Florida Miss firing lights on
NHTSA ODI 11748685
My 2019 Honda Odyssey stalled at a red light, then had an extended crank/no-start. It later hesitated and almost stalled while driving around 40 mph, and stalled again when I got home. The dash showed Emissions System Problem along with VSA, EPS, Brake System, Brake Hold, Hill Start Assist, and Road Departure warnings. Please check open recalls, especially the fuel pump recall, scan all stored and pending codes, test battery and alternator, and check fuel pressure and fuel pressure leak-down.

Collision mitigation system problem, auto high beam problem , lane keep assist problem, adaptive cruise control problem, road departure mitigation problem. All of these lights came on at the same time then a transmission problem light came on. Was told by a mechanic that Honda has an issue with a lot of these because of where it sits directly in the sun. All of these problems seem to be connected.

The front camera failed and made all driver assist, automatic braking, lane departure and collision warnings to fail. The cost of a new camera and calibrations is $2000. This critical piece of safety should not fail so soon or be that expensive to replace.

Automatic sliding door on the driver's side has a rear latch that will not hold the door closed. Currently being fixed at dealer. There was a recall for this model and year for this problem, however my VIN number is not included in the recall

The incident is that the rear brakes keep wearing much faster than the front. New brake pads do not last after only less then 10,000 miles of driving. Dealership and mechanic expect that there is a caliber issue with the 2019 model that is causing the rear brakes to wear too fast. Manufacturer should remedy this issue.

Water entered rear panel causing tailgate control module to get wet and stop working. This caused my tailgate to have no power and unable to close due to the latch being stuck in a closed position. Door was open unable to latch closed while I had to drive the vehicle to a mechanic.
NHTSA ODI 11746891
The camera for collision, cruise control, lane assistance and etc stopped working. Over $2000 to replace and not covered under warranty

For the past 6 months the vehicle shows warnings regarding lane keeping assistance problems, cruise problems, braking problems,. The warning can show up in the middle of driving, or right at start. Sometimes they go away while driving.

Rear passenger suspension failed. Was driving car when I bumped a rut in the road causing failure. No prior warnings prior to incident. Took car to mechanic and the suspension was rusted and nearly snapped in half. Car has received regular maintenance and no issues with suspension had been observed prior.

The rear suspension coil spring on my vehicle fractured and failed. The failure was diagnosed and confirmed by a Honda dealership. The broken spring remains available for inspection upon request. The failure creates a significant safety concern because the vehicle's ride height, handling, and suspension performance are compromised. A broken coil spring can shift position, contact the tire, damage suspension components, and potentially affect vehicle control. The dealership advised that the spring requires replacement. The condition was confirmed by a Honda dealer during inspection. I was informed that replacement OEM springs are on national backorder and are currently unavailable. As a result, the vehicle cannot be repaired with the factory part in a reasonable timeframe. The vehicle has been inspected by a Honda dealership. No accident, collision, or unusual road hazard preceded the failure. Prior to diagnosis, I noticed abnormal suspension noises from the rear of the vehicle, including clunking/creaking sounds while driving over bumps at low speeds. No dashboard warning lights or warning messages were displayed because the suspension system is not monitored by a warning lamp. I am concerned that this may be a broader defect because other Honda Odyssey owners have reported similar rear spring failures, and the replacement parts are difficult to obtain. The combination of a safety-related suspension failure and lack of available replacement parts has left the vehicle unable to be repaired promptly.

