My vehicle is subject to the Hyundai Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) safety recall (NHTSA Campaign 26V316 / Hyundai Recall 302). The front camera software logic is overly sensitive, creating an imminent danger of unexpected, severe, and sudden automatic braking at high speeds. This manufacturing defect poses a catastrophic safety hazard to myself, my family, and other motorists on the highway. I consider the vehicle completely unroadworthy and unsafe to drive. Despite the severe risk to human life, Hyundai Motor Finance is refusing to allow a fee-waived early lease termination, attempting to financially penalize me for refusing to drive an inherently dangerous vehicle that they manufactured. I am filing this complaint to document the severe hazard of the defect and Hyundai's failure to provide a safe, penalty-free resolution for a life-threatening vehicle glitch

On June 30, 2026, at approximately 8:45 AM, I was driving my 2025 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid on the freeway with cruise control set at 74 mph. While driving, the vehicle displayed a message that cruise control had been disabled. As the vehicle began slowing down, I pressed the accelerator pedal, but the gas pedal did not respond. I had to carefully move over to the right as the vehicle continued slowing, then pull over to the side of the road. Fortunately, there was a safe place available for me to pull over. After stopping, I turned off the engine, waited approximately one minute, then restarted the vehicle. After restarting, the vehicle operated normally again. I contacted Hyundai. They stated there was no specific update for this exact issue, but they did advise that there was an update for the steering cluster. I have completed that update.

On XXX, in Wildwood Florida, our Hyundai Tuscan was traveling approximately 25-30 mph southbound on [XXX], when a truck stopped short directly in front of us. The driver hit the brakes to slow the vehicle down. However, the car immediately came to an abrupt stop thrusting the driver and passenger forward, so much so that the passenger hit her head on the windshield as her body was violently thrown against the dashboard. Fearing a concussion the passenger thought a visit to the local Wildwood ER was necessary. Additionally the ER deemed it necessary that the passenger go to a specialized Trauma Emergency Delartment in Ocala, Florida. Consequently the passenger incurred several bills totaling approximately $20,000. Due to the incident occurring with in a car, medical insurance denied payment. It should be noted that this same type of incident happened a second time as well. Please note, the local Hyundai dealership manager was notified of both occurrences, and he was unfazed and made no comment in regards to this complaint. Vehicle: 2025 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid | Purchase Date: 10/2025 | Mileage: ~2,800 | FAILURES: On 5/11/2026, the AEB warning light (FCA system) activated without cause while parked. On 5/13/2026, the left side instrument cluster went completely dark and was unresponsive. Multiple reboots failed to restore it. Infotainment (right side) rebooted; instrument cluster did not. Vehicle brought to Hyundai of Las Vegas on 5/15/2026. RECALL CONNECTION: This is consistent with Recall 26V047000 (Hyundai #293), issued 1/26/2026, for 2025 Tucson instrument panel failure violating FMVSS No. 101. My VIN is not in the database. I request VIN inclusion review as my experience is identical. The OTA/dealer software update was never applied prior to this failure. SAFETY RISK: Loss of instrument cluster eliminated ability to monitor speed, fuel, and warnings while driving. Unprompted AEB activation raises concern about FCA reliability — risks unexpected braking to cause potential crash or failure to engage. Consistent with FCA recall issued 5/16/2026 for my vehicle. DEALER: Hyundai of Las Vegas confirmed and repaired under warranty, described to me only as a hard reset. Diagnostic was not indicated on my report. Service advised me that recurrence is likely. Note: FCA recall issued 5/16/2026 was not addressed during this visit. Second appointment required. NHTSA: 26V047000 | Hyundai Recall: #293 | Case: 42767545

The contact owns a 2025 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle unintendedly stopped. The vehicle suddenly experienced an automatic emergency braking failure. The vehicle was stuck in gear and was jerking while moving forward. While in drive, there was an abnormal popping sound coming from the vehicle. The battery discharge message was displayed and after several minutes the vehicle resumed normal operation. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer previously, but the dealer was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The local dealer was contacted again, and the contact was informed about NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V316000 (Forward Collision Avoidance) and about a trade-in. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact called another local dealer Feldman Hyundai of New Hudson Service & Parts Center (30492 Lyon Center Dr, New Hudson, MI 48165); where an appointment was scheduled for a later date. The manufacturer was contacted and filed a claim. The failure mileage was approximately 100.

