2023 JEEP Wrangler Sahara 4xe has been recalled several times for battery potential fire risk issues due to faulty hi voltage battery design. Each time, a software patch was applied to provide a 'fix'. With my engineering background, I am very sensitive to machinery and its behavior. I have noticed with each successive update, the power output of the traction battery has been capped or limited to restrict maximum current draw from the battery to prevent over heating. With the latest 68C recall, there is now a clear safety issue. Power is restricted so much, pulling on a highway is dangerous. As I accelerate, battery output climbs to 50%, the engine comes on and there is a significant pause before acceleration can resume safely. Under battery only acceleration, the car bogs down with loss of power. The 4xe no longer resembles the vehicle I purchased. Jeep needs to do a physical remedy to restore original specs or buy back the car, 100% of purchase price. This is a clear safety issue. While Jeep has tried to fix the fire risk, they have created a new safety hazard.

Failed Component: Powertrain (PCM/TCM/HCP software calibration) & Electrical/Steering (Fire Recalls). Safety Risk & Description: Following recent mandatory manufacturer software updates, this vehicle has developed a severe, dangerous drivetrain defect. Under light acceleration from a complete stop, the vehicle exhibits an extreme throttle lag and hard delay before violently surging forward, creating a high risk of intersection collisions. Furthermore, at sustained highway speeds (52–63 MPH), the vehicle abruptly drops out of Electric Mode, causing the gas engine to violently spike to 5,000 RPMs before dropping back. This erratic cycling causes the vehicle to lurch, jerk, and pull, actively disrupting lane control. Compounding this, due to consecutive, unresolved fire safety recalls—including Recall 68C (Battery Fires) and the June 2026 Power Steering Pump wiring fire recall—the vehicle cannot be safely parked inside my garage or near structures while turned off. It represents a total loss of normal use and a severe safety liability. Dealer Confirmation & History: The driving defect was formally duplicated and confirmed by a certified technician on 06/09/2026 at Ryan Auto Mall (Repair Order #471599). The technician explicitly documented the electric mode dropouts and acceleration lag in writing. However, because the vehicle’s software masking prevents standard Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) from triggering, the dealer closed the ticket stating it is "operating as designed." The vehicle's electrical and hybrid systems have been repeatedly altered via mandatory safety recalls: Recall 23A/04B (05/14/2024), Recall 95B (05/27/2025), and Recall 68C (02/11/2026). No dashboard warning lights are present; the dangerous handling is entirely coded into the manufacturer's latest software updates. Vehicle is intact and available for inspection.

Following 2nd battery recall, acceleration, especially with the electric on, is sluggish and then suddenly electric fails and gas engine kicks in with a lurch. Electric no longer has the power it did prior to the recall and this provides uncertain acceleration for entering freeway from onramps or during other periods of needed acceleration.

On 12/06/2025, I purchased a 2023 Jeep Wrangler 4xe from a Chrysler Jeep dealership in Myrtle Beach, SC. Recall 68C (NHTSA 25V741000) had been published on 11/05/2025 — one month prior to my purchase. The recall involves high voltage battery cells with separator damage that may cause a vehicle fire while parked or driving. A Stop Sale order was active on this VIN at the time of sale. I raised the recall and fire risk during the purchase. The salesperson responded that "a fire could happen in any car" and continued to minimize my wife's specific safety concerns through sustained pressure until we agreed to purchase. No documentation was provided showing the recall had been remedied prior to delivery. The recall remains OPEN as of today. Third-party vehicle history data confirms Stop Sale: YES tied to 68C. We cannot charge the vehicle or use it as intended. We are unable to obtain timely service — the dealership reports months-long wait times with no loaner vehicle available. The vehicle has not been inspected or repaired for this defect. No warning lamps were present at purchase. The vehicle was available for sale and delivered to us despite the active Stop Sale designation. The safety risk is ongoing. We are parked away from structures per NHTSA guidance and have ceased charging the vehicle. This complaint is being filed as part of a formal legal record.