Warnings Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keeping Assistance, Collision Warning Systems, Brake System showed up while driving the vehicle, upon further search it was found there is a common issue with Honda Odyssey's multipurpose camera, and the dealer is charging 2000$ to fix it. This is a common problem in all the Honda Odyssey. I request NHTSA to look further into this issue and perform a recall or a free of charge installation. The official Honda Odyssey Forum online has countless complaints on the same issue without resolution by Honda. Honda has acted in bad-faith towards their customers since this defect impacts the vehicle's advanced safety features for which buyers incur additional expenses, endangering the lives of passengers. Honda designed a system that requires continuous and substantial expenditures without resolution because it is an engineering problem, i.e., the placement of the radar behind the large, thick plastic H emblem obstructs the radar. I hereby ask that the NHTSA investigate this issue and order Honda to offer a solution in the form of a RECALL that permanent addresses the problem

My safety and families safety is exposed to gas smell leaking inside the vehicle when driving and do/did not have a way to escape the smell inside the vehicle. My children range from infant-teenage and for them to smell a toxic smell can impact their lives and safety

BELIEVE CAMERA SENSOR IN WINDSHIELD OR BEHIND HONDA EMBLEM CAUSING ISSUES WITH 2019 EX-L MODEL/ CAR WILL POP UP 8 DIFFERENT CODES ENDING WITH "TRANSMISSION SYSTEM PROBLEM" MAKING VEHICLE UNABLE TO OPERATE. IN ADDITION TO TRANSMISSION PROBLEM, IT ALSO TURNS OFF ALL SAFETY FEATURES IN VEHICLE. I HAVE HAD NUMEROUS PEOPLE COMPLAIN ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AS WELL. CAN WE PLEASE GET THIS RECALLED AND FIXED??

While operating the left power sliding door of my 2019 Honda Odyssey, the door came off its tracks during normal use. As the door disengaged, the rear-side glass shattered. The failure required replacement of the power sliding door drive motor, center roller, center roller rail assembly, and rear glass. Broken glass was scattered inside and outside the vehicle, and I sustained a small cut on my hand while cleaning up the shattered glass. The vehicle had approximately 78,000 miles. I believe a power sliding door should not come off its track during normal operation, and this created a safety hazard to due the shattered glass and potential for occupant injury. After the door came off its track and the glass shattered, I was unable to close or secure the sliding door. The vehicle could not be safely operated with the door in that condition, creating an additional safety concern. I had to take the vehicle around the corner to the closest car repair shop for help with getting the door to shut- they couldn't get the door to shut without cutting the cord.

The DTC U300-49 suddenly failed which affects many of the security systems on the 2019 Honda Odyssey. Upon research, this is very common on the Honda Odyssey caused by it overheating which seems like it should be a dangerous part. It is such an expensive part that we as the consumer have to replace and it should be Honda replacing it if it is their fault that this part fails often. I haven't replaced it as we don't have the funds to replace it, so hopefully it won't pose a safety threat as there are 5 warnings showing on my screen daily.

The camera located behind the rearview mirror is faulty. In hot weather locations (like mine in Florida) it stops working. And that means all electronically assisted driving systems LKAS (like cruise control, auto high beam, lane departure, auto distance monitor/collision warning, etc.) malfunction, giving flashing messages about all non-working features. This is due to CMOS image sensor degradation caused by heat exposure. Many people have expressed concerns about this on different Honda forums online. I took it to a Honda dealer and after paying a fee for diagnosis, the service manager said that when the temperature outside gets hot, they get a lot of this kind of service request. They want over $2,300 to replace the camera. They were actually puzzled why Honda does not recall this item. Honda needs to address this since it is actually safety related and indeed a faulty item. There should be no reason for people to pay this outrageous price for something that is clearly a manufacturing problem.

Camera malfunctions with low mileage.

Fuel pump injector needs to be replaced at approximately 68,000 miles. Honda issued an extended warranty on fuel pump injectors for 2018-2019 models but refuses to cover replace it. Check engine light came on due to injector failure. This poses an extreme safety risk.

