My 2024 Wrangler 4xe has 27,000 miles on it. On Friday, 7/10/2026 around 7:00 in the morning the check engine light came on. I immediately called the dealer to set up an appointment and they could not get me in until 7/15/2026. At about 9:30am that day when I was pulling a small trailer the battery light also came as I was driving on the interstate. As soon as I exited and slowed down, the car lost all power. It would not start or move. I was stranded on the exit ramp in the turn lane, with a trailer, unable to get to the shoulder. There was quite a bit of traffic around me. I was able to have it towed to the dealer. I had to safely get out of the vehicle and direct traffic around the vehicle. Today, 7/15/2026, the dealer ran the diagnostics and determined that the hybrid battery has failed and needs to be replaced. The car currently has 27,000 miles on it and this is now the second hybrid battery replacement and the third time the Jeep has stranded me and has required a tow to the dealer. It is unreliable and unsafe as it becomes immobile and loses power on the roadway.

While driving in Electric Mode this morning, my Jeep experienced a loss of motive power in traffic. When the power loss occurred, I pressed the accelerator, and nothing happened. Moments later, I got a warning telling me Electric Mode Unavailable. Then, a couple moments later again, the gasoline engine started and the vehicle surged ahead nearly causing a collision. Since the 68C Recall was performed the vehicle randomly and unexpectedly experiences this phenomenon. The vehicle was previously left at the dealer to repair this defect. No repair was made. The dealer stated that it drives normal but also stated that power loss is now forced by software after the 68C Recall Software Update and it is now normal to lose electrical motive power in order to keep the battery from getting hot. The danger is that this happens unexpectedly in the past, and happened unexpectedly again, causing traffic around me to take action. It is important to note that this phenomenon occurred today and generally occurs usually below 45-50% Hybrid Battery Charge.

