Our 2108, Ford F-250, Lariat model with extended cab, the sunroof brackets (plastic) broke and the sunroof can not be opened or closed, and became loose. The brackets that hold the glass in place are made of plastic and they deteriorated to the point where they would no longer hold the glass in place. This is possibly a safety concern as the glass may detach from the roof and cause injury in the cab, or possibly fly off and impact oncoming vehicles or vehicles behind the F250. These brackets should not be made of plastic due to the very large glass sunroofs weight. This is a known problem as indicated by many others on youtube.com, and other online website postings. Our F250 was taken into our local Ford dealership service department and upon inspection the tech indicated that both sides of the plastic arm brackets were broken and the window was non-operable. As per technicians official vehicle report it required replacement of FL3Z 1651070 E :GUIDE. Cost was $945.47 to replace plastic brackets which will more than likely break again after minimal strain due to the heavy weight of the glass sunroof.

The driver's side rear door locks freeze, and once the door is opened it will not stay closed/latched. I have a video of the door not latching shut, and bouncing back open when attempting to close it. This is the same issue as outlined in Customer Satisfaction Program 18N03; however, the dealer and Ford Corporate advised my VIN is not included on the recall for this issue. When the door lock is frozen and the door will not shut, the automatic running board on the driver's side will not close and the light on the bottom of the driver's mirror and inside the vehicle stays on. If you hold the door shut with your hand or put a ratchet strap on it to hold it in place, the running board closes and the lights go off. This is unsafe for passengers of the rear of the vehicle as the door will not latch when frozen. This issue has been witnessed by the local dealership, but they tell me the VIN is not on the recall list for this issue. Attached pictures show the door closed but running board out and mirror side light on, holding door shut and running board in and side light off, and door ajar when trying to close it and it not latching.

MY TRUCK TAILGATE IS OPENING WITHOUT CAUSE. IT HAPPENED 3 TIMES BEFORE A RECALL WAS SUPPOSEDLY COMPLETED IN JANUARY AND HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES SINCE. TWICE WHEN PULLING A TRAILER JUST AFTER STARTING TO BACKUP. THAT LAST WAS WHEN MY CAR PLAY MALFUNCTIONED WITH THE APPLE PHONE. DURING TROUBLESHOOTING WORK THE TAILGATE OPENED WHILE SITTING IN MY DRIVEWAY. I HAVE DAMAGE TO THEN GATE CAUSED BY A TRAILER STRIKE ON 1 OPENING AND THE DEALERSHIP IS NOT HELPFUL AND HAS NOT TAKEN THIS SERIOUSLY. THIS WILL HAPPEN AGAIN..

LAST WINTER I HAD ISSUES WITH THE FROZEN DOOR LOCKS. MY DOORS WOULD OPEN BUT NOT CLOSE AND A FEW TIMES THEY WOULD NOT OPEN. THIS WINTER IT HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES AND JUST RECENTLY THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR HAS COME OPEN AS WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. THERE WERE NO NOTIFICATIONS ON THE DASH CLUSTER OR INTERIOR LIGHTS ON THAT WOULD INDICATE THAT A DOOR WAS OPEN. JUST THIS PAST WEEK I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE IN THE MAIL. I TOOK THE TRUCK IN TO THE DEALERSHIP ON NOV 13, 2019 AND PICKED UP THE TRUCK ON THE SAME DAY. I DROVE FROM THE DEALERSHIP STRAIGHT HOME JUST UNDER 2 MILES AND I OPEN MY DOOR AND IT WOULD NOT CLOSE AND LATCH. I TOOK IT DIRECTLY BACK AND NOW I SEEING THAT THERE ARE NO OPEN RECALLS ON MY TRUCK.

WHILE PUTTING MY F250 IN GEAR (DRIVE), THE TRUCK TAILGATE WAS AUTOMATICALLY OPENED, WHICH THEN CRUNCHED INTO MY GOOSE NECK TRAILER WHEN MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN. THE TAIL GATE HAS OPENED 3 TIME, WITHOUT USER INTERVENTION, IN THE FIRST 6 WEEKS I'VE OWNED THE VEHICLE.

3 TIMES MY TAILGATE HAS OPENED SPONTANEOUSLY. TWICE WHILE DRIVING IN RAIN ON A HIGHWAY, AND ONCE WHILE DRIVING IN SNOW IN TOWN. I HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO REPLICATE THE PROBLEM MYSELF. IT SEEMS TO BE RANDOM. I HAVE 6000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE NOW.

TRUCK HAS AUTO TAILGATE RELEASE. TRUCK WAS STATIONARY. THE TAILGATE HAS DROPPED / RELEASED TWICE BY ITSELF. TAILGATE RELEASED AND DROPPED WHILE TRUCK WAS NOT IN PARK. ONE TIME THIS OCCURED WHEN I RELEASED THE PARKING BRAKE. WHEN THIS HAPPENS I NEED TO EXIT AND CLOSE THE TAILGATE. CONCERNED THAT WHEN THIS HAPPENS CARGO COULD DROP OUT ONTO THE ROAD AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT AND OR CARGO COULD BE STOLEN FROM THE TRUCK BED.

How to use these: a complaint is one owner’s report, filed voluntarily and published unverified. Patterns matter more than any single story. If several owners describe the same failure at similar mileage, put that system at the top of your pre-purchase inspection list. Back to the full 2018 Ford F-250 Supercab verdict →
