to include clearing intersections with oncoming traffic while turning at low speeds/idling.

Transmission shifting drags out in some gears and shifts very hard, and slips at times. The truck has died while shifting three time on the highway, once in heavy traffic. The gear indicator has went from 10th gear to 1st gear while slipping on the freeway.

A year ago we took our Truck in because it was knocking, we were told it was dry starting and they had to repair it, it was 5200. A couple weeks ago we’re driving and it started shifting funny and jerking, had no get up and go, we limped to the nearest dealership. Told our transmission went out and it will cost 11k.

Vehicle shuts off randomly when the StopStart feature is disabled/turned off via button in dashboard. The instrument panel displays message on dash saying: “Auto StopStart, Manual Restart, Required” And “Auto StopStart, Shift to P, Then Restart engine” This often happens in the middle of an intersection where I risk being hit by another vehicle. This has happened on multiple occasions. Dealership was unable to recreate problem so unfortunately nothing was repaired. There are many online forums discussing this very same problem.

The vehicle developed a grinding noise in the engine soon after i lost all power and brakes while leaving my driveway i thought I was going to crash into my neighbors fence. I had zero braking function out of no where ans no check engine light, it came back after about 30 seconds being off. Then as I was driving down the road I lost all power and I could not accelerate or anything in the middle of the road again no check engine light came on it was just an instantaneous power loss took about 45 seconds to re-engage. I've lost power on the freeway while driving as well.

vehicle started @ around -15 F, drove it for 15 minutes, parked and turned it off. 90 minutes later with temps around -5 to -10 F it would not turn over. Messages on dash included : full accessory power available, and something about a steering assist fault. Jumping battery did not help. Vehicle hauled to shop. Shop disconnected battery and reconnected it and vehicle started. Fault codes were cleared and vehicle ran without creating new fault codes. If this fault had occurred in the middle of nowhere without assistance available the computer going into no start mode when the battery was not dead could easily have resulted in death from the cold weather. The vehicle computer should have a reset option which can be triggered by any operator.

HARD SHIFTING ! NOT UP SHIFTING OR DOWN SHIFTING OR IT WILL GO FROM 10TH TO 1ST GEAR ON THE HWY CAUSING LOSS OF POWER, I HAD 2 SEMI TRUCKS RIGHT BEHIND ME ALMOST CAUSING AN ACCIDENT, WHEN STOPING AT A RED LIGHT OR STOP SIGN IT DOES NOT WANT TO GO FORWARD TRYING TO START IN A HIGHER GEAR, AND CAUSING ME TO BE STUCK IN THE INTERSECTION WITH ON COMING TRAFFICK. IT IS LOUNGING FORWARD ON ITS OWN, IT CAUSES THE RPM TO RED LINE WHEN YOU ARE NOT ACCELORATING EVEN AFTER YOU HAVE TAKEN YOUR FOOT OFF THE GAS AND ARE APPLYING THE BRAKE. IT IS SKIPING GEARS IT WILL GO FROM 1 TO 7TH TO 10TH BACK DOWN TO 1ST ALL WITHIN A MATTER OF SECONDS, IT WILL DOWN SHIFT OR UP SHIFT AND JUMP SO HARD THAT IT HURTS MY BACK AND MAKES EVERYONE IN THE TRUCK SORE FEELING LIKE YOU GOT WHIPLASH. I DID TAKE THE TRUCK TO THE DEALERSHIP WHEN IT FIRST STARTED CLANKING HARD WHEN I PUT IT IN DRIVE OR REVERSE THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME IT WAS NORMAL FOR THAT TRANSMISSION AND WOULDNT EVEN LOOK AT IT. SINCE THEN IT HAS ONLY GOTTEN WORSE I HAVE REACHED OUT TO SERVAL OTHER DEALERSHIPS AND EXPLAINED THE ISSUES THEY HAVE ALL TOLD ME THERE IS NO FIX FOR THIS ISSUE. THEY ARE GETTING SO MANY REPORTS FOR THE SAME ISSUE, AND FORD HAS NOT FOUND A FIX FOR THE ISSUE. WHEN THIS FIRST STARTED THERE WERE NO WORNINGS AND NO LIGHTS ON THE DASH, NOW I AM GETTING NOTTIFICATIONS ON THE FORD APP AND THERE HAS BEEN A WRENCH LIGHT THTHAT COMES ON THE DASH PERIODICLY. CURRENTLY THE TRUCK IS AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR A FULL TRANSMISSION REBUILD SUGGUSTED BY THEM. COSTING ALMOST $6000.00 AND ACOURDING TO THEM THIS IS THE ONLY FIX FOR IT AT THIS TIME. THE CLUTCH BASKET HAS FAILED SENDING IMPROPER FLUID PRESSURE THOUGH OUT THE TRANSMISSION.