On XXX at approximately 1000am, [XXX] was driving the Jeep on [XXX] at a speed of 72mph. The vehicle was in E-Save mode and had 16 miles of battery life remaining. [XXX] switched over to Electric mode and slowly began to lose speed. She put the accelerator all the way to the floor, but the gas motor did not activate. The Jeep dropped slowly down to 62mph where it leveled off. Shortly thereafter she exited the highway, so she was able to come off the accelerator. On XXX at approximately 1002am, [XXX] was on the exit ramp from [XXX] northbound to [XXX]. At the end of the ramp, she stopped and tried to make a left turn onto [XXX] northbound. The vehicle was still in Electric mode (plenty of battery life remaining). The Jeep crawled through the intersection, with the accelerator all the way to the floor. [XXX] feared that she would be struck by oncoming traffic. The gas motor did not activate until sometime after she cleared the intersection. At that point there was a message on the dashboard "Electric Mode Unavailable". The Jeep switched itself to Hybrid mode. For the next two miles the Jeep ran utilizing the gasoline engine. The Jeep traveled erratically. It would slightly speed up and then slightly slow down. It was unable to maintain a constant speed. After two miles [XXX] stopped at a red light. The gasoline motor shut off. When the light turned green, she was able to easily travel the next mile home utilizing battery power only. Vehicle: 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe (VIN: [XXX]) Complaint Description: My vehicle is currently under active NHTSA Recalls 25V-766 and 26V-363. Following the 25V-766 software flash designed to detect internal engine bearing failure, the vehicle has experienced a sudden, unrecoverable loss of propulsion (Limp Mode) on the highway at 60 mph on three to four separate occasions. This has nearly resulted in high-speed rear-end collisions, making the vehicle incredibly dangerous for my family. The vehicle is currently grounded at Criswell Jeep in Maryland. Despite the vehicle experiencing the exact catastrophic failure outlined in 25V-766, Stellantis corporate and the local dealership are refusing to authorize the mandated engine block replacement. The dealership claims their local technicians cannot physically replicate the failure and do not know how to extract the historical freeze-frame data from the vehicle's computer. Instead of dispatching a Stellantis Field Technical Specialist to pull the internal Uconnect logs—which Jeep Cares corporate admitted on a recorded line is the required next step if the local tech cannot duplicate the issue—the dealership has put over 150+ unnecessary test-drive miles on the vehicle and consumed half a tank of gas trying to blindly trigger the failure. Conducting 150 miles of highway test driving on a vehicle with a documented history of suddenly losing propulsion while it simultaneously has an active, unpatched fire risk (26V-363 "Park Outside" advisory) is a severe safety liability. Furthermore, Jeep Cares explicitly refused to reimburse me for the gas and mileage, stating this excessive driving is just part of their diagnosis and quality control. Following completion of the 68C Battery recall, my vehicle began experiencing unexpected and severe loss of electric propulsion while driving. These failures occur without warning, immediately reducing power and causing the vehicle to stall in active traffic. On multiple occasions, surrounding drivers were forced to take evasive action to avoid collision with my stalled Jeep. Incident Timeline 05/15/2026 The hybrid battery failed completely, causing the Jeep to stall in traffic. The vehicle was towed to the dealership, where the hybrid battery was replaced. 06/01/2026 The Jeep was returned to me after repairs. 06/02/2026 The Jeep again lost power and stalled in the middle of the road. After moving it to safety, it was towed back to the dealer. Additional components were replaced. 06/20/2026 The Jeep was returned to me once more. Post‑Repair Behavior (Ongoing) Since being returned, the Jeep continues to suffer sudden and major loss of electric propulsion while driving. Only after the power loss occurs does a warning appear stating “ELECTRIC MODE TEMPORARILY UNAVAILABLE.” This warning arrives too late to prevent hazardous situations, as the vehicle has already become a danger to surrounding traffic. Safety Concern The repeated and unpredictable propulsion failures create significant risk of collision, endanger both myself and other drivers, and indicate that the recall repair and subsequent service attempts have not resolved the underlying defect. On [XXX] at approximately [XXX] pm I was at the intersection of [XXX] and [XXX]. When the light turned green I attempted to make a left turn. The Jeep was in E-Save mode, but the gas engine was not on at the time. I stepped on the accelerator, but the vehicle moved very slowly through the turn, no matter how hard I pressed down on the accelerator (electric motor engaged at this time). I feared that I would get struck by other vehicles due to the very slow rate of speed. On 6-22-26 at approximately 1035 am, I was traveling southbound on Rte 140 in Taunton. I was in the left lane, traveling at a speed of approximately 55 mph. The Jeep was in Electric Mode. I attempted to accelerate so that I could get around a tanker truck. I pressed down on the accelerator, but my speed only went up to 56 mph before slowly starting to come down. I pressed harder on the accelerator, but my speed continued to drop. There was a vehicle traveling close behind me that was clearly getting aggravated by my slow speed (posted 65mph zone). I came off the accelerator and moved into the right lane. At this point the gas engine finally came on and gave me additional acceleration power.

Was traveling approximately 55 MPH down the highway for 15 min in electric mode. Moved to the shoulder and stopped quickly using regenerative braking for an oncoming emergency vehicle. I got back on the highway and I suddenly lost almost all pedal response and it would not accelerate. I kept pushing the accelerator pedal harder and harder. That's when the ICE kicked on and there was a sudden violent lurch forward and the engine was screaming at over 5000 RPM. There were cars approaching behind me and they had to suddenly stop and they honked horns and avoid hitting me. This sudden throttling of the battery/electric and very erratic switch over to ICE is dangerous.

- The all electric drive system intermittently fails. The vehicle drive shuts down and stops suddenly when decelerating to a stop in full electric mode while in drive. The vehicle "drive" light on the gear shift then starts flashing when the drive system shuts down. Vehicle motors lock up and the vehicle comes to an abrupt stop. The vehicle then has to be shifted into Park, and then back into Drive, in order for it to re-engage. The incidents happened at all different levels of SOC - from 98% charge to 1% charge. All happened at different times of day. Temperatures between 73-85 degrees. All in daylight with different sun/clouds. Yes it is available for inspection upon request. - Safety is an obvious issue when the vehicle comes to a compete and sudden stop in traffic unexpectedly. - Yes the problem has been reproduced and confirmed my an independent automotive engineer. I am an experienced professional automotive test driver/engineer for multiple OEM's. - Not as of this time. It is due for service on Thursday July 2nd for its 78C recall completion. At that time, I will have the dealership inspect it. - There were no warnings of any kind prior to each failure. I have only owned the vehicle for 14 days, and in that time, the issue has repeated 6 times. All when in full electric/battery mode, or, when in hybrid mode but the vehicle was operating solely on electric propulsion and the ICE was not on or engaged.

