Low fuel pressure alert came on the truck. It went away and then came on again a few days later. We took the truck to Joe Meyers Ford in Houston, TX. They verified the code/alert and replaced the fuel filter, then re-tested. The alert returned and once they continued their diagnosis, it was determined that the fuel pressure control valve had failed, allowing fuel, DEF, and water into the fuel filter. The fuel pressure would no increase to minimum spec of 55 psi. Ford then said that without replacing the Fuel Pressure Control Valve, Fuel pump, fuel filters, and flushing all the lines, the risk for the engine to seize up was very likely. They noted this was a similar issue happening to 2020 and older trucks, but all the same parts and issues. Upon repairing the truck, we have read up on recall 24V957 and feel the issues we encountered are identical in complexity and costs. We paid nearly $20,000 in repairs.

100k miles and the high pressure fuel pump is failed. Created small metal particles that got into fuel lines. Everything needs to be replaced. There’s a recall on over 80k trucks with the same issue. Local ford said this is the same issue as all the recalls but because we don’t have the recall on our VIN, we have to pay $20k for replacement.

Fuel pump faulted, engine would just cut off in middle of driving whether on highway, street, or interstate. Engine would randomly shut off. Took to ford dealership, they had to replace low pressure and high pressure fuel pumps, the dealership says this model is notorious for that, the fuel pumps tear apart and send metal into the fuel rail. This caused the truck to not get diesel and shut off. An extreme safety issue. Several times it happened while driving, and nothing prepared you for it to happen. Just saw where models I believe starting with 2020 have been recalled for same issue. Don’t understand why 18 models weren’t.

On a very busy freeway truck started making a noise and losing power. 18 wheelers are coming up fast behind us and honking at us not knowing we are losing power and can not pull over because we are going over a bridge. The truck continued to lose power and messages started to appear saying powering down. We made it off the freeway and the truck completed died on us. Could not start. Had to call a wrecker and be towed over 100 miles back home. Well over $450.00. The next day called a mobile diagnosis that was $175.00 to tell us it was the fuel system. Got quoted from the Ford dealership $15k to repair so we took it to CS AUTOMOTIVE. They charged us $13,0000 for the repair. Shortly after getting the repair done, Ford issued a recall on 2018 Ford F250 for the same issue as our 2018 Ford F250 but our vin # was not included in the recall. It is clearly the same issue and we were told they will not do anything as our vin # was not in the recall.

The contact owns a 2018 Ford- F-250. The contact stated while driving at approximately 65 MPH, there was an abnormal sound and the "Vehicle Powering Down" message was displayed on the instrument panel; the vehicle lost automotive power and the vehicle failed to return to normal operation. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not drivable and was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact did research and was made aware of an unknown NHTSA Campaign Number however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

While on vacation, driving down a major interstate, our truck suddenly lost power. The driver slowly navigated to the side of the road and by the time we stopped flames were coming out from under the engine. We quickly got ourselves and three children out of the vehicle that, within minutes, was completely engulfed in flames. It was noted by police and the wrecker company that diesel fuel was on the road behind the truck and on the trailer that we were pulling.

I was sold this truck in November 2023 with the emissions deleted and without knowing this was removed/deleted. I did not become aware until 3 weeks ago when I brought my truck into service for a warranty issue with the fuel component. After some back and forth I was then told it would not be covered because I deleted the emissions, but I did not as this was removed prior to the purchase. Then more back and forth and pointing fingers between service and sales and a lot of ummm this should have never been sold to you and no one taking the blame and being told my truck will not be covered. I purchased the truck, have had the oil changed with their service and that's it. Now no one wants to do anything and even purchased an extended warranty!!!

