This has been a recall for over 5 months and my van is still not repaired and my two middle seats are unsafe for my children to be in. Toyota and the dealership say there is no fix, but the car is unsafe in the second row per their recommendation.

On [XXX], I purchased a 2025 Toyota Sienna XLE Hybrid subject to NHTSA Recall 25V668 (Toyota Recall 25TA12 — second-row seat rail suspect welds), publicly announced on 10/07/2025. The selling dealer marketed the vehicle as "Certified Used" on Cars.com for at least 64 days after the recall was announced. The dealer's sales representative also represented the vehicle in writing via SMS as "Gold Certified" with the full Toyota Certified Used Vehicle warranty package on [XXX] — one day before sale. The dealer disclosed the recall only at the closing table on [XXX], after I had relied on the prior representations to negotiate the price, submit a credit application, drive to the dealership, and tender a down payment. Toyota's interim recall guidance prohibits occupation of the second-row seats until remedy is performed. The remedy is currently not available. My [XXX] daughter has [XXX] and uses a wheelchair; second-row sliding-door access is essential for her safe transport. The vehicle has been in dealer storage since 01/08/2026 because it cannot safely transport my family. As of 05/24/2026 — 229 days after the recall was announced — no remedy date is available per the dealer's Service Manager. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. Component failure: second-row seat rails (potentially improperly welded per Toyota's recall description). The defect has not been independently inspected; the recall is documented by Toyota and NHTSA. No warning lamps or symptoms appear because the defect manifests only in high-speed collisions. The recall on the 2nd row seat welding makes this row unusable per Toyota’s recommendation until they get a remedy. There is no estimated date on when the remedy will be available and Toyota is offering no solution to this. I have 2 small kids, one [XXX] and one [XXX] . I brought home my newborn in this car before the recall notice was sent out. It is our hybrid family vehicle and we cannot use it due to this recall and there is no remedy available for who knows how long. They have no offered me a loaner at the dealership near me plus they likely do not have a Sienna as a loaner because according to them Sienna’s are well sought out. We were notified by Toyota that it was unsafe to transport our children in the second row seats in November 2025 and the vehicle was under a recall. This puts our children at risk such that we cannot use the vehicle for its intended purpose, namely, transporting our three young children. A letter from NHTSA stated Toyota would have a remedy by 12/6. The manufacturer (Toyota) confirmed this recall. Given that Toyota has not indicated a solution date for this and the problem was discovered in October 2025 I believe the manufacturer has failed or is unable to remedy this safety recall for our vehicle in a timely manner and would like to officially log a complaint with NHTSA

I am filing a formal complaint regarding my brand‑new 2025 Toyota Sienna, purchased in February 2025 for nearly $70,000. I am still paying interest on this vehicle, which has failed to perform as promised. From early ownership, the vehicle had issues including multimedia malfunctions and unsafe lane‑change behavior on rough roads. In October 2025, Toyota issued a recall for faulty second‑row seats due to improper welding, creating serious safety concerns. This recall has effectively defeated the purpose of purchasing the vehicle. The Sienna was bought as a seven‑seater, but due to the recall it functions as a four‑seater, making it impractical and unsafe for my family. Daily use now causes: Increased back pain from bending to seat and secure children Children kneeling to access the third row, causing pain and injury risk Risk of dropping a child, slipping in rain/snow/ice, or being struck by passing vehicles when exiting backward Significant difficulty for an elderly parent with back pain Ongoing fear that the recalled seats could fail in an accident and injure occupants I contacted Legends Toyota (Kansas City 66109) and Toyota headquarters. The dealership offered unsuitable replacements, including a smaller vehicle or one recently repaired for other issues. Toyota corporate has provided no meaningful remedy, only loaner vehicles that are not equivalent to what I purchased. I believe this represents serious consumer harm: Toyota collected a large sum for a vehicle that cannot be safely or reasonably used and has failed to resolve a known safety defect while continuing to sell newer models without guarantees. I respectfully request an investigation and a fair remedy, such as a refund or equivalent replacement. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

