Vehicle drivers front door is very hard to operate, very hard to shut, window wont roll all the way down. Vehicle makes popping noise when operating drivers front door. Door wont close all the way at times due to door check binding inside of door. Ford has had a customer satisfaction service repair for Escape model vehicles with similar problems. Ford reference for this action is 23B56. Due to the door not being able to close properly this vehicle will require repair and the vehicle taken out of service because it is not safe to drive with the door not latching properly. The spot welds are broken away from the door causing the door check and mounting bracket to be pushed into the door when closing, this causes the door to not be properly latched.

My driver side door hinge has a broken spot weld and has come unattached from the door and it goes inside and blocks the power window from coming down when the door is closed. Ford has had these breaking hinge problems since 2019. I took it to the Ford dealership for them to look at the problem and they want me to pay for it. I have attached pictures. As of October 2023, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is investigating a potential defect in the front door weld of the 2020 and 2021 Ford Escape and its hybrid variant. This defect could cause the door to open unexpectedly while the vehicle is moving, which is a significant safety risk. Some owners have reported a popping noise followed by the door opening, while others have reported their doors not opening at all after a creaking noise. Some owners have also reported being unable to close the vehicle after the door opens. If the issue requires a recall, it could affect up to 346,071 vehicles.

How to use these: a complaint is one owner’s report, filed voluntarily and published unverified. Patterns matter more than any single story. If several owners describe the same failure at similar mileage, put that system at the top of your pre-purchase inspection list. Back to the full 2023 Ford Maverick Later Release verdict →