PROBLEM PERSISTING REGARDING EVAP SYSTEM AND FUEL PUMP. VEHICLE HAS AN EXTENDED CRANK TIME AND SPUTTERS AT OR AROUND 400 RPM FROM ANYWHERE BETWEEN TWO TO FOUR SECONDS DUE TO THE LOSS OF PRESSURE IN THE FUEL LINES DUE TO A FAULTY CHECK VALVE OR FAULTY EVAP PURGE VALVE. DUST CAN ENTER THE EVAP VENT AND OVERTIME WORK ITS WAY TO THE EVAP SYSTEM AND CAUSE THE EVAP PURGE VALVE TO STICK OR WORK PAST THE EVAP SYSTEM AND INTO THE FUEL VENT TUBE DESENDING INTO THE FUEL SENDING UNIT WHICH CAN CAUSE THE FUEL PUMP CHECK VALVE, WHICH KEEPS FUEL PRESSURE IN THE LINES AFTER THE MOTOR IS TURNED OFF, TO FAIL. IN A WORST CASE SCENARIO,VEHICLE MAY NOT START AT ALL UNLESS FUEL IS PUMPED BACK INTO THE LINES BY TURNING THE KEY ON AND OFF MULTIPLE TIMES. PROBLEM WITH MY VEHICLE MOST OFTEN OCCURS WHEN VEHICLE HAS BEEN SITTING OVERNIGHT OR SITTING DURING THE DAY WHILE I AM AT WORK. THIS ISSUE CAN BE FIXED BY REROUTING THE EVAP VENT UNDERNEATH THE HOOD BY THE FRESH AIR INTAKE AND REPLACING FUEL SENDING UNIT AND IN THE WORST CASE REPLACING THE FUEL TANK DUE TO THE ACCUMULATION OF SEDIMENT AND ALSO REPLACING THE EVAP CANISTER. DATE GIVEN IS AN APPROXIMATE WHEN THE ISSUE BEGAN AND IS CURRENTLY AN ONGOING ISSUE. PLEASE NOTE THAT BATTERY IS NEW AND TESTED EXCELLENT AND I USE CLEAN FUEL FROM VALERO. I BELIEVE THAT THIS ISSUE IS ALSO WHY I HAVE POOR GAS MILEAGE AS WELL WHICH IS 11.4 MPG. VEHICLE HAS HAD NO MODIFICATIONS IMPACTING ITS WEIGHT AND I HAVE THE OEM TIRE SIZE AS WELL.

WHILE IN MOTION ON A SATURDAY NIGHT 10/19 ON A FARM TO MARKER ROAD, AS WE WENT OVER A RAILROAD TRACK THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE WARNING "REDUCED ENGINE POWER" SHOWED ON THE DASHBOARD SCREEN. THE TRUCK WAS STILL DRIVE-ABLE AND WE WERE ABLE TO GET IT HOME WITH NO REAL ISSUES, ONLY WITH REDUCED ENGINE POWER. FAST FORWARD TO THE FOLLOWING TUESDAY 10/22 WHEN WE WERE GOING TO DRIVE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP THAT I PURCHASED THE TRUCK FROM TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT AND IT WOULD NOT TURN OVER AND IT WAS SHOWING "LOW FUEL PRESSURE". THE TRUCK WAS TOWED TO THE NEAREST FORD DEALERSHIP. WHILE IN THEIR CARE I WAS TOLD MY LPFP (LOW PRESSURE FUEL PUMP) WAS NOT WORKING AND IT WAS REPLACED. ONCE THEY REPLACED IT, THEY STATED THE HPFP (HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP) WARNING CAME ON. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION, THEY STATED THE HPFP HAD RUST/METAL FRAGMENTS ON THE VALVE AND IN MY FUEL LINE. NOW FORD MOTOR COMPANY WILL NOT WARRANTY IT BECAUSE THEY CLAIM IT WAS DUE TO ME HAVING CONTAMINATED FUEL. HOWEVER, THERE WAS NO RUST INSIDE MY FUEL TANK SO WHERE DID THE RUST COME FROM? UPON RESEARCHING I DISCOVERED THAT FORD MOTOR COMPANY HAD A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT AGAINST THEM DUE TO FUEL PUMPS THAT ARE NOT COMPATIBLE WITH AMERICAN DIESEL FUEL. EVERYTHING THAT IS MENTIONED IN THIS LAWSUIT IS EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED TO MY TRUCK. I BELIEVE THEY ARE STILL INSTALLING THE INCOMPATIBLE FUEL PUMPS THEREFORE CAUSING THE CONSUMER TO SHOVEL OUT $8,000 - $20,000 IN UNCOVERED REPAIR EXPENSES. MY TRUCK IS A 2018 F-250 SUPER DUTY, 4X4 LARIAT AND HAD RUFFLY 19K MILES ON IT WHEN THIS HAPPENED. I HAD IT EXACTLY 1 YEAR WHEN THE INCIDENT HAPPENED. IT IS NOW 12/2/19 AND MY TRUCK HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP SINCE 10/23/19 BECAUSE I HAVE BEEN AND STILL AM FIGHTING WITH FORD MOTOR COMPANY ABOUT COVERING THE REPAIRS DUE TO THEIR NEGLIGENCE.