The vehicle is a 2025 Toyota Sienna Hybrid subject to a safety recall related to the rear seating area (third row). We were informed by the manufacturer and dealership that no remedy is currently available and that the vehicle may be unsafe to operate as intended. The concern involves potential safety risks with the rear seating system, which affects safe passenger use, especially for family transportation. As a result, we have limited use of the vehicle and do not transport our children in it due to safety concerns. While the vehicle is still occasionally driven, it cannot be safely used for its intended family purpose. The issue has not been resolved, and we have not received a loaner vehicle or alternative transportation despite multiple attempts through the dealership and manufacturer escalation channels. No repair has been performed, and the issue remains open under recall status.

No specific incident occurred. This recall has been active for almost 7 months. I am uncomfortable putting my newborn in the middle rows of seats that are affected and my wife has a medical condition where putting our newborn in the back row is difficult. We are only using our other vehicle at this time until the recall is fixed. 7 months without remedy is unacceptable.

Due to safety recall 25TA12 anyone sitting in the second row has an increased risk of injury during a collision. This remedy has taken far too long to implement. The reason for the purchase included passenger capacity and safety. My use is now limited. Toyota should have already remedied this situation.

Toyota issued a recall in fourth quarter 2025 for this batch of Toyota Siennas that have bad welds on the second row seats and as a result of these, no one should be sitting in the second row. Toyota still doesn't have a fix in place for the 50k vehicles with this problem. Publicly Toyota says a fix is on the way, but at the dealership the service department has indicated that they've heard nothing on this. I am in a loaner from Toyota for the foreseeable future and it doesn't seem like I have much recouse through lemon laws based on the way Toyota issued the recall.

See attached document for complaint. My husband and I purchased a Sienna, 7-passenger van, April 2025 and have received two safety recalls, the first being the lack of second-row seats being installed correctly presenting a safety problem, and later a possible problem with the backup camera. We purchased a vehicle of that size especially for the convenience of transporting family when they visit. Also, we have a granddaughter, husband and one-year old great-grandson who live nearby and thought having a van would be helpful for trips together. Unfortunately, all our hopes were diminished at being able to enjoy the reason we purchased such an expensive vehicle, $65,000+. We are an elderly, retired couple, considered the vehicle an investment, because our two previous Toyota vehicles had lasted us for 15 years with no problems. Therefore hoping our daughter and grandchildren would be able to use the van for many years. The van has been nothing but an Albatross, not being able to drive it with only two passengers, in the front, since learning of the first recall on the second row seats. The local dealer told me if I’d get an appointment and be at their door at 7:00 a.m. they could repair the camera. BUT, dealers have no fix from Toyota for the second row seats. However, I went on line to the Toyota web site and they have a “FIX” process listed. I cannot imagine how a vehicle maker can be allowed to sell a vehicle when they find out it has such safety hazards? We consumers can beg our Legislators to pass laws to that effect, but, hope your agency will take the lead on protecting us consumers since we know this Congress will do nothing. I ask your agency to please take action on this issue and prod Toyota to do something concerning the major safety hazards with their 2025 model Sienna vans.

The affected component appears to be the rear seat / seat track recall system. I took my Toyota vehicle to the dealership / repair center in approximately October 2025 for recall-related repair, and the vehicle was then kept there for months. During that time, I was deprived of the use of the vehicle while continuing to make lease payments. I repeatedly contacted the repair center for updates but was not provided a clear repair completion date. Toyota and the dealership later claimed that the recall had been repaired only after the stated 60-day buyback review period had expired, yet NHTSA’s VIN lookup still showed the same recall as unrepaired for my vehicle. No credible current documentation was provided showing the exact recall repair completion date or the work performed. Under these circumstances, I am not comfortable accepting return of the vehicle. My children ride in the rear seat, and because this recall involves the seat / seat track area, I cannot reasonably be expected to trust the vehicle without clear proof that the recall repair was properly completed. I have also experienced a serious accident in the past, which makes this issue even more concerning to me. At this point, I have lost confidence in Toyota’s handling of this matter. I am seeking repurchase of the vehicle and fair final resolution.
