What 1,129 owners told NHTSA about the 2012 Ford Edge

Intermittently when you hit a bump, the brake pedal goes to the floor and may stay that way for a couple of days and then it comes back. This is the second brake booster ford replaced, I see that brakes are a constant problem on these vehicles, this repair is costing me a $1000.00 the car only has 90000 miles on it. My wife is afraid to drive it anymore.

My engine stopped as I was driving approximately 60 mph on the highway. Weather clear, dry, 90 degrees. I coasted to the side of the road. Engine immediately started. I drove a short distance and the vehicle stalled again. It again started and I drove a short distance to pull into a safe location. See on internet site that these vehicle are prone to this and are dangerous. Drove another 40 miles back home with no problems.

Summer 2022 my brakes started giving out … when coming to a stop, the brake pad goes all of the way to the floor makes a sound similar to a pump or a hiss. It “corrected” itself after a few pumps on the brake peddle after about five minutes. It happened a second time so I took it back to the company who had replaced my brakes 2/3 yrs prior … they could not find anything wrong w/them. It happened again, I took car back to same place with same results. Later in the year it happened for a 4th time but did not correct itself as it had in the past, I drove home at 30mph for over 30 minutes leaving a lot of space between myself and cars in front. The car sat for about a month then my brother drove it and experienced the same problem. I had the car towed to a mechanic who could not replicate the problem therefore could not fix what he couldn’t find but he did bleed the brakes. I rented a car for a short while but when I did drive it again, the same problem occurred and corrected itself. I took it to a different mechanic who also could not replicate the problem, he tried 3 times. I have experienced the same problem at least three times this year, the last time being last week. My and any passengers safety is at risk daily; fortunately, most times I have been parking or on surface streets when this has happened. There have been no warning signs before the brakes give out. I plan on taking car to dealership this weekend.

The alarm will not work when the car detects the door is not shut, so the interior lights will not turn off. Will this affect my battery? When I drive with the sensor on the dashboard states the door is not closed and the interior light will not shut off which becomes a distraction at night. When driving the car, the locks will not work because the dashboard senses the door is not closed. This is a family car with a child still in a car seat. Anyone can jump in my car? There a lot of blogs I found with the same situation, so Ford must know that the problem exists. The door has not been damaged. This is not part of wear and tear because a door is something that need to open and close. The situation is getting worse and worse that when im driving the dashboard announces the closed door is now open and unlocks all my doors and turns on my interior lights on.
