1st safety problem is while accelerating, there is a rough shift in gears despite being an automatic transmission. While attempting to gradually and safely accelerate, vehicle causes an abrupt deceleration where rpms drop and vehicle occupants are thrown forward during the process. Vehicle was brought to Ford Dealership for repair. They noted a known issue with transmission and completed a software restart/update. Vehicle gear shift improved slightly for short period of time but eventually resumed and is noticeably worse in colder months. This problem has been noticed while turning, resulting in near misses with oncoming traffic and is concerning when entering/merging with traffic at highway speeds. There were no dashboard warning light indicators at any point. Battery was in good condition. 2nd concern: Engine fire ups up on start but stalls while idling when shifting out of park as well as in stopped traffic. "Auto startstop, shift to P, then restart engine" notification presents on gauge display. This requires multiple attempts to get vehicle restarted with following notification instructions and shutting off/restarting engine. Disengaging auto startstop on startup is inconclusive about remedying the situation. Battery was tested as good but replaced anyway due to age to rule out battery related concerns. Contacted Ford dealership service department and they replied, "they have never heard of it happening." They denied knowledge of any TSB, CSP or recalls/complaints about the issue. However, it appears this issue is well documented on multiple Ford models and various production years. Other than instrument/gauge display of "Auto startstop, shift to P, then restart engine" occurring after the fact, there is no warning light indicators. Safety is at risk due to stoppage of traffic and loss of power/ability to accelerate or maneuver vehicle in traffic situations to include clearing intersections with oncoming traffic while turning at low speeds/idling.

2019 F-150 vehicle is equipped with a 5.0L engine that exhibit excessive oil consumption, to where every month i have to add oil. There are no visible oil leaks. Each time i go for oil change before the 3 months and/or recommended 3,000 miles, im told there is no oil in the engine. After doing research, i found that the issue of excessive oil consumption is caused by high intake manifold vacuum during some deceleration fuel shut off events resulting in oil being pulled into the combustion chamber from the crankcase, valve guides, and positive crankcase ventilation (PCV). To correct the condition, steps to reprogram the powertrain control module (PCM), installation of a new engine oil level indicator and change the engine oil and oil filter. The revised PCM calibration reduces engine vacuum during some DFSO events. After calling local ford service center, the issue was confirmed and I was told that there isn't a fix for the problem. I was provided by the Ford service agent the contact information for Fords customer service. Spoke to the agent who told me that there is only a recall for the tailgate for my model. Anything else I would be responsible for repairs. The Ford customer service agent then gave me the website to NHTSA to file a complaint. Now I'm doing just that. It appears that this is a common issue for my year make and model. Please investigate, please help.

Vehicle shuts off randomly when the StopStart feature is disabled/turned off via button in dashboard. The instrument panel displays message on dash saying: “Auto StopStart, Manual Restart, Required” And “Auto StopStart, Shift to P, Then Restart engine” This often happens in the middle of an intersection where I risk being hit by another vehicle. This has happened on multiple occasions. Dealership was unable to recreate problem so unfortunately nothing was repaired. There are many online forums discussing this very same problem.

Truck has 85K miles on it and has a loud ticking noise followed by rattle at 1500 rpms even after timing system was rebuilt. Burnes 1qt of oil every 1000 miles. Entire timing system needed to be replaced due to two faulty chain tensioners. Engine was super clean and had zero oil sludge buildup. Currently having a oil consumption test done. Do have repair order that was done for timing system. No warning lights for failed timing system that popped up. I am able to get the repair invoice if needed.

