Severe spider cracking on infotainment screen - the same as a recall for earlier Mazdas but worse than any of the pictures I've seen online. the entire left edge and both corners on the right side. It started when the weather turned cold in December 2022 and grew throughout the Winter. I'm worried it will continue to grow this Winter.

On the last week of May, my car started experiencing sputtering and stalling out problems. I made an appointment at Mazda dealership for june 6th.meantime my husband checked all fluids and coolant was low so we topped up. Car was being driven very limited due to safety concerns. Then While driving on the freeway my car displayed a “excessive engine temperature, engine output will be limited” immediately my car reduced speed from about 65mph to under 15 mph while having my whole family including myself and 4 children in the car. We almost got hit by several cars while trying to get over to the shoulder. Once pulled over to the shoulder my husband came and followed me home on the back streets. Once again checked fluids and coolant again was back low this time empty. So In a day it completely had no coolant left. When taken into Mazda dealership for the appointment, customer service was so horrible I ended up leaving and taking my car to a 3rd party service center. Was advised to have a Hydrocarbon test on cooling system that measured at zero, then advised to take it for a diagnostic due to the sputtering, stalling and coolant leak, where they ultimately determined the coolant was leaking into combustion chamber &/or intake system. Pressure test shows drop in pressure, no visible external leaks present. TSB# 01-002/23 pertaining to cylinder head assembly replacement. Now I’m waiting for my appointment at a different Mazda dealership on June 12th! Please help

The engine developed a sudden coolant leak on the rear of the engine. A warning comes up stating that the car could overheat and lose power. After a few minutes and no sign of the car overheating, the car loses power and slows down on its own. The car has not yet been seen by the dealer or a repair shop due to no appointments available. Mazda USA has issued a TSB stating the issue with the engine and they state that a design flaw causes the cylinder head to crack because of the external forces from the exhaust system over bumps. The failure appeared all of a sudden with no warning lights or indications, it just started leaking a small amount of coolant one day. Now I'm waiting for Mazda USA to tell us how they are going to remedy this issue and provide assistance. According to their TSB this affects three different vehicle models with the same 2.5L turbo engine built from 2016 to 2020.

My 2019 Mazda CX-9 Signature has developed a coolant leak at the back side of the engine that is consistent with Mazda TSB 01-013/21. Coolant leaks down onto the oil filter and the exhaust where it's burned off. Currently, I can drive the vehicle, but I need to refill the radiator and coolant reservoir. I'm concerned about this developing into a catastrophic leak that could seize the engine or cause a fire from contact with the exhaust. This vehicle is still under the warranty period of 5 years/60K miles. I will initially contact the dealer regarding this issue.

Vehicle infotainment screen is developing a spider crack which its expanding over time; screen won't be usable in the future and/or may crack completely at any moment. Mazda is aware (Service Alert No.: SA-008/18 and Campaign SSPB9) and unwilling to replace/repair the faulty display, car is from 2019 with 45k miles and out of basic warranty . I was told that if regular services (oil change etc.) were done at the local dealer (Mazda of North Miami)they would have probably helped me with this issue.; last service with local dealer was on 06/2022 for another warranty claim. Very disappointed. Mazda Report# 00099443

Internal (growing) spider cracks on center displays. The cracks are internal and cannot be felt by touch. Visibility risk when trying to use the backup camera. This problem is known by Mazda and they've issued a service alert (attached) for Models 2016-2018 but for some reason excluded 2019. Currently Mazda seems unwilling to cover the repair.

I was driving down the street with my foot in the gas going about 35mph. No cars in front or behind me. All of the sudden my car brakes for no reason. It was a hard brake. My foot was on the gas pedal when this happened. Then a bunch of warnings displayed on my screen: forward smart city brake malfunction, front camera sensor system malfunction, brake override system malfunction and smart brake malfunction. My check engine light, traction control light and parking brake light also came on. This was extremely dangerous and could have caused an accident the way the car decided to brake all by itself.

2019 Mazda CX-9 GT Infotainment Screen is spidering / cracking in the upper right-hand corner making it difficult to see information on the screen. This appears to be an ongoing problem with the design / components of the infotainment screen. I note a May 2020 TSB / Dealer Notification campaign which extended the warranty coverage period to 7 years for this exact same issue in 2016-2017 model year CX-9s. The 2019 model year cars have the exact same problem and Mazda is not covering the issue.

Hi, I have a 2019 Mazda CX-9. It is a certified pre-owned vehicle we purchased in October 2020. Upon going out to our car yesterday, June 12th, 20212, I noticed that the top left of the center console screen appeared to be damaged. I was perplexed because the car was locked and it wasn't there previously. As I touched the screen, I realized that cracks/peeling were all internal within the screen. I immediately decided to Google the issue to see if others have had similar experiences, and I found dozens and dozens of examples. Separately, there is a safety alert on the issue from Mazda (see here: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2018/MC-10134920-9999.pdf). Additionally, the issue has gotten so bad that Mazda has issued a warranty extension for this specific problem (see here: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2020/MC-10176061-0001.pdf). The extension only is covering cars made through 4/29/17, and ours was made after that so is not formally covered at the moment. I called Mazda customer service, where both my cars are formally registered, to discuss the issue. They told me the best they could offer was for me to take it to a dealer, have the dealer attempt to have it covered under warranty, and Mazda corporate warranty will respond, but their response is final. If they say it's not covered, there is no debating it. As you can see from the picture, this is the exact issue that is currently being covered free of charge in earlier models. A recall should be issued or Mazda should be directed to expand this to later models since this is clearly not limited to the years they currently have listed. See the picture attached and the links above. Thank you

The front end especially on the drivers side front suspension. The noise seems to be coming from the control arms and ball joints area. I have reported this to the dealership many times since purchasing the vehicle new. They continue to say that there is no issue but the noise is not going away. I believe it is associated with this TSB but no recall has been made. I am very concerned as the steering feels looser than usual and may cause an accident. TSB 10170655 - DESCRIPTION Some vehicles may exhibit one or more of the following noises from the front suspension: 1. A creaking noise from under the front of the vehicle (front lower arm bushing) when driving over bumps at approximate 12 - 25 mph (20 - 40 Km/h). The noise occurs when the road surface is wet or after the vehicle has been washed. The noise becomes more noticeable as the bumps get higher. The creaking noise is caused by the front lower arm bushing (A) making a stick-slip noise during wet road conditions. 2. A clunking noise from the front coil spring when driving over bumps. The clunking noise is due to stick- slip between the front strut bearing (B) and the coil spring (C). 3. A popping noise from the bump stopper (D) when driving through gutters.

How to use these: a complaint is one owner’s report, filed voluntarily and published unverified. Patterns matter more than any single story. If several owners describe the same failure at similar mileage, put that system at the top of your pre-purchase inspection list. Back to the full 2019 Mazda Cx-90 Phev verdict →