The hybrid propulsion system in my 2023 Jeep Wrangler 4xe intermittently malfunctions while driving. The “D” (Drive) indicator on the gear selector begins flashing, and the engine RPMs suddenly decrease without warning. During these events, the vehicle loses propulsion power and responsiveness. After several seconds, the vehicle may return to normal operation. This failure affects the hybrid powertrain and transmission system. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. This condition creates a serious safety risk because the sudden loss of propulsion reduces the vehicle’s ability to accelerate or maintain speed in traffic. This is especially dangerous when merging, crossing intersections, or driving at highway speeds, as it increases the risk of collision due to loss of power and reduced vehicle control. The vehicle has been evaluated by a Jeep dealership service department. The dealership has not provided a permanent repair, and the manufacturer recall affecting the hybrid system remains open and unresolved. The recall repair has not been performed, and the hybrid malfunction continues to occur. The vehicle has been inspected by dealership personnel, but the issue remains unresolved. The dealership indicated that replacing the 12-volt battery may help, but no definitive root cause has been identified, and the hybrid system malfunction continues. There were no battery warning lights prior to or during the failure. The primary symptom is the flashing “D” indicator and sudden decrease in RPMs, followed by temporary recovery. This indicates a malfunction of the hybrid propulsion system. This unresolved hybrid system failure presents an ongoing safety hazard and loss of propulsion while driving.

After first month the trouble began. It’s a diesel. Many times this car has stalled in traffic — while stopped in traffic and while driving at high speeds. Everything just turns off and steering wheel locks up. It says to put in park. After many tries to start, it will turn back on. Has been taken to dealer many times and nothing has worked. I’ve left Jeep there for months at a time, and they still can’t fix it. This is a safety hazard. Someone might get killed by this. How can this be allowed? We need help desperately.

There is another recall 2nd one for this vehicle that now I cannot charge it . Park near other vehicles or in my garage due to fear of fire. Dealership says they are doing approx 1-2 a month and I am #59 on the list. I have not been offered a replacement vehicle. They told me I could not trade it in because it is “unsellable”.

two issues. the first involves shaking and veering which continues since the purchase and this is the fourth time i have had concerns with this. vehicle it shakes at any speed and violently if i dont let up off the gas. the second issue occured while driving on the 5 freeway with the speed control on and suddenly there was a loud boom thud sound behind the front seet like running over a tire or something, the vehicle began to slow i applie gas and noticed the panel radio etc all working but a message appeared to stop or pull over and park and restart; however when i looked down to see if was in gear and it was in D and blinking like it does in park assist. the screen also ramdomly swithche the view. vehicle is currently in the dealership.

I am submitting this complaint regarding a confirmed safety-related defect and manufacturer nonresponse involving my 2023 Jeep Wrangler Willys 4xe, VIN [XXX] . The failed component is the high-voltage hybrid battery system. The vehicle and battery pack are currently located at an authorized Jeep dealership and are available for inspection. The vehicle was delivered to the dealership on December 29, 2025 for recall-related service. On December 30, 2025, the dealership confirmed a high-voltage battery failure. A STAR case was opened and escalated to Stellantis engineering. The vehicle was immediately removed from service and has remained unusable since that date. Prior to removal from service, the vehicle experienced repeated loss of propulsion, Electric Mode Temporarily Unavailable messages, and driveline warnings during normal operation. These symptoms were reported over multiple service visits and documented by video. The vehicle was repeatedly returned to service with repair notes stating “could not replicate” and assurances that it was safe to operate, park indoors, and charge. Those assurances were later contradicted by the confirmed battery failure and recall-related safety restrictions, exposing my family and home to avoidable safety risk. The vehicle is subject to Recall Campaign 68C. Despite confirmation of a safety-related battery failure, Stellantis has not provided a written remediation plan, assigned a decision owner, or communicated a resolution timeline. The dealership has confirmed that further action is blocked pending manufacturer authorization. Stellantis initiated corporate contact by phone on January 27 and January 29, 2026. I responded in writing and by voicemail requesting written follow-up and confirmation of ownership. Stellantis did not respond in writing and did not return my voicemail. Lost all power to vehicle after driving for approximately 40 minutes, around 60-70 MPH. I was driving on the highway and then lost all power. I was able to pull off of the interstate and got a few blinking messages. The only one I remember was "Shift to P to Start". I could not accelerate at all and probably had less than a minute to get to safety before the car coasted to a stop and I was forced to put the car in park and turn it back on. It seemed like a forced restart on a computer but you could not choose the time or place to do it and there was very little warning. This is a huge safety issue!