I leased a new 2019 Ford f150 xlt sport package in the fall of 2019. During the first year, I experienced some "choking" of the engine when I would accelerate. Nothing big, but noticeable. I mentioned this experience to the dealer at regular checkups and they informed me that it was "normal" and that if anything was wrong, the computerized monitoring system on the truck would identify the problem. I bought the truck after a 36 month lease. The choking continued to be a regular occurance, especially for the first few miles of a new drive. Around 30k miles, I noticed the issue getting more pronounced. I again asked the dealer about it and they provided me the same answer as before and didn't offer to explore the issue. Between 30K and 50K miles, the issue became more frequent and would impact the truck whether it was warm or cold. But now I experienced a hard shift between 1-3 gears and sometime 3-5-- jerking and slowing and struggling to move to the next gear. It will also bog down at times when changing into the higher gears with no telling when this would occur. Again, I asked the dealer about it, and becuase there was no safety light, they wouldn't do a thing. Over the past month or two, at over 50K miles, the frequency was several times on every drive. It started to jump from 8-1 and back up to 8. It would jerk and slow in high traffic situations, and finally it just would not move into gear at a stop sign at rush hour. I had to drop it into low gears and move to the side of the road after 10 minutes of stoppage; then the check engine indicator finally flashed, after an incident that could have caused harm to me or others. I slowly drove it to my destination. Since then, I have not allowed anyone to drive the truck because it is dangerous to operate. I took the truck to the dealer and they informed me that it needs a new transmission which will be ~$5k

The vehicle developed a grinding noise in the engine soon after i lost all power and brakes while leaving my driveway i thought I was going to crash into my neighbors fence. I had zero braking function out of no where ans no check engine light, it came back after about 30 seconds being off. Then as I was driving down the road I lost all power and I could not accelerate or anything in the middle of the road again no check engine light came on it was just an instantaneous power loss took about 45 seconds to re-engage. I've lost power on the freeway while driving as well.

vehicle started @ around -15 F, drove it for 15 minutes, parked and turned it off. 90 minutes later with temps around -5 to -10 F it would not turn over. Messages on dash included : full accessory power available, and something about a steering assist fault. Jumping battery did not help. Vehicle hauled to shop. Shop disconnected battery and reconnected it and vehicle started. Fault codes were cleared and vehicle ran without creating new fault codes. If this fault had occurred in the middle of nowhere without assistance available the computer going into no start mode when the battery was not dead could easily have resulted in death from the cold weather. The vehicle computer should have a reset option which can be triggered by any operator.

The truck started to have a slight shutter when driving around 80,000 miles. it now shutters all of the time while driving. They trucks shakes. i called my local mechanic and he stated he is having a lot of calls with this make and model truck. he stated that the problem is in the transmission. the inside of the drum that houses the transmission fluid is breaking down the inside and its shredding to pieces. i was informed to call the ford dealership to see if mine was on the recall list but it is not. they acted like there hasn't been a recall for this matter. i have been stopped by random people asking if i was having this problem because them to was having the same issues. i do not feel like we as the consumers should have to pay to have this issue fixed, which is resulting in new transmissions when the problem is because of manufacturing issues. my local mechanic is saying it's costing people upwards of $8,000 to have this fixed and that is unacceptable.

2019 F-150 with 3.5L GTDI engine. Cam phasers required to be replaced on truck with 52,000 miles on it. Repair bill of $4800. Ford issued Customer Satisfaction Program ("CSP") notices 21B10 and 21N03 for Ford F-150s manufactured between 2017-2020 equipped with the 3.5L GTDI engine manufactured in Dearborn, Michigan or Kansas. A copy is attached. Under these CSPs, Ford paid for up to 100% of the repair cost, plus 1-day rental vehicle, for owners with vehicles with up to 69,999 miles on them. Ford has refused to apply the CSP to my truck, despite it only having 52,000 miles, because they say the CSP did not apply to my VIN. However, my truck is the same make, model, engine type and manufacturing location as identified in the CSP, and I have the EXACT same engine issue as described in the CSP. I did not receive any letter or recall notice from Ford regarding this issue and they expect me to pay $4,800 to get my truck back from the dealership simply because the CSP "didn't attach to my VIN." It's not a coincidence that my truck has the EXACT same characteristics and engine problem as identified in the CSP. But while thousands of consumers with THE SAME TRUCK had this repair 100% covered by Ford, I have to pay $4,800.