While vehicle was at dealership service department for an oil change, dealer performed FCA (Forward Camera Assist) Update recall. After leaving dealership, the vehicle displayed several warnings. "Check Emergency Stopping function", "Smart Cruise Control disabled", and "Forward Safety system limited". This never happened previously, and these safety systems became disabled within two miles after leaving the dealership where the update / recall to them was performed. The recall was intended to prevent unnecessary emergency braking. Somehow the update resulted in completely disabling that safety system. Invoice from dealership shows 17012 miles out, and photos of dashboard show 17014 miles. Return appointment for them to look at this is three weeks out. Contacted Hyundai customer service to report this.

I was going northbound on highway 77 in Bloomington, MN, switching lanes to get on an exit ramp to westbound 494. Another vehicle in front of me was also changing lanes but I had slowed down so we can switch lanes appropriately as we were both going at decent speeds and as I was braking and this car ahead of me crossed lanes, my forward collision warning activated and emergency braking occurred which inappropriately activated and caused me to abruptly stop while driving on an exit ramp on a freeway. Luckily the car behind me did not hit me but it was terrifying and scary and I had my two young children in the car. I have set up plans for updating the software for this vehicle with the current recall.

On 4/3/2026 heading to [XXX] on I 95 (outside of [XXX] ) traveling with traffic (3-4 lanes) I was in the middle lane going approx 74mph when on 5 separate but in close approximation (estimated within 20 mi) times, my car which was on cruise control, suddenly threw up warnings to pull over, shook my steering wheel, yanked my car toward the left lane (with traffic flowing the same way as I was) and suddenly decreased my speed to 64 mph before I could regain control! It was a beautiful, sunny day with no precipitation. Cars were swerving and beeping . My family was in the car. I stopped all cruise control and drove the remaining five hours to my destination scared out of my mind. I called local dealership, country club Chevy, dodge, jeep, Hyundai etc. at 607432-9300 and told Gavin what had occurred. I was unable to get into a dealership while I was in [XXX] for the brief time I was there. On my way home I tried cruise control on I 95 in the right hand lane all the way over so that no traffic could be on my right side. It was a beautiful day. It happened again to me, the warning lights, the decrease and speed the yank to the right the shaking steering wheel and the sudden breaking while I was in the state of [XXX] . I turned off cruise control again. I didn’t have a problem after that. When I I returned home, , I took the car in to be looked at at the dealership . They said they couldn’t find anything wrong. I contacted Hyundai motor corp at 800-523-4030. Case number 42576997 was assigned. I was put to Hyundai finance. No resolution. I contacted Hyundai Corp Office at 714-410-4382 and spoke with Mohammed. To date, as of May 7 there has been no resolution as the dealership doesn’t have access to drive this car on a 4 Lane Rd. as we live in a real area. I do not feel safe driving this car. It is going to kill someone else on the road or someone in my family. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The forward collision system suddenly slammed the brakes hard to a full stop. This has happened multiple times in situations where there was no real danger(still safe distance with the car in front). I was fully in control, and there were no obstacles or sudden movements from other vehicles. Both times there was a car right behind me, and I was just lucky they didn’t hit me because they swerved into the shoulder. After the first 2 times, I mentioned it to the dealership and asked if there was any way to turn down the sensitivity so it didn't cause an accident and he said it's either all or nothing (which also isn't safe in case of real emergency). He recommended I file a complaint. I should also mention that I owned the 2022 Hyundai Tucson prior to this car for 4 years and never once had this occur. I did have it activate the front collision warning, but it never came to a full stop and allowed the driver to make the correct decision for the situation.

The Forward Attention Monitor (or Driver Attention Monitor/Warning...or something similarly named) that monitors the driver's eyes to insure he/she is looking forward at all times) is overly sensitive and shuts off the adaptive cruise control and lane keeping systems. While it does this, there is a beeping, and a text display on the dash that requires reading, it is probably a sentence long, further distracting the driver from looking at the road....This potentially would cause a following vehicle, or a vehicle in an adjacent lane to make a defensive maneuver, or to have to brake abruptly, as one example...basically NOT SAFE) Adjusting the steering column to a safe driving position for me (the eye sensor is located on top of the steering column) also caused this system to turn off the cruise control and lane keeping systems constantly, causing me to have to raise it to an uncomfortable driving position. Also, related to this, the HVAC controls have very dim indicator lights to let the the driver know the fan speed or status of the A/C, making it very hard for the driver to see it and make quick changes before the STUPID eye sensor (Forward Attention Monitor or Driver Attention Monitor) cuts off the other safety features. I wear NON polarized sunglasses to be able drive safely in the very bright Arizona sun, and to see the HUD which is impossible to read if wearing polarized sunglasses. I have worn sunglasses while driving for over 50 years. This 2025 Hyundai Tucson Limited Hybrid is the first car that has this very overly sensitive driver attention warning system and IF it is not adjusted quickly will cause me to sell this otherwise excellent vehicle at a great financial loss. My hope is that it can be adjusted with a software update or physical parts update, before this causes an very unfortunate vehicle accident. It makes driving this vehicle extremely unsafe. I have asked the dealer more than once about this and they say there is no current fix. thank yo

