What 207 owners told NHTSA about the 2015 Ford F-350 Super Crew

3 times in the past year my 2015 F-350 truck started to wobble and shake increasingly after a slight bump at approximately 55 MPH. Once it started, it continued to increase instability and control of the vehicle. I immediately slowed and pulled over carefully to a stop and got out to examine the vehicle. There wasn’t anything I could find externally that I hit that would cause the vehicle to react the way it did. I was able to continue driving without a repeat until several weeks later. This has happened 3 times in the past year.

I have had two incidents of the "death wobble" violent shaking of the from end. Thought a wheel was coming off. Pulled off the road and checked wheels. All seemed OK and I continued to drive home without incident. The first incident occurred in summer of 2021 and ford dealer said they installed a damper. Cost was $315. Now in April of 2022 I experienced another, more violent death wobble. I have another appointment with the dealer and I assume they will "band aid" again. I think Ford should recall and fix their problem before someone gets hurt. I pull a 10,000 5th wheeler and am very concerned about out safety at this point. Over 5 times my truck become uncontrollable at highway speeds; 60mph or greater. A seam, groove, joint or other minor imperfection in the road instigates a violent shaking from the front of the truck. The only recourse is to jam on the brakes, at which the shaking subsides and control returns at approximately below 40 mph. As this normally happens at highway speeds, the loss and control and spontaneous braking required takes adjacent drivers by surprise very nearly causes an accident. I have owned this truck since it was new and purchase from Tommy Vaughn Ford. I regularly have the vehicle serviced at Hellman Ford in Stafford, TX. I've returned to Helfman 3 times since October 2019 with this problem. Initially they replaced some components which did not help, secondly I was told I needed new tires and that was the cause which I did purchase the next day which seemed to remedy the issue for 10,000 miles, and the most recent visit after the latest incident I was told they could not recreate the shaking, could not find anything wrong and no action was taken. I have not driven the truck in the two months since the last incident and is available for inspection if needed. Episodes do not result in any sort of warning light on the dash.

1/4/2022 – TRAVELING TO SOUTHERN OHIO IN F-350. Engine light came on. Truck info screen showed Exhaust Fluid System Fault – indicating truck would lock to 50 mph within a certain number of miles, then possibly shut down. Finally got in touch with Ford dealership in Chillicothe and took truck there. They determined it was a DEF heater and pump causing the issue, and that it would be covered by Ford as an extended warranty issue. Ford decided our truck was not covered. On 1/11, Ford added a new campaign – 21M01, Reductant Heater and Sender Assembly, covering the cost of replacement of these items. We were told we needed to pay the repair and Ford would reimburse. To this date, we have not been reimbursed - in fact have pretty much been ignored. The sensor recalibration they did caused the particulate filter to fail. Ford has said they won't replace, even though service manager has said the filter failed because Ford had them recalibrate the sensor. We could have been stranded 140 miles from home because of this design fault that Ford knows about - but is not being forced to take care of. Our truck has less than 64000 miles on it and was purchased new by me in April 2014. Will you please strongly encourage Ford to stand by this defective equipment they have installed in their vehicles, as their 'customer satisfaction campaigns' do not adequately encourage them to fix these faulty issues. Volkswagen and Audi both stand by their defective equipment. Consumer wants assistance getting Ford to pay for repairs.

If I incur a bump while traveling 60 mph, the front end will violently shake and rattle. The only way to stop this condition is to come to a stop. The vehicle feels totally out of control when this occurs. It is also very dangerous coming to a stop on a highway or interstate.

A little over 2 years ago my truck started the death wobble. I didn't know at first what it was but after internet searches I quickly came across the so called "death wobble". I have taken it in to the dealer multiple times They have changed a few parts when taking it in, at my own expense, but never have fixed the problem. It is progressively getting worse and is very dangerous to drive. Not just for me but for the public as well. When the truck starts to do the death wobble there is not much you can do but hold on. Ford should be responsible for fixing the problem with there own.

Every time I hit any sort of bump on the road (I.e the the lip on a highway overpass approach, or any standard road lip or bump) I lose complete control of my truck, it violently shakes and I have to come to a complete stop to get rid of it, which is dangerous when in traffic, I’ve owned the truck for a year and a half and have never been able to fix the problem, the local ford dealership I purchased the truck from said it’s not a listed recall and they can do nothing about it, there is no diagnosable problem that anyone can figure out, I’ve been told these year trucks have this problem, I’ve lost control multiple time with myself and my girlfriend in the vehicle and barely recovered from having many major accidents and being a danger to others driving on the same road as me.