ON 4/19/19 I MISFUELED MY DIESEL VEHICLE. I STOPPED THE PROCESS IMMEDIATELY AND CALLED FORD FROM THE FILLING STATION. THE FORD SERVICE CENTER SAID THAT I SHOULD AVOID TURNING THE ENGINE ON, OR EVEN PLACING THE ENGINE IN ACCESSORY MODE BECAUSE IT WOULD ENGAGE THE FUEL PUMP AND FLOOD THE SYSTEM WITH GASOLINE. WHEN THE TOW TRUCK ARRIVED, IT BECAME CLEAR THAT I COULD NOT PUT THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL TO BE WINCHED ONTO THE FLATBED TOW TRUCK WITHOUT TURNING ON THE ACCESSORY MODE. I CALLED FORD FOR AN ALTERNATIVE. FORD RECOMMENDED THAT I DISCONNECT A CABLE BENEATH THE TRUCK THAT WOULD DISENGAGE THE TRANSMISSION AND ALLOW THE TRUCK TO MOVE. BECAUSE I COULD NOT FIGURE OUT HOW TO DO THIS, I HAD TO TURN ON THE ACCESSORY TO GET THE TRUCK OUT OF PARK FOR TOWING. THIS CAUSED ABOUT $12,000 IN DAMAGE TO THE FUEL SYSTEM. MORE TO THE POINT OF THIS COMPLAINT, I LATER DISCOVERED THAT THIS PROCEDURE IS NOT IN THE MANUAL FOR MY TRUCK. FURTHER, THE PROCEDURE THAT IS IN THE MANUAL WAS NOT MENTIONED. IT IS POSSIBLE THAT THE FORD MANUAL CONTAINS A PROCEDURE THAT DOES NOT APPLY TO THE TRUCK. IT IS ALSO POSSIBLE THAT FORD IS RECOMMENDING A PROCEDURE THAT IS INHERENTLY MORE DANGEROUS THAN THE PROCEDURE IN THE MANUAL.

MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING ON HWY 77 IN VA ON OCTOBER 25, 2018 WHEN HE ACCIDENTALLY RAN INTO THE BACK OF A TRI-AXLE DUMP TRUCK GOING AT A SLOWER SPEED. UPON IMPACT SOMETHING UNDER THE HOOD IMMEDIATELY BURST INTO FLAMES AND THE FIRE QUICKLY SPREAD. THE SIDE IMPACT AIR BAGS DID NOT DEFLATE AND MY HUSBAND STRUGGLE TO GET THE DRIVER DOOR OPEN. FORTUNATELY MY HUSBAND WAS ABLE TO GET OUT OF THE TRUCK WITH THE HELP OF THE DUMP TRUCK DRIVER PULLING ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE TRUCK DOOR. THE FIRE QUICKLY SPREAD TO THE CAB OF THE TRUCK AND THE ALUMINUM MELTED AWAY. HE LOST EVERYTHING THAT WAS IN THE CAB OF HIS TRUCK AND SOME THINGS IN THE BED OF THE TRUCK. HE WAS PULLING AN ENCLOSED TRAILER WITH TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT AND THE FIRE SPREAD TO THE TRAILER AND DAMAGED/DESTROYED SOME TOOLS UNTIL THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS ABLE TO EXTINGUISH THE FLAMES. I HAVE ATTACHED A PICTURE OF THE BURNING TRUCK FOR YOUR REFERENCE. I ALSO HAVE PICTURED OF THE TRUCK REMAINS. I WOULDN'T BE AS CONCERNED ABOUT THIS BUT THIS SAME THING HAPPENED TO HIM EARLIER THIS YEAR WHEN HE WAS INVOLVED IN ANOTHER FRONT END COLLISION, IN A 2018 FORD F-250 SD TRUCK. THAT TRUCK ALSO CAUGHT ON FIRE THE SAME WAY AND ENDED UP BURNING UP COMPLETELY. I HAVE PICTURES OF THE REMAINS OF THIS VEHICLE AS WELL. TOLD THE CAR DEALER AND THEY GAVE US A NUMBER TO CALL FORD AND TELL THEM. MY HUSBAND CALLED FORD AND ALL THEY DID WAS LOG THE COMPLAINT AND GAVE HIM A CASE NUMBER.

BOUGHT A 2018 FORD F250.. DROVER IT FOR ABOUT 1500 MILES. WENT ON A TRIP TO YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK , ON THE WAY BACK. WE WERE ON THE 5 FWY BACK TO LOS ANGELES WE ARE GOING 70 AND ALL THE SUDDEN LOST GAS PEDAL IN LINE ONE WITH A BUNCH OF RIGGS AROUND ME. TRYING TO GET TO THE SHOULDER LINE JUST WITH IMPULSE OF THE TRUCK ,STOP ON THE SHOULDER AND TURN IT OFF WAITED LIKE 5 MINUTES AND RESTARTED AND GOT HOME. AT HOME WHEN TRY TO RESTART IT WOULD NOT STAR AT ALL. TOOK THE DEALER THEY SAY GOT FIX . DROVE IT FOR ABOUT 50 MILES AND THE SAME PROBLEM BUT THIS TIME MY WIFE WAS DRIVING IT WITH ALL MY FAMILY ABOARD ON THE 405 FWY ON THE SECOND LINE ON FWY WITH FIVE LINE EACH WAY. ALSO NO PEDAL POWER TOOK IT TO CUROSCO FORD IN LONG BEACH. CUROSCO FORD AND FORD TECH ADVISE IT WAS PEDAL CONTROL ORDER THE PEDAL CONTROL. WAS TOLD THE TRUCK WILL BE READY 5 DAY LATER. WENT TO THE DEALER FIVE DAYS LATER. THE TECH SAY THEY INSTALL THE PADEL AND TEST DROVE IT, BUT FIVE MILES LATER STILL LOST PEDAL CONTROL, THIS IS 20 DAYS LATER AND THE TRUCK STILL NOT FIX CAN NOT FIND THE PROPLEM ON IT. BOUGHT THE TRUCK ON 07/31/2018 AND I HAD IT ON MY POSSESSION FOR ABOUT 20 PUT 1500 MILES. FORD SAY I CAN TRADE THAT IN LOOSE 25000.00 AND THAT ALL THEY CAN DO.. LEMON LAW DOES NOT COVER BECAUSE IT HAS NOT HAPPEN THREE TIME AND I AM NOT WILLING TO TRY FOR THE THIRD TIME AND HAVE AND ACCIDENT.

How to use these: a complaint is one owner’s report, filed voluntarily and published unverified. Patterns matter more than any single story. If several owners describe the same failure at similar mileage, put that system at the top of your pre-purchase inspection list. Back to the full 2018 Ford F-250 Supercab verdict →