DISAPPEARING SAFETY RECORDS: I possess a prior screenshot from the official portal confirming that Recall 95B (High Voltage Battery) was also successfully REPAIRED by the same dealer. However, this record has recently DISAPPEARED from the active recall list on the manufacturer's website. My 2023 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 4xe (VIN [XXX] ) has experienced repeated failures in the high-voltage hybrid electrical system, including “Service Hybrid System” warnings, failure to hold charge, and loss of EV function. It has also experienced a dangerous front steering damper failure at highway speed. All components remain available for inspection upon request, and the vehicle is still in my possession. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The hybrid system failures have caused repeated drivability issues, unpredictable power delivery, and warnings advising me not to operate or charge the vehicle due to potential battery-related safety risks. More critically, the steering damper failed abruptly at approximately 75 mph, causing severe front-end instability, vibration, and momentary difficulty maintaining directional control. This failure created an immediate risk of a loss-of-control crash on the highway. Last week the cat went in for the open recalls. However the electrical and propulsion problems are still going on so I think it’s more than software. The car jerks and come close to stalling almost like a standard transmission with the clutch not catching properly. Additionally, and this is separate and does not occur with the problem described above. The dashboard lights randomly go off. It has no correlation to anything just randomly shut off then come back on.

Jeep and NHTSA have both advised owners not to charge or park the vehicle near structures due to a potential fire hazard. This makes the vehicle unsafe and unusable under normal lease conditions. I contacted my leasing company, Chrysler Capital, to request assistance because the vehicle cannot be safely used or parked. Their representatives repeatedly refused to escalate or document my case and stated that they “can’t do anything,” including refusing to provide a supervisor’s ID or written confirmation. I feel unsafe keeping or driving the vehicle, and I believe I should not be charged lease fees or penalties while it is under this recall. I am requesting that this issue be investigated and that Jeep and Chrysler Capital provide appropriate lease termination or safety accommodations.

On October 25th, 2025 my husband and I were driving home on the freeway. All of a sudden, without any warning notice or check engine light, my hybrid 2023 Jeep caught on fire as we were in it driving down the freeway. The fire started under the hood and under us. Flames were coming up the sides of the Jeep as we drove and were getting bigger then coming in the vents and under the hood. My husband pulled the Jeep over to the shoulder and we quickly got out and away from the Jeep and called 911 for help. Cars were still driving down the freeway as the Jeep was engulfed in flames. Our safety was put at high risk since we were driving on the freeway at highway speeds and the Jeep caught on fire without any warning and my husband and I were sitting inside the Jeep traveling while it was actively on fire and getting worse. We were located right by the fire as we were driving. It was under us, in front of us and growing around us. Others were put at risk because there was a large fire on the side of the freeway as other vehicles were driving by. A semi truck almost hit the median in the freeway when it probably noticed what was going on. Further, vehicles were driving in the right hand lane right beside the active fire. My Jeep was sparking, throwing flames and some things exploded. Jeep hybrids have had problems and my Jeep has had many recalls and problems. Stellantis was involved with the last few dealership service visits. The Jeep was not charging so a new charging system was put in it at the dealership. The Jeep had a red turtle come on as I was driving and it drastically slowed my speed down suddenly. I pulled over and then my Jeep turned off and would not start again for hours. The dealership, with Stellantis involved, put in a new rechargeable battery. These were some of the things done recently prior to my Jeep catching on fire en route in addition to many recalls/updates. There were no warning signs at all prior to his Jeep fire.

I have a hybrid jeep 4xe, 2023. Allegedly unaffected by the software issue over the weekend that caused countless issues for 2024 and 2025 jeeps. My 2023 jeep wrangler 4xe stopped suddenly while driving. Unfortunately, I panicked in the moment, so I do not remember if it completely powered off or if it just lost propulsion, but it stopped. I had to turn the car off and then back on to get it to go the next day. My check engine light came on for about 24 hours and went off again.