This is apparently an ongoing problem with all Jeep 4xe's that have passed the 68c recall. The vehicle will no longer operate in "Electric" mode in normal driving conditions, this is our second Wrangler 4xe and we have a total in excess of 50k miles of typical driving in "Electric" mode. The vehicle will no longer function safely in "Electric" mode as it did prior to the recall, it now fails to accelerate for minor hills and slows down to the point of causing following vehicles to come dangerously close to the rear of the vehicle. After a long delay with the pedal now to the floor and the vehicle slowing further as it's trying to go up an incline the ICE (gas engine) violently starts and lurches forward in an unnatural manner. The response by Stellantis is that this is "Normal" operation of the vehicle. I can 100% tell you this is not normal as neither of our 4xe's operated in this manner prior to the recall. I can only imagine what would happen if we attempted to merge into traffic or try to cross an intersection and this "Normal" operation happened.

While driving in EV mode my Wrangler 4XE starts to limit power when the battery falls below 50%. The dash display which shows power output clearly starts to limit around 75%, then 50% once the battery hits 40-45% and then even lower as the battery depletes. This makes the car barely powerful enough to hold 50mph and it cannot even climb a hill and hold speed. Then the engine abruptly kicks on in the high 30% battery SOC and EV mode is locked out until you charge it or park, turn it off and let it cool off. This is after the latest battery recall that Jeep performed. They seem to be limiting the battery output at lower SOC to protect the battery but this means I am no longer able to operate the car I purchased in the way it was designed to originally, the way it was marketed, or even safely on a main road with moderate speeds without the engine kicking on. It is also limiting overall power which means I'm not getting the advertised HP and Torque ratings. Jeep needs to do a real fix for the battery issue and not just a software band-aid.

This complaint is based on four separate safety recalls affecting my vehicle — Recalls 56C, 68C (NHTSA Campaign No. 25V-741), 21D (NHTSA Campaign No. 26V-363) and 78C (NHTSA Campaign No. 25V-766) — which collectively demonstrate a pattern of serious, unresolved manufacturing defects involving both the high-voltage battery system and the gasoline engine. Stellantis has materially and permanently diminished my vehicle's performance and value through undisclosed recall remedies, left my vehicle subject to dual fire risks with no complete remedy available as none of the recalls actually made any functional repairs but rather reduced the risk to Stellantis, and subjected my engine to a potential catastrophic sand contamination defect for which the recall did not actually repair along with additional wear and tear on the combustion engine beyond the original design specifications of the vehicle. Perhaps no single fact better illustrates the magnitude of what Stellantis has taken from me than this: post-68C, my 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe — purchased at a significant price premium over standard Wrangler models specifically for its hybrid efficiency — now achieves no better real-world fuel economy in charged or depleted mode than the base 3.6L V6 Wrangler that costs thousands of dollars less. The EPA-rated combined gas-only MPG figures for the 2024 Wrangler lineup are as follows: •3.6L V6 (automatic, four-door): EPA-rated 19 MPG combined (17 city / 23 highway); •3.6L V6 with eTorque (automatic, four-door): EPA-rated 19–20 MPG combined; •2.0L Turbo (four-door): EPA-rated 20–21 MPG combined; •4xe PHEV (charge-depleted, gas only): EPA-rated 20 MPG combined — now further reduced by the 68C software restriction. All of which came at an $8-12K premium due to the PHEV vs. a standard V6 engine.

While driving my 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe on the Garden State Parkway and approaching traffic on the Driscoll Bridge, a turtle warning icon suddenly appeared on the dashboard, indicating limited vehicle performance. Moments later, the dashboard displayed a message instructing me to "Shift to Park." Immediately after this warning, the vehicle suffered a complete hybrid/electrical system failure and lost all motive power. The vehicle became completely unresponsive, and I was unable to accelerate, move the vehicle, or restart it. The vehicle came to a stop in an active travel lane of the Garden State Parkway on the Driscoll Bridge, leaving me stranded in live highway traffic. This created an immediate and serious safety hazard, as vehicles were approaching from behind and I was exposed to the risk of a high-speed rear-end collision. The vehicle could not be moved under its own power and had to be removed from the travel lane and towed to a nearby parking lot. Roadside assistance later performed a battery reset, which temporarily restored vehicle operation and allowed me to drive the vehicle home. No permanent repair was performed, and the cause of the failure remains unresolved. The vehicle currently has multiple open safety recalls, including Recall 68C involving the high-voltage battery system. Stellantis has also recently announced an additional recall involving electric hydraulic power steering pump wiring and fire risk. The primary defect is the sudden loss of propulsion and complete electrical/hybrid system shutdown while driving, resulting in the vehicle becoming disabled in active highway traffic without warning. This defect created an immediate risk of a serious crash and could have resulted in severe injury or death.

