Trailer brakes on my ram worked great on my rv trailer. Just traded it in on this truck and no trailer brakes. Message comes up saying brake controller fault. It's hard to stop a 8000# trailer in a emergecncy stopping situation. Local dealer checked my truck and couldn't say for sure what the problem is. They thought it was the brake module but they where on back order and I would be number 61 to get one. Certain year and model as mine are on recall but mine is not. I did a lot of reserch and Ford defintely has a problem with trailer brake controllers.

"Trailer wiring fault" is the warning message on my information display on my Ford F-250 Super Duty Truck. The warning message appears when I have a trailer attached to my truck. When applying the brakes, the trailer brakes go on and off causing the truck to jerk wildly. The 5th wheel trailer has been in the shop 3 different times trying to find a problem with the trailer but have not found any braking problems since they pulled the trailer with another truck and had no braking issues. Ford dealers have seen the vehicle twice now and say they plugged in an instrument and do not see any problems. Ford had a recall for F-150 Trailer brake controller but not for the F-250 back in April of 2022. It seems to be a possible software problem. I have to pull a trailer but I am afraid it will cause an accident. Any suggestions on what to do next.

How to use these: a complaint is one owner’s report, filed voluntarily and published unverified. Patterns matter more than any single story. If several owners describe the same failure at similar mileage, put that system at the top of your pre-purchase inspection list. Back to the full 2022 Ford F-250 Tremor Crew Cab verdict →
