I own a 2019 Honda Odyssey equipped with Honda Sensing. The vehicle has repeatedly displayed multiple driver-assistance system failure warnings, including “Adaptive Cruise Control Problem,” “Lane Keeping Assist Problem,” “Collision Mitigation Braking System Problem,” “Road Departure Mitigation System Problem,” and “Auto High Beam Problem.” The warnings initially appeared intermittently and then began recurring. In some cases, the warnings appeared at startup and remained active while driving. When the warnings are present, multiple Honda Sensing safety features are disabled simultaneously. To address a possible low-voltage condition, I replaced the vehicle’s battery with a new battery. After replacement and normal driving, the warnings continued to occur. The issue therefore does not appear to be solely related to battery condition. I also observed clouding and dark spotting within the front Honda emblem that covers the forward radar sensor. The discoloration appears to be inside the emblem assembly rather than on the exterior surface. Because the radar sensor is located behind this emblem, I am concerned that deterioration of the emblem or radar assembly may be affecting the operation of critical safety systems. This failure impacts several safety-related functions, including adaptive cruise control, collision mitigation braking, lane keeping assistance, road departure mitigation, and automatic high beams. The loss of multiple advanced driver-assistance systems creates a potential safety risk because the vehicle’s collision avoidance and lane assistance features become unavailable without warning. I am submitting this complaint to document a recurring failure affecting multiple Honda Sensing safety systems on my 2019 Honda Odyssey. There are numerous YouTube and social media posts on the same failure for same vehicle. It seems to be an issue for 2019 year

I was driving on a highway and all of a sudden, I see three warnings appearing on my dashboard - "Emission System Problem", "Blind Spot Info System Problem", "Transmission System Problem". I continued driving but then my vehicle started behaving weird. It started shaking while driving. Luckily, I was close to my exit and l somehow managed to take the exit but I wasn't able to move forward when the road was uphill. I somehow managed to park next to a house and walked back home. It was a really scare drive from the time those errors showed up to when I parked. This all happened few minutes ago. Here below is a thread where I can see others having this problem. The vehicle is experiencing a dangerous hesitation during acceleration at low speeds, immediately followed by a sudden, violent forward lunging motion. When attempting to accelerate from a complete stop, or when rolling at low speeds (such as yielding at a roundabout, turning through an intersection, or merging into slow-moving traffic), the vehicle suffers from a distinct **lag or complete failure to accelerate** for several critical seconds. In an attempt to get the vehicle to move out of harm's way, the driver naturally applies more pressure to the gas pedal. The vehicle's transmission then randomly responds after a few seconds with a violent lunge forward, spinning the tires and causing the vehicle to surge unpredictably. This unpredictable behavior creates an immediate and severe safety risk to the occupants of my vehicle and others on the road: 1. Intersection Collisions: The sudden lag leaves the vehicle stranded in oncoming traffic during turns, while the subsequent lunge threatens to overshoot the intended lane. 2. Pedestrian Hazards: The sudden, uncontrollable lunging makes low-speed maneuvers in school zones, crosswalks, and parking lots incredibly hazardous. 3. Drivers behind behind me do not expect a vehicle to suddenly stop accelerating after it has begun to move forward. I have taken the vehicle to the dealership we're we were able to reproduce the issue and Honda would not offer a fix. I thought I was going to get my entire family killed the other day when I pulled out at a stop the van hesitated in the middle of the highway for a few seconds before lunging forward. This is an intermittent issueand the severity varies each time, but is commonly cited online.

The vehicle was in reverse and started to accelerate uncontrollably in reverse. The car came to a stop after hitting a wall and a car. The uncontrolled acceleration happened when we went about 1 foot onto grass while in reverse. The emissions light was going on and off from time to time. We believe it was inspected by a honda dealership at some point. The vehicle is involved with insurance at this point.