first incident rear defrost tab would come on and get so hot it was burning the rear glass. major fire risk burning the components, reported to dealer, dealer replaced glass and component, no warnings, owner reported "smelling something burning". fire fighter found burned glass and component which was then unplugged. 2nd- hub centric ring loose and causing noise rubbing inside of wheel. owner states dragging sound from left to right at low speeds and one incident of vehicle not able to turn to the right. dealer replaced new hub ring. no warning alerts, major safety concern in regular operation of vehicle while driving could cause catastrophic failure and/or death. 3rd and 4th reported to dealer Sep 29, 2025 that transmission does not want to shift and when accelerating it feels like it does not want to pull. dealer reported no problem found reported to dealer march 26th 2026 that when accelerating and letting off the gas the vehicle makes a grinding noise and will jerk and jump. Also when pressing gas an letting off it sounds like it tries shutting off. dealer kept vehicle for greater than 30 days. dealer replaced rear end due to bearing failure and metal contamination which led to axle seal and bearing replacement for also being contaminated, dealer had to drill holes to swap over relocation bracket to track bar to accommodate lift. major drive train failure safety defect possibly leading to a catastrophic failure and/or death. no warning alerts 5th vehicle was returned with in the same week for major oil leak on back tires still at dealer ship waiting repairs. no warning alerts

On April 17th 2024 my vehicle received a recall update 68C regarding the plug-in hybrid electric vehicle battery. Two days later, I was driving on a major freeway in Southern California, noticed that the EV battery was not being depleted as it remained at 100%. Shortly thereafter, a check engine light came on, and the power was severely restricted. Within a few minutes, the vehicle completely lost power in the middle of the freeway and I was able to get over to the right shoulder. At this point, the vehicle had no power and I could not turn the vehicle off either regarding the electronics. I had the vehicle towed to the dealership in San Diego, and by the time it was at the dealership, the vehicle was in full lockout mode and had zero battery power left and could not even lock the doors. This caused a significant safety hazard as I was with my [XXX] child and the vehicle just completely lost power on the freeway. The vehicle is now at the dealership and they are giving me a very hard time saying that there is nothing wrong with it, but I have read that there have been many problems with this recall update. The dealership told me that the problem was a bad 12 V battery and that I needed to pay to replace that and I argued with them that that was not the problem and they are not addressing the major issue with a complete power loss on the freeway after a required software update that has known problems. My Jeep Wrangler 4xe now has controlled/limited electric propulsion while driving in electric only mode after 68c recall was performed. With no warning while driving in electric only mode, my vehicle will not accelerate without accelerator press almost to the floor to activate the internal gas engine. This behavior on a cold run starts out fine, but as the vehicle(electrical system) warms, the limitations come on strong can catch the driver completely off guard if needing to accelerate quickly to merge into traffic or enter freeway on ramps. This erratic behavior is both dangerous to the driver along with other drivers on the road. My dealer has driven the vehicle on a short(in town) test drive and concluded the vehicle drives as intended by the manufacture. No warning are lamps visible, and as outside temps rise, this issue seems to be more apparent. This electrical behavior started the day I received my vehicle from the dealer after 68c recall was performed. The software that is now installed on these 4xe vehicles seem to be limiting/cutting the electrical output of the onboard high voltage battery to limit or eliminate heat stress on the internal battery known to catch fire and burn under heavy load. This creates a safety hazard to owners who drive these vehicles that basically stall out(no acceleration/dead pedal) without warning given to the operator prior to the software limiting the battery output to the vehicle drive train at will. When this occurs the electrical boost gauge on the 4xe dash will not rise above 25% no matter how far down you push the accelerator pedal, where normally(when not limited by software) the gauge can reach 100% during the electrical acceleration process.