While waiting at a stoplight, the auto idle system engaged and turned off the vehicle's engine. When attempting to continue through the intersection, the vehicle failed to start again. The only way to restart the engine was to place the car in park and push the stop/start button again. This caused a safety issue because I was in the middle of traffic at an intersection, and was expected to move. Thankfully the vehicle restarted without requiring any further intervention, and as a result the vehicle was not inspected by police or insurance representatives. This exact problem was previously addressed by Honda under a recall. During that time, they performed the software update as necessary, however that obviously did not remedy the problem. After returning my vehicle to the dealer, Honda has verified that my vehicle did experience this event and now says that it will need a new starter at a significant cost to me. I am dismayed by the fact that Honda Technical Service Bulletin 23-009 addresses this exact problem, including a warranty extension for a starter replacement, and yet is not applicable to the Odyssey model. There was no warning or indication that this incident was going to occur, and until the starter can be replaced, the only advice given by Honda was to disable to auto idle system (which must be done each and every time the vehicle is turned off/on).

The contact owns a 2019 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that vehicle was serviced by dealer under NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V227000 (Air Bags): but dealer stated that the TCM failed to communicate, and the dealer was unable to update the module unless the contact paid out-of-pocket to service the TCM. The contact stated the manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced failure.

The vehicle engine developed a rod knock at around 105,000 miles. Failing connecting rod bearing(s) has been diagnosed as the source of the sound by several different mechanics independently, including the Honda dealership, and engine replacement has been recommended. This first occurred while I was away for an extended period on military orders. My wife, not realizing what the sound was, continued driving on it for 1-2 weeks. Fortunately, no accident occurred, but at any moment the engine could have seized, causing serious bodily harm or death. Leading up to this issue, there had never been any check engine lights, low oil or low oil pressure warnings, or any such notifications that this issue was developing. Oil changes were performed regularly without any concerning oil quality findings. There is a known connecting rod/bearing safety recall involving my make, model, year of vehicle, but Honda is telling me the manufacturing date is not applicable. Despite my formal requests, Honda has been unwilling to acknowledge and help rectify the issue. I submit that the defect in manufacturing is more widespread than they are owning up to.

All ADAS functions stopped working on my 2019 Odyssey during a 6 hour drive to the beach with my family of four. It appears that the multipurpose camera has failed. Some reading online suggests that this is a known thermal defect, and Honda has yet to remedy the issue. Instead opting to let the consumer replace these units at $3k per.

The contact owns a 2019 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that while his wife was attempting to exit the vehicle, the passenger-side sliding door failed to open after several attempts. The contact referenced NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V795000 (Latches/Locks/Linkages); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The dealer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 75,000.

The front camera behind the rear view mirror comes up with code and the cruise control will not work and the lane departure system and the forward Collision system and adaptive cruise control. The front camera issue can only be repaired by replacing the camera between 800 and 1500 cost to purchase the camera plus a 5 to $700 Adas aiming at the dealership and I don't feel that that's correct being that almost every single Honda Odyssey I've touched in my repair shop from 2018 till current has this code coming up. Sometimes I can put a scan tool on the vehicle and clear out the code and do a dynamic aim and the vehicle will correct itself but it will come back relatively quickly and sometimes it's impossible and the camera needs to be changed before anything can be done and all of those systems are deactivated until the front forward facing camera has been replaced. I am a mechanic I service a lot of these Honda Odysseys I have a list of items that I find almost every single one has a problem with this particular vehicle I'm sending in about is my personal vehicle and it has had numerous issues that had nothing to do with the operators of the vehicle solely to do with quality of the vehicle front camera is one the sliding door cable housing collapsing too the rear shocks snapping apart at under 50,000 miles front strut mounts going bad at 60,000 miles. There's also an issue with the driver's seat belts fraying in my car in particular frayed in under 12,000 miles More troubling is that every customer I send to the dealer to get things repaired under warranty comes back weather repaired or not without a single item being recorded by the dealer invariably what ends up happening is the dealer will reset some parameter and make the message or error go away. They will then return the car without any documentation stating anything. Once the customer brings it back after warranty is up the dealer charges to replace a repair because the customer has no proof of prior complaint