Cannot use any driver assistance features while wearing sunglasses (even the lightest lens). I have macular degenation and this affects my future vision. I either can't wear sunglasses (which my eye doctor says are a MUST) or cannot use cruise control or driver assistance features with them. This was not disclosed prior to car purchase and Hyundai claims it is to guard against drivers falling asleep. Unlikely in daylight and if cruise control and distance WAS being used and someone fell asleep it would slow the car down rather than crashing into something full speed. This flaw DOES affect my safety and that have eye issues. Everyone should wear sunglasses during the day to protect their eyes. Please have Hyundai rectify this!

My 2025 Tucson hybrid violently stopped in mid traffic while leaving the intersection once the signal turned green to proceed. I accelerated getting to speed limit then it abruptly stopped, violently throwing contents from back seat to the forward cabin. Both, myself the driver and my passenger were jolted violently. The school bus behind me had to stop quickly as we were just getting up to speed from a stop light. The vehicle is brand new, 2024 miles on it. Tucson Nline Hybrid with all the safety features turned on. I called the dealer and service rep which both instructed to turn off the FCS Forward Collision System setting. I did but this shouldn't be happening and will cause bodily harm/damage, and possible death is a specific situation. This abrupt stop was jarring to both people in the car.

I have had two incidents with this vehicle (that I have owned for less than 90 days) that have raised safety concerns. Both involved the loss of all information on the "instrument panel" AKA dashboard. In the first (August 18, 2025), all of the warning lights came on, then the screen went dark - there was no information on the two screens and no head's up display. This happened while I was on the highway doing about 65 mph. After I was able to pull over safely, it took several attempts to get the vehicle started again and in gear. I took it to the dealer the next day and they were unable to replicate the issue and saw no codes. The second episode occurred yesterday (9/6/25). This time the screen went dark except for a large red warning "NO SIGNAL". The screen came back after a few moments; I am taking it to the dealer tomorrow. Both of these involved losing all information as to the speed of the vehicle - which I believe is a safety issue. Both of these issues have also been reported by others on Facebook ("Hyundai Owners") since late last year and it appears to be some sort of electrical issue but there has been no TSB or recall by Hyundai yet.

The computerized "Safety" features on this car can not be turned off. They pose a hazard in a number of ways from when the car is stopped to driving on multi-lane highways. For instance, the adaptive cruise control is linked to an over the air network. If that link is "cut" by going through the mountains, cruise control suddenly quits; this has happened while passing a vehicle over a mountain pass. When attempting to pull out from a parking spot, another driver stopped to wait for me because they wanted my parking spot. My car stopped by itself, sounded a loud noise, steering wheel shook, my wife screamed at the noise, and I had to shift out of reverse and shift back into it and attempt to leave the parking spot. When driving in the mountains on curvy mountain roads, my eyes shift around a great deal to keep on top of the road and traffic conditions. This sets off the "its time to take a coffee break" announcement with accompanying dinging. This continues every few minutes until I am out of the mountains - it is distracting at the least. If the adaptive cruise has slowed the car down because of slower traffic ahead, and after a car passes in the outer lane, you pull into that lane to pass the slower car; but when you do, my car accelerates quickly to bring the speed up to the speed set on the cruise control. If the car that just passed is too close, this acceleration sends us hurling toward the other car. I would like the ability to turn these "safety" features OFF. But that is NOT POSSIBLE with the 2025 model - while it was in earlier models. Though I recently purchased this car, I am investigating other cars to replace it almost immediately because I want to be able to drive without these "safety" features making poor decisions and putting my life in danger.