When pressing the gas pedal to accelerate , the truck will not accelerate rather it begins to rev the engine loudly (as if the gas pedal was being pushed while the truck is in neutral) the RPM shoots high to 6-7 (again the truck isn’t accelerating any faster just loudly revving,) then the truck jolts as if it has just been rear ended. The shifting is stuttering staying stuck in 3rd and 4th gear severing going back to 1 even at a stop. Vehicle messaging alerted 1/10/25 powertrain malfunction /reduced power . However this issues has been going on and Ford Said it was related to a 4x4 control module which was replaced and yet the issues continue. Brought it back to ford because the problem was not fixed and they are asking for payment of additional diagnostic testing and NOW saying it’s a transmission issue AFTER saying it was issue with the control module unit. Work was completed 10/2024 at Ford

Purchased Dec 4, 2019; followed maintenance requirements through BO Beukcman Quality Ford. Oil changes made IAW Ford guidelines every 5000 miles. Oil change was made Nov 23, 2023 at 49,504 miles. Just before next oil change noticed engine knocking on acceleration/deceleration with intermittent check engine light on. Oil changed at 54,226 miles (Aug 22, 2024). Condition mentioned to dealer. Dealer advised engine was consuming oil. There was no visible sign of leaks. Fix -- install new dip stick, reprogram the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). Rationale: Ford TSB 19-2365 Dec 5, 2019 quoted as follows: oil consumption "may be due to high intake manifold vacuum during some deceleration fuel shut off (DFSO) events resulting in oil being pulled into the combustion chamber from the crankcase, valve guides and positive crankcase ventilation (PCV)". Supposedly reprogramming would reduce engine vacuum during DFSO events (note: I noticed knocking on acceleration). At the dealership inquired why Ford did not advise customers of condition. They could not answer my question. My F-150 is a 5.0L V8 and was described by dealer as a Coyote engine. I asked if they had similar maintenance events like mine; answer - yes. I was disappointed; have owned previous F-150s and none "consumed" oil like this -- my previous truck had 150,000+ miles -- no oil burning. The dealer instructed me to bring the vehicle back every 1000 miles to check dipstick for consumption. Returned vehicle to dealer at 55,626 and 56,700 miles. On returns, consumption was noted; they topped off my oil with instruction to return again at 57,626 (current mileage 57,435 miles) This is inconvenient and poses a safety risk to me and perhaps others through engine degradation/failure especially while driving. Believe Ford owes the cunsumer a permanent engine fix. Vehicle is available for inspection NHTSA.

Truck was taken in for cam phasers issues multiple times and said was covered under 21n03. Ford won’t say why other than it doesn’t fall in serial number break. 21n03 says there is no sn distinction just has to be made at these plants which mine was. I have been lied to multiple times by ford and have come to them with new information and still told they won’t even look at case because I have been denied once already. I had to pay 5k out of pocket and cam phasers are now failing again within 90days. Ford is a joke and doesn’t stand behind what they build. IT IS ESPECIALLY DANGERS WHEN GOING THRU A 4 WAY STOP AND TRUCK ALMOST COMES TO A STOP BECAUSE IT HAS NO SPEED AND HAVE ENCOUNTERD CLOSE CALLS TO BE HIT OR T BONED BY OTHER VEHICLES. *THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN ON ONGOING DISPUTE WITH CONSUMERS AND FORD ABOUT THE EXTREME PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMISSION THAT INCLUDE HARSH SHIFTING, JERKING,HESITATION, CONSTANT SUDDEN DOWNSHIFTS,DIFFICULTY SHIFTING GEARS, AND EVEN AN OCCASIONAL LOSS OF POWER WHILE IN MOTION. OTHER DESCRIPTIONS THAT I EXPERIENCE IS NOTICEABLE LURCHES DURING GEAR CHANGES *I RECENTLY PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE AND I WAS FULLY UNAWARE OF IT PROBLEMS NOR WAS IT MENTIONED TO ME BY THE USED CAR SALESMAN AND MANAGER THAT THEY HAD A TRUCK IN THEIR LOT WITH EXTREME TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. *AT FIRST PURCHASED ([XXX]) THERE WAS NO WARNING SIGNS BUT MAYBE AFTER A MONTH OR SO IS WHEN THE TRUCK SHOWED A "WRENCH" SYMBOL ON THE DASH AS TO SHOW THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM.
