The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the Trailer Brake Power Module (TBPM) was replaced; however, the failure persisted. The contact related the failure to GM Customer Satisfaction Program Number: N232414840 (Intermittent Loss of Trailer Brakes). The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance in adding the VIN to the Customer Satisfaction Program. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 110,000.

My 2022 GMC Sierra 2500HD was previously repaired under GM safety recall N232426400 / NHTSA recall 24V060 for the power-unlatching tailgate switch, which can fail from water intrusion. The recall repair was completed and the recall now shows as closed. Recently, the same tailgate switch problem occurred again. The dealer diagnosed water intrusion/corrosion affecting the tailgate release switch circuit, including damage to the related wiring harness/connector. GMC customer assistance stated they could not assist because the recall is closed. I am reporting this as a possible failed or inadequate recall remedy. The same water-intrusion condition addressed by the recall appears to have recurred after the recall repair, and the vehicle now requires additional repair to the same tailgate release system. This raises concern that the recalled safety defect was not fully remedied and that other vehicles may experience repeat failures after the recall is marked complete.

At the time of purchase, the vehicle mileage was 92,000, and at the time of registration, it was discovered that the mileage was 98,325. The Carfax report was not available at the time of purchase. The mileage discrepancy was later identified through the vehicle manufacturer’s Mobile App.

I had taken our GMC Sierra 2500 with LT275/R20 Goodyear Wrangler tires into Henderson Chevrolet for maintenance and to have the tires checked. The technician stated that the front tires were showing tread separation. I was shocked because the tires only had around 20,000 miles. The truck is not used for towing and is kept in the garage away from the sun. I asked the technician to double check the rear tires for separation and he stated they were fine. A couple of weeks later, I was driving to California and there was a loud bang on the rear driver side. The truck indicated the the tire was losing pressure. I pulled over to the side of the busy road as soon as possible. The entire tread was missing form the tire and when it came off it damaged the wheel well and the rear bumper and taillight.There was a lot of traffic on the highway and not much shoulder it was a pretty scary and unsafe situation I but got the tire changed with the spare. About an hour later the passenger side tire blew up, there was way more damage on this side including bent exhaust and damage to the fender. I had to get roadside assistance to change the tire so I changed both rear tires so i could have a spare.When I took the car back to Henderson Chevrolet they told me this is a common problem they have had 10 in the last 6 months. Boulder Autobody said they had seen 7 in the last 6 months. Henderson Chevrolet sent both tires to Goodyear to be examined and they conveniently lost one of them and stated that the tires were not defective. Thank goodness no one was hurt, this could have easily killed someone.

After driving my truck, once I park and turn the truck off it will not shut down electronically due to an error on the dash display that reads “shift to park”. Sometimes I have to mess with the gear shifter when the truck is in park to get it to register that it is parked and shut down completely. It can take up to 15 minutes sometimes to shut down.

The contact stated that while driving approximately 70 MPH, there was an explosion, and the entire tread width of the front driver side tire delaminated and wrapped around the axle. The contact stated that the tire did not deflate, and the radial belts were visible. No warning light illuminated. The contact stated that two months later, with the second set of tires on the vehicle, the failure reoccurred with the driver’s side rear tire. The dealer was contacted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, and the two front tires were replaced. The contact stated that with the second set of four tires, the failure had occurred twice. The tires were the original equipment. The contact stated that the tires had a tread depth of 4/32. The contact attempted to notify the manufacturer, but the call was disconnected. The failure mileage was approximately 26,000.

LT275/65R20 is tire size. On 26 August 2025 the tread separated from the left front tire completely, but the tire did not go flat. Traveling in Texas near Christoval, TX at 75 mph on smooth roads. The vehicle had 26,000+ miles and tread depth was over 4/32nd. Front tires were replaced. On 21 October 2025 the tread separated from the left rear tire 90 percent of circumference and the tire ripped open. Vehicle had 27,600+ miles on it. Traveling near McLoud, OK on Hwy 102? at about 50 mph on smooth road. Rear two tires replaced on 23 October. These two tires are in my possession for inspection, tread depth was 4/32nd and 5/32nd. Claims have been submitted to insurance. Picture of 2nd incident attached. These two incidents indicate to me that these tires are defective and should be recalled. Failure has been verified by GMC dealer and Walmart. There were no warning lights either time.

The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 53,824.

I am receiving a "Shift to Park" warning intermittently when parking my truck. The truck is in park, but the transmission does not recognize this and flashes the warning on the dash and chimes. While this is happening, I cannot lock the vehicle, and the battery is being drained. I have read that this is a known issue with other GMC models as well. I just was given a $1074 bill to replace the transmission control with park sensor.

I started complaining about this to the dealerships before my warranty was up but they kept giving me the run around avoiding the fix and now that the warranty is expired they want to help me for a ridiculous fee. This issue happens randomly at least one day a week.

I was driving my 2022 GMC 2500 HD (not towing, just normal drive) after an oil change <900 miles ago and new brakes/rotors 3 days prior <100 miles (total mileage 81,000, serviced exclusively at GMC dealership) when the loss of power alert flashed on the screen. I was 2 miles from my destination, going approx 55mph, so I kept driving to destination, when the vehicle stalled in driveway. As I was scrolling through menus to see the alert I looked up and smoke and flames were coming out of the engine. I attempted to extinguish with a fire extinguisher I had with me, but it was no use. The entire engine was engulfed, melting out, tires and windshield exploded from heat etc. Total loss. Vehicle was inspected by insurance co fire investigator, no origin confirmed due to extent of damage. Vehicle was offered to GMC for their inspection as it was partially under OEM warranty and I had an extended warranty from dealership, which I also notified. Extended would not do anything without the vehicle at GMC and diagnosis, which again, there is no engine etc so not repairable. GMC was to be in contact with insurance co. No status update received.

The contact stated that while driving 70-75 MPH on one occasion, the vehicle shut off unintendedly. The contact exited the highway and pulled into a gas station. The contact stated that upon pressing the PUSH to START button, the vehicle restarted as needed. The contact stated that the failure recurred while driving on a third occasion; however, the vehicle was able to restart independently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times, but the dealer informed the contact that the failure could not be duplicated. The contact stated that the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where the battery was replaced; however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that no assistance could be provided because the vehicle was not covered under warranty. The manufacturer advised the contact to take the vehicle to the dealer while the failure was occurring; however, the contact stated that the failure was occurring intermittently. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 4,000.

The gmc trailering app will not read trailer tire pressure above 100psi. When trailer tires carry a safe psi amount above 100psi the trailering app will not be able to confirm if the trailer tire is low in pressure which could cause a massive wreck if driver did not know the trailer tire was going bad. Truck was taken to dealer, they tried to follow bulletin 22-NA-172 to have the pressure to read above 100psi. But they could not get it to work, I was told it was a trailering app issue and nothing they can do until GM takes the steps to fix the trailering app.

Trailering a trailer with electric brakes. The vehicle intermittently reports connection issues where the brakes are temporarily disabled however the trailer lights are not effected. This leads to a period of time where there are no brakes on the trailer. Pretty confident we have eliminated the trailer as causing the issue.