This vehicle was parked outside a hanger at McDill AFB, FL and caught fire. 1) Was the vehicle running at the time of the incident? The vehicle went to “Start” when the incident started. He stated he heard two loud pops when he attempted to start the vehicle. He saw smoke and went inside for help. 2) If the vehicle was not running, were the keys in the ignition? If so, what state (aux, etc.)? He removed the keys after he saw the smoke and went to get help. 3) What was the recent usage of the vehicle before the incident? Was it used that day? How long was the vehicle "parked" before the incident (whether used that day or nIt was a Monday morning. The vehicle had been sitting since Thursday. 4) Did any vehicle operator notice anything wrong or unusual about the vehicle prior to the incident? Nothing unusual was noted. 5) Any after-market equipment installed? There was an aftermarket UHF/VHF radio installed for aircraft communication. It had been installed since 2015.

Cp4 fuel pump failure, upon failure repair was $9300.00, ford obviously knows of the problem as their is a kit that can be purchased for this catastrophic failure{fuel line replacement, fuel injection replacement, both fuel pump replacement , drop and flush fuel tank.}

CP4 High pressure fuel injection pump blew up, causing the truck to need a 17,000$ fuel system at 93k miles. Thankfully I had warranty with Ford- however what happens when it’s over and it goes again? Pay 17,000$ out of pocket? Ford needs to recall this just like dodge / Cummins. 17,000$ out of pocket can be crippling to the average American.

Check engine light came on in my 2015 F 3 50 super duty crew cab truck. Upon inspection at the Ford dealership I was told the Reductant Heater And Sender Assembly Need to be replaced at a cost of $1100. This is happening within 60 days of heat sensor recall being done. When I look into this topic this repair has a recall on it for F2 50s through F5 50’s including various years up to 2015, but the F3 50 is only up to 2012.

Over the years I have owned this truck (purchased new) I have had several incidents where I have hit a bump on the road and the truck starts the infamous "Death Wobble". I have been lucky to date not to have caused an accident but since all these incidents happened at high speeds. When it occurs I have to brake or slow down, which could easily cause a major accident at speed. I am always on high alert if I am on a rough road or come to a bump in the freeway (overpasses). I have complained many times to my dealer, which they acknowledge happens on some Ford trucks then they proceed to tell me it can't be fixed and basically deal with it. They say they really do not have a fix for it. However, I believe Ford is being negligent in their responsibility to come up with a fix then issue a recall. These trucks are unsafe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Understand my last event is dated below but it has happened to me at least once a year and sometimes two or three times since 2016.

The contact owns a 2015 Ford F-350. The contact stated that while driving at 60 MPH, the vehicle experienced the "death wobble" after driving over a bump in the roadway. The contact stated that the steering wheel began to violently shake, and he lost control of the vehicle. Driving at highway speed going over a bridge and went over a expansion joint an out of no where the entire front end started to violently shake. I had to apply brakes which because it was shaking so bad the abs kicked in and started the wheels to skid. I was sure that the front wheels were coming off the truck. 1st incident happened in May 2020, traveling down a major highway at about 60 mph, hit a bump in the road and the truck went into what is known as the "death wobble" and I had absolutely no control of the steering. I had no control over the steering and had to come to a complete stop to get the truck under control. This time I was almost rear-ended by vehicles behind me. This is extremely troubling, scary, and a very serious safety issue. Luckily I was not towing anything when these two incidents happened. If this issue is not addressed and a recall made on these vehicles someone is going to be killed!

Multiple times: Front end violent shake pulling steering wheel from hands and loosing control at 70 mph. Slammed on brakes just before I hit the center concrete barrier on highway. Driving over a manhole cover on road at 30 mph sent front end again into a built shake causing loss of steering and into oncoming traffic till was able to brake and stop vehicle. Drive great till next bump in road. 11 diesel techs cannot figure out what is wrong! This truck is going to kill someone, what is wrong with it???? Replaced tie rods, track bars, ball joints, wheel bearing, steering dampener, shocks, multiple alignments, caster bolts, ... $4800... in parts and labor so far and continues the exact same death wobble trap!