While driving 65mph on I-495 on a +90 degree day in August my 2019 Ford F-150 Lariat 4x4, the horn of the F-150 beeped. It beeped again a couple more times then the F-150 powered down forcing me to coast through some lanes of traffic to reach the break down lane. ABS and maintenance due light were both illuminated. My code reader said a switch was shorted so I cleared codes to retest. I restarted the truck and after re-boott was able to drive the vehicle home. Not associated with this enroute power failure incident, I notice intermittent rough idle issues, a tail gate that opens by itself 24/7 with alarm and it is now normal for this F-150 to burn 3-4 quarts of extra oil between each oil change.

Currently Suffering from a manufacturing defect per diagnosis from Ford technician in my 2019 F150 with the 10-speed transmission. I was advised by Ford to submit the form since I must pay for the repair and updated components to fix the issue and would be reimbursed once the recall was issues. Ford has issued a new technical service bulletin (TSB 24-2046) and re-engineered the CDF drum and housing to correct the issue. Below is a list of symptoms I’ve been experiencing along with others from 2017 – 2023: Wrench light is on Clunking or banging noise when starting the engine Rough, harsh or erratic shifting Hesitation between gears Gear slipping Gear getting stuck while shifting Jerking or lunging Loss of power while driving

Transmission has always shift loudly into 8th gear since I bought it at 31k miles. It has 95k miles on it now. Bought it in Nov 2021 used off a Ford dealer lot. Driving a few weeks ago. Going 30 mph. Stopped at a stop sign and then made a left mildly accelerated, probably around 30mph and I was still accelerating, engine goes to redline and engine shifts down to I'm guessing first. Every dash light pops on, and the truck doesn't even show it's in drive or any gear. I pulled to the next stop sign that was not to far away. I brake and shut the truck off and put it in park. I try to start it and it doesn't work. It did not turn over at all. I got it towed to home and checked it out. The transmission control module fuse was blown. I replaced it and it blew again and again. I checked for broken wires, I did not remove anything to check. I did not see anything. Had it towed to Ford. Ford told me the transmission control module had shorted out internally and they needed to order a new transmission control module. They just got it yesterday and told me they were having trouble programming it and hoping it'd be ready tomorrow.

This afternoon while getting ready to leave church, I pulled my truck forward about 10 feet with no issues in order to load some things in the truck bed before taking off. The truck started up just fine, and the starter sounded just as strong as it always does, indicating the battery was of good health. Upon starting the vehicle less than 5 minutes later the engine would not start due to a dead battery - or so that's what the symptoms led me to believe anyway. I heard some clicks, but no starter motor activity, then saw a warning on my radio screen stating "turn ignition off or start engine." This could have been at a stoplight, leaving me as a stalled vehicle in the middle of the road had it happened in conjunction with the auto start/stop that shuts off the engine when stopped for a short period of time. I have not yet taken the truck into a dealership to have this issue looked at. This appears to be a resurfacing problem from about 2 years ago when I had electrical issues where my radio would not turn off as I got to work one morning - even though the ignition had been turned off and the driver door was open. The radio was still running when I got back to the truck in the afternoon. I was able to drive home that day, but with limited functionality of the truck. It was during a heavy rain, and the rear brake lights would not work, and the windshield wipers would not turn on. When I went down the next morning to take it into the dealership, I had to get it jump started, as the battery had died from the radio running all night long. When I got it jump started, the truck acted normally again, and I took it into the dealership and explained all of this, but they turned me away, as they told me there was nothing they could do to fix the problem if the symptoms had disappeared. There were no warnings before either of these episodes. This appears to be an electrical system failure. This problem has not been reproduced. The vehicle has not been inspected by a professional