I am writing to open a formal complaint regarding a serious transmission defect in my 2019 Honda Odyssey (VIN: [XXX] ). My vehicle is currently exhibiting symptoms that directly match the 'Transmission Programming Defect' documented in ongoing litigation, specifically symptoms: while accelerating produce rough and delayed shifting; sudden jerking, sudden, harsh accelerations and decelerations; and a sudden loss of power. I am aware of Case No.XXX (XXX v. American Honda Motor Co.) and Case No. XXX (XXX v. American Honda Motor Co.), which allege that the 9-speed ZF 9HP transmission in my model year suffers from a design defect. These transmission failures create a significant safety hazard. Recently my van report code as transmission system problem the second time. We got mechanic checked and confirmed it is transmission issue. The first time when it happened, we drove the van on highway and suddenly it lose power and slow down by itself. there was no response even we applied gas. We went down highway and drove to a close-by repair shop. they replaced some part for us but it didn't resolve the issue. This time since the error comes, it won't speed up in lower speed except the speed goes beyond 40-50 miles plus. when we back the car, it responses slow or none. it comes with big noise also now. it definitely gets worst. The very common issue when you stop and start to move, it never responses from the beginning even we applied gas, even the passenger can feel the reluctance. it also happens when the van turns. we also had the experience when driving on the highway, it speeded automatically without driver applied the gas. It feels like someone pushing us behind. there was Transmission Control Unit recall for 2018-2019 Honda Odyssey (Touring/Elite). Honda actually knows the issue but they didn't reveal this to their customer. This brings life threatening concerns on the highway. I hope this complaint can save lives and family INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

On April 13, 2026, I brought my 2019 Honda Odyssey to a Honda dealership in Chicago, IL for a dealer-initiated recall service. The dealer contacted me and asked me to come in. Before the recall service, the vehicle had zero warning lights, zero error codes, and was operating completely normally. Immediately after the recall service was completed, the following warning lights appeared on the dashboard: Brake System warning, Hill Start Assist Problem, VSA (Vehicle Stability Assist) warning, and additional stability/steering system warnings. None of these warnings existed before the service. I returned to the dealership the same day. The service team cleared all error codes. However, within minutes of driving off the lot, all warning lights reappeared. This confirms the issue is persistent and not a one-time post-update self-check. I returned a second time. The service manager stated the warnings were not caused by the recall service and refused to investigate further. The dealer quoted 800 for diagnostic work. I also contacted American Honda by phone and was told they could not intervene. With the Brake System and VSA warnings active, the anti-lock braking system and vehicle stability control may not be functioning properly. This puts me and other drivers at risk, especially in emergency braking situations and on slippery roads. This pattern of multiple safety warnings appearing immediately after recall service on 2019 Honda Odysseys has been reported by other owners. The vehicle and its warning lights are available for inspection upon request.

I am reporting a safety issue involving my 2019 Honda Odyssey transmission. Since early ownership, the vehicle has had ongoing hesitation and delayed response when accelerating, especially during gear shifts. Over time, this condition has worsened and now includes intermittent loss of power when pressing the accelerator, followed by sudden jerking or lurching forward. The most serious incident occurred recently when the vehicle unexpectedly shifted into park while moving in a parking lot, creating a dangerous and unsafe condition. Additionally, there have been multiple instances where the vehicle hesitated in intersections, creating a risk of collision due to lack of response when attempting to accelerate. Honda dealership technicians have acknowledged that these vehicles are known to have rough or problematic shifting, indicating this may be a broader issue. The final issue has resulted in the vehicle being towed to the dealership for a full evaluation.

Five days after getting back our car from the Honda dealership where they “fixed” the two recalls all warning lights came on and not turn off. Steering, breaking, accelerating all are difficult. There were no issues prior to the dealership “fixing” the recalls. The car was just at our mechanic for brakes and they check our engine, fluids etc every time. There were no prior issues.

I am submitting this complaint to report a serious and recurring safety issue with my Honda Odyssey involving the camera system. Multiple warning messages and fault codes appeared on the dashboard simultaneously, including: -Collision Mitigation System Problem -Adaptive Cruise Control Problem -Lane Keep Assist Problem -Auto High Beam Problem These systems are all disabled. This failure occurred without warning and immediately compromised several critical driver-assistance and safety features. We have serviced at Honda dealerships and they said the only fix is a new $1500 camera (but the camera still works). Despite this, no recall has been issued. We have owned Honda vehicles for decades and never had these type of issues. A recall needs to be announced and owners allowed a fix at no charge. The transmission warning lights are also coming on intermittently and we paid to have Honda diagnose. The transmission is fine they said. Please help.

