What 42 owners told NHTSA about the 2022 GMC Sierra 2500 Hd

Concerning Goodyear Wrangler Trailrunner AT P275/65/20 tires that came stock with my 2022 GMC Sierra 2500HD, which currently has 42,000 miles on it. While driving a round trip of no more than 30 miles the evening of 11/29/24, I noticed a slight repetative jaring motion, which I initially attributed to a potential transmission issue. The bump rapidly worsened halfway though the drive. Upon inspection at the time, I could not see any visible damage to the tire. However, the issue escalated aggressively during my return home, resulting in the tire blowing out and detreading entirely. This failure caused significant damage to the body of my truck, amounting to an estimated $3,500 in repair costs. I believe this incident is due to a defect in the tire, as such occurrences are highly uncommon and unexpected from a product of your reputation. I have oil changes as recommended by the trucks service maunual and with ample tread left on the tire and good scores of inspection it begs the question on how a tire could fail so abruptly. I have 3 other tires with ample tread which should last at least another 10k miles but I'm gravely concerned with continued use of them for fear another blowout could cause a fatal accident.

Hello, I purchased a 2022 GMC Sierra AT4 2500 in August of 2022. I then purchased a 2022 Alliance Avenue 30RLS in September of 2022. The first time we took the Alliance Avenue out on a camping trip (October 2022), we had brake controller issues. The brake controller would suddenly disconnect and I would have an error on the screen saying that the controller was no longer connected, and the light would go off on the brake controller on the dashboard. At this point, we had no trailer brakes. This issue happened several times, and the controller would go offline and come back, sometimes within seconds, sometimes in minutes (up to 10+). Strangely, the lights and signals continued to work. After the trip, I brought the trailer back to our RV dealership where they inspected the brakes and said we were okay on that end. I then took the truck to a GMC Dealership who informed me that everything was good on their end... Next trip, same issue. Took the trailer to the RV dealership and they took the system down to the brake pads and said they didn't see anything, but they rerouted some brake wiring just in case. On the way home from the RV dealership, the brake controller continued to fail. Took the truck back to GMC, they found nothing. Had a 3rd party RV repair tech install a solar shutoff switch and replace the trailer side brake plug in pigtail to rule that out. The issue persisted. Took the truck to a Chevy Dealership, the found no issues. Took the trailer camping several times, same issue persisted, and we were in dangerous situations over the Colorado Mountains, having this fail multiple times over Eisenhower Pass and other mountain passes. Took the trailer back to the RV Dealership, they found nothing - took it to the Chevy Dealership, they replaced the truck bed plug-in. The issue persisted. The Chevy Dealership informed me there was a module replacement for the GMC 2500 2023-2024 trucks, but they could not do that for me.

She was yelling that my truck was on fire! The flames were starting to hit my eaves on my house. I put the fire out with my hose. The Sparks Fire Department had to pry open my hood to disconnect the batteries in order to stop the truck from lighting back on fire. The vehicle has been inspected by General Motors and turned over to their insurance. My insurance has also inspected the vehicle and stated they believe that the wiring to the block heater was faulty. There were no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem. This truck has 19,000 miles and is 1.5 years old (2022). How could this be turned over to GM's insurance and not under warranty? I have not had my truck for over 2 months now. I wonder how many of these trucks are lighting on fire? The truck is currently at the local dealership and is available for inspection. Trailer brake controller that is built into the truck intermittently works when towing a trailer. I will be towing down the road and all of a sudden I will get a warning on my gauge display that says “check trailer wiring” and the light that indicates that the trailer brakes are working goes out. Meanwhile, all of the lights on the trailer still work. After about one second, another message appears and says “trailer brakes connected” and the light on the brake controller comes back on. When this happens, the larger screen sometimes has a message that says “trailer brake gain recalled” but sometimes it says “brake gain not recalled”. When the message “check trailer wiring” comes on, the trailer brakes don’t work. The trailer brakes start working again when the message “trailer brakes connected” comes back on. You can feel this in the truck, especially when it goes off, on, off, on, etc while you are trying to slow down. You literally feel the truck surging as the brakes are intermittently being applied. I have taken the truck to a GMC dealership and they were not able to duplicate the issues since the issue only happens when the truck is hooked up to a trailer that has trailer brakes. I had a certified RV mechanic inspect the trailer brakes and they are working like they should. I hooked the same trailer up to a Ford F-250 and had zero issues. I hooked the same trailer back up to my GMC and immediately had the same issues. I am taking the truck and trailer to a different GMC dealership on March 11th to see if they can duplicate this and diagnose the problem. I called GM corporate customer service and they were basically no help. This is a big safety issue because the truck is not telling the trailer’s brakes to function like they are designed, which makes it much more difficult to slow down, especially going down hill. I have done a bunch of research on this problem and found numerous online forums on this topic, so I know I am not the only one experiencing this

The engine failed. The 2022 GMC Denali had 12,000 miles on it. This was a brand new truck. We were driving home at night the engine began to make noise and then cut off in the middle of the road. We had to get the car towed. The truck was left on the side of the road on a very busy highway. The dealer confirmed the engine failed and found metal shavings in the engine. The dealer has recommended a new engine from the GMC Manufacturer. The manufacturer has not yet responded to the dealerships request. The engine light did come on prior to the engine shutting off.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that there had been an impact on the moon roof, causing the moon roof to explode. The dealer replaced the moon roof. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to file an insurance claim for the failure. The issue was currently in arbitration.