A recall for the possibility that sand may have entered the engine during casting has been in place since November 2025. To date, Stellantis has not provided a remedy that, in my opinion, should require a complete engine replacement. I am required to travel extensively, often hundreds of miles at a time, for work, and this is my only vehicle. I am frequently on freeways with a speed limit of 65-70 mph. Knowing there is a chance my vehicle could suddenly suffer a catastrophic engine failure and fire at these speeds is absolutely terrifying, not only for me and any injuries that I might suffer, but also for the drivers sharing the road with me.

On December 10, 2025, at approximately 7:30 PM, I experienced a complete and sudden power loss while driving home. Without any warning, my vehicle shut down entirely in the middle of the road. I was unable to move the vehicle to safety, shift it into park or neutral, or regain any control of the vehicle. This left me stranded in an extremely dangerous situation, exposed to oncoming traffic and at significant personal risk. Due to the total failure of the vehicle, I was forced to have it towed to a Jeep dealership. A vehicle of this age and condition should not experience a catastrophic failure of this nature—especially one that creates such a severe safety hazard. This incident has caused serious concern regarding the reliability and safety of my vehicle. A complete loss of power while driving is unacceptable and could have resulted in a far more serious outcome. I am requesting a full investigation into this failure, a clear explanation of the cause, and immediate corrective action. Additionally, I expect Jeep to address the safety implications of this issue and provide assurance that this will not happen again. Please treat this matter with urgency. I expect prompt communication and a resolution.

I own a 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe that I purchased in September of 2024 from Charlie's Jeep in Augusta as a used car with just under 5,000 miles. Now it has about 11,888 miles and has been un-driveable since December 1 due to unresolved safety recalls. The car is a certified used Jeep and is under warranty and has two current major safety recalls, one of which does not have a solution and a fix. The first recall is for a faulty hybrid battery that can catch on fire, and the second recall is for residual sand left in the engine, which can cause a sudden loss of propulsion and/or fire. This sand can migrate to other parts of the car, so an engine replacement would not be a complete fix. Currently, the car has a "Do Not Drive" recommendation from Jeep and as a result, it has been sitting at the dealer since December 1, 2025. Because of the recalls, the value and safety of the car is very much depreciated. I have tried to work with Jeep and the dealer on a reasonable solution to no avail.

I am submitting this complaint regarding a new safety incident involving my 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe after completion of the repair associated with Recall 68C. The Recall 68C repair was completed on January 28, 2026. After that repair, the vehicle experienced new and serious operating failures. The vehicle repeatedly tripped my home charging circuit during charging attempts. In addition, the vehicle's electric mode malfunctioned despite the battery showing charge. The vehicle then experienced loss of propulsion and stalled while driving, creating a serious safety risk. Because of this incident, the vehicle was towed through Jeep Roadside Assistance and is now at Schumacher Jeep in [XXX] for diagnosis. The vehicle is currently not safely operable. Recall 78C also remains open with no available remedy. This complaint is being submitted as a new safety incident following completion of the Recall 68C repair, and it should be reviewed together with my prior ODI complaints, including ODI XXXand ODI XXX. The hybrid system in my 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe repeatedly fails, causing the vehicle to lose propulsion, drop out of electric mode, hesitate, and shut off while driving. These failures have occurred in traffic and at highway speeds. The vehicle has experienced multiple safety‑related power‑loss events, including on JR Allen Parkway and I‑185, where the hybrid system failed to transition between electric and gas modes and the vehicle began losing power. Beginning in April 2025, the vehicle generated repeated Jeep Connect alerts stating “Electric charging failed for your vehicle.” These alerts occurred dozens of times over many months, indicating an early hybrid‑system malfunction. The issue is not related to home charging equipment, as the alerts come from the vehicle’s telematics system and the hybrid system later failed while driving. On February 5, 2026, the dealership’s Service Director informed us that the defect was identified, no fix exists, and the vehicle is unsafe to drive. FCA has not provided a remedy. The vehicle cannot be safely operated in electric mode due to hybrid‑system failure, and it cannot be safely operated in gas mode due to engine‑related safety concerns. The vehicle is unsafe in all modes of operation. This defect creates a serious risk of collision due to sudden loss of propulsion, inability to accelerate, and unexpected shutdowns while driving.