There is a problem with my electrical system. I have brought it in to jeep several times, and they have brushed it off. In July 2024 I was driving and the car shut off in the middle of traffic. I was able to come to a stop in a turning lane, but it was a dangerous, scary situation. When I took it to the dealership, they said they could not replicate it and sent me on my way. In March 2024 I was stranded at night at a dog park when my car wouldn't start. There was a message stating that the electrical system needed to be serviced. I had it towed to the dealership and they said it was just the engine battery and an issue with a sensor that was put in upside down. In October 2024 I received a notice not to charge my battery or park it in or near buildings. There was no fix. Then, they had software update that was supposed to fix internal problems with the batteries. I asked for a new battery without the issues, and they said no. The scariest, and biggest problem I'm having, though, is that intermittently I lose power when trying to accelerate into traffic. This has led to many scary incidents of other drivers nearly hitting me and being very upset. The most recent incident was on Wednesday, February 12. I was driving on highway 12 in the morning on my way to work and a car pulled in front of me. To avoid a collision, I swerved to the left lane and tried to accelerate to get out of the way of the car behind me and my car would not accelerate. I had to take my foot off the gas, then push again to get it to go. It was terrifying and dangerous. The car behind me nearly hit me, and they honked and were very upset. This situation happens probably once or twice a month. I had my car in the shop to address these issues and I had a rental car and Jeep said they would work with the dealer to repair. They never did. Never called me back, and now they are refusing my rental reimbursement. I don't have anymore money to pay for another so I'm stuck

2023 vehicle no problems until 95B safety recall was performed. Warning light low air next day. Two wks after recall serv. and less than 4-6 months after reg. Maint. & oil change the check engine light came on upon start. Checked and the black coolant reservoir the caps dip stick was void of fluid I was told. Called dealer to advise. Visited dealership the head mechanic dx that the gas cap seal is bad.the check engine light off and not the low to empty coolant. Complaint is the warning light panel. The electrical wires exposed hanging broken small panel on the passengers side of the rearview mirror. Noticed after pickup from dealership. This was addressed with service depart. These panel, coolant, panel broke handing wires, gas cap seal are all issues after recall services. I believe it is unlikely just electrical issues that occurred when it was recently in for the battery recall requiring overnight parking. It was left overnight as they needed to know if it would catch fire. I was not informed if it was necessary as I’ve read to test drive it on electric before it was returned to me. The advisor was in days off happened to be in and was pleasant but I felt rushed. I was given the paper to sign and just told all is well, period. Broken panel part with electrical wires hanging out of rearview mirror. Gas cap seal that is now faulty setting of warning check engine light but not the LOW coolant? No explanation for damaged panel part and reason for messing with the wires. Concerns are engine, electrical and panel failure. Engine should not have issue with coolant. It never should’ve gotten to that point. The fact that there was low to no coolant as the dip stick didn’t register any. It’s a solid black reservoir not able to visibly check for coolant.I find it’s a safety issue, a mechanical issue. The head mechanic is saying that we would’ve never known about coolant needed had it not been for the only 2 yr old gas cap that leaves engine warning light on.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Jeep 4xe: after coming to a complete stop or just slowing down and entering a lower gear, has a 1-2 second delay in the accelerator. Has caused tires to squeal when accelerator started to respond. Have almost caused accidents when becoming unresponsive as the vehicle will move forward but lose accelerator power. This happens infrequently and spontaneously which makes it impossible to plan for/ drive defensively against, cannot replicate or force it to happen. Vehicle can be inspected upon request. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Vehicle will move forward after stopping, such as an intersection, and suddenly does not increase for 1-2 seconds making me a hazard to traffic. This happens maybe 1-3x a week and is impossible to replicate. Have been almost rear ended many times as no brake lights appear when this happens. Have almost been t-boned by oncoming traffic because of the delay. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? No. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Vehicle has had engine repaired and inspected by dealership. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No.