On long road trip from TX to MA Started before dawn and route initially [XXX] . With sunrise route was into sun and so I used my sun glasses. Within a few minutes a warning gong and light on instrument panel litup. I did not know what the cause was and then unannounced the Adaptive cruise control lane holding and steering shut off and the vehicle seemed to brake quite vigorously. There were a few cars behind me and due to my vehicle suddenly slowing down they had to brake unexpectedly. They then honked at me and passed quite aggressively and gesturing their displeasure with me. I called hyundai tech support they where of no help. I asked for a manager - who called back and I was told it is because I used my sun glasses! I was told it would always happen if sunglasses where used and I could not cancel this feature without disabiling the "safety" features that i considered when purchasing the vehicle on 24th [XXX]. I was told I should not use polarized glasses which my pair Is Not in any event. I requested to speak to a more senior rep and the next day received call from a hyundai rep who stated there was nothing I could to over come this nuisance feature and if I didnt like it I should not have bought the car. I stated I did not know this could or would happen ! In addition every 5 to 10 minutes a warning gong, light and speech notice keeps on popping up and states "I need a rest". In my opinion too, It is also a safety issue as it is a nuisance and consistant and at inopportune times blocking gps commands some times etc. These features, in my opnion, are too frequent too persistant and not helpful. There should be a way for the owner-drver too disable the announcements but have the benefit of the features ie Adaptive Cruise Lane and Steering etc without the car deciding not to allow because sunglasses are needed. That does not enhance safety in my opinion. In my opinion the way it is programmed it is a safety hazard Just suddenly slowing down INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

When driving slowly on the highway and changing lanes the car sensed that we were too close to the car in front of us and completely stopped the vehicle. We were not all that close to the car in front of us and we were nearly hit by the car behind us as we stopped. We are concerned that this could happen any time. My car stopped due to the emergency braking system when a car slowed down in front of me. There was no danger of me hitting them, we were in a turning lane proceeding slowly through a green light. My car stopped and wouldn't start moving again for more time than the person behind me would have expected. This isn't the first time, but it's my first time reporting it. I'm worried that I'm going to be hit by another car at some point.

This is a very real safety concern. On multiple occasions, the automatic emergency braking (Forward Collision Avoidance Assist) feature of my 2025 Tucson Hybrid was activated in a completely unnecessary situation, endangering myself and drivers following behind me. If a car in front of me brakes suddenly, or a car merges quickly into my lane, which happens ALL the time as everyone has experienced, my car takes it upon itself to fully SLAM on the brakes without warning. Each time, it was in a situation where I could have easily slowed the car down incrementally so as to not put drivers behind me at risk of rear-ending my car. This feature can be temporarily disabled in settings, but it AUTOMATICALLY reactivates when the car is turned off then back on. This is a crash waiting to happen and it is unsafe to drive in its current state unless the feature is turned off manually every single time I start up my car. At the very least, there must be a PERMANENT way to turn of FCA.

I have raised issues with Hyundai with the first week of driving this Tucson Hybrid. I have ask repeatedly to get the collision control turned off, The dealership said they could not turn it off with permission form Hyundai. Hyundai so called customer service escalated it now several times and not a single call back. I was assigned a specialist named Lejo ,National Consumer Affairs, Hyundai Motor America 714-627-9707. Because he is no longer able to help he told me it was escalated and got yet to this day to hear back from anyone. This vehicle has tried to kill us several times and the dealership and Hyundai have been made aware of what it has done. Slamming on the breaks and warning collision, pulling you almost in the ditch because it was raining? This has happen several times. The same thing when a cars turns the corner and is leaving the main road and as i move to the passing lane the car said warning and actually pulled us back behind the car we were passing and then hit the brakes and almost rear ended to car we were trying to avoid. This system can be manually be turned off by me but comes on each time the vehicle is started again. I am only asking that Hyundai permanently shut it off for the duration of my lease. Because of the safety issues with this 2025 Tucson Hybrid I feel it necessary to inform the public and HHTSA. If Hyundai does not turn it off then they need to be prepared to buy back the lease, Hyundai is well aware of the problems as they have issued a TSB 25-GI-017H Apparently you only are to drive away from the sun ,avoid rain, fog and snow? I recently purchased this car and just took it on our first highway trip of about 1100 miles. I experienced Three Problems that are a safety concern. 1. "Need to take a Coffee Break Notification." This comes on frequently and is distracting. No need to have that come on. When driving in heavy traffic at speed, this is too distracting. There is no way to turn it off. 2. Camera focused on the driver. If I take a drink from my water bottle, looking around the water bottle to see the road, the camera can not see my face/eyes. It then shuts off my cruise control, makes a noise, scares my wife, and distracts me from driving. This has happened to me in heavy urban traffic going through cities on my last trip. 3. The cruise control is linked to communication from outside the car. When driving in the mountains, there are times when the signal is lost, the cruise control stops working, the car emits a noise signally a problem, my wife screams, I lose concentration on what is going on as the car decelerates quickly and the semi truck behind me comes very close to the rear of the car. Potential accident caused by this silly system. There is no way to disable "adaptive cruise control" and resort to a system that does not rely on outside communication. The car has about 3000 miles on the odometer and I am ready to trade it in/get rid of it. I am greatly disappointed.