The impact on the car is we no longer have cruse control (basic feature) and every time we turn on the car we see many warning lights turn on. Some other feature that does not work is lane assist does not work. According to what shows up to on the dashboard there are problems for "road departure mitigation system Problem", "Auto high-beam problem", "Adaptive cruse control problem", "Lane keeping assist problem", "collision mitigation system problem", "break system", "left sliding door problem" A quick search on the web indicate this a common issue with Honda car (including Acura). [XXX] Another problem we're seeing is driver Side sliding door does not close correctly or open correctly. We have since stop using this door since it's very dangerous for our kids since while opening, it would not open all the way and close on the kids. similar issues [XXX] These two things are broken under 65000 miles and less than 6 years owning the car. today ( Dec 30, 2025) . my wife was driving my HONDA ODYSSEY on Highway 287 east NJ ( closed to livingston NJ ) . Here is the whole thing : The ODYSSEY suddenly stopped while my wife was downshifting. At that time, there was a car in front of our car at least 30 feet away. Once the car stopped almost completely. Some red warning letters were shown on the front dashboard. But since we all filled in in a big panic, no one saw what those words were. At that time, we felt the minivan vibrating. That is all we could recall since we were still trying to calm down. I am not sure it was still the same problem with the transmission we reported months ago. That is the whole store for today. And I also attached the last note I sent to you. Hi , To whom it might concern, To further the conversation, we had talked with the local Honda dealer, and they had test-driven it several times, but they insist there are no problems at all. They suggested that we replace the transmission fluid to improve the performance. We replaced it in the dealer store. But from the fall of this year, 2025. We feel the odyssey has the same problems again : 1. The vehicle struggles to accelerate quickly when the accelerator is pressed. 2. The vehicle accelerates, but there is a noticeable jerking sensation. 3. After pressing the accelerator, the engine RPM increases significantly (the engine noise also grows louder), but the car itself does not accelerate immediately. It takes several seconds before any noticeable increase in speed occurs. I checked online I noticed that in some cases, some odysseys stop on the highway and cause some injuries, which is terribly I also sent a note to Honda USA, and I got a reply, but it is useless. I do not know what I can do. I saw there was some recall (due to the transmission) on Othe dyssey touring model and elite models, but I wonder if there is any recall on my Odyssey EX-L model.

I am reporting a serious safety concern regarding my 2019 Honda Odyssey, which poses a risk to me and my family. The issue is intermittent, making it difficult for the dealership to replicate. The problem began when the Collision Mitigation System warning light flashed, indicating a system malfunction. This was followed by multiple warning lights appearing on the dashboard. At times, the entire dashboard and screen go blank, and all gauges shut off while I am driving on both city streets and highways-though the engine remains on. Additionally, I have experienced the following issues: The steering wheel stiffness when making turns, the vehicle hesitates to accelerate after being at a stop. In December 2023, I took the vehicle to a Honda Dealership, where they recommended replacing the front camera/sensor (behind the rear mirror) at a cost of over $1,500.00. I proceeded with the repair in December 2023. However, the same issues returned in January 2025. This defect poses a severe safety risk, especially when driving at higher speeds or in traffic. Since the dealership has been unable to diagnose the issue due to its sporadic nature, I am requesting an investigation into this matter to determine if other owners are experiencing similar safety risks. Thank you for your time and attention to this issue.

Vehicle has hesitation when resuming forward drive after sitting at a light or taking left hand turn. The hesitation causes the feeling of not moving at the amount of speed the car should when starting to regain driving motion, then suddenly slams into gear and proceeds forward with a too quick acceleration to adjust to the amount of pressure applied to gas, causing the driver to have to hit brakes before hitting car infront of them.

A number of warnings popped up: adaptive cruise control problem, lane keeping assist problem, collision mitigation system problem, road departure mitigation problem, and auto high beam problem. Only light that is on is my brake system light. I read a bit on some forums and it is likely to be the the front camera. Apparently the Multipurpose Camera Unit (MCU) fails often on these vehicles, causing these errors and the cruise control to stop working.

sorry, I should make the complaint earlier since I just know I can submit it here. I have a 2019 honda odyssey EX-L since 2019 but I only have 22K miles. Starting from 2023, the vin could not pick up speed when we pushed the oil paddle; the transmission got stuck and the van could not be speed up when it was needed in highway. We came across the dangerous situations for several times. We contacted the local honda dealer for several times. They insisted that there was not any problems but they suggested we change the transmission fluid with less then 19000 miles !!!. But even we changed the fluid , the van seemed better for 2 months. I contacted honda USA. But they did not pay any attentions!!!! In the end of Jan 2025, I was making a left turn while the van got stuck there ; I almost got hit by the coming car. It was very terrifying ! I do not know what I can do since I need to use the van to pick up my three kids for school everyday I am looking forward to hearing from you soon. At various times since we have owned our van, when the gas pedal is pushed, the car will not move for a few seconds. It will then go, but it’s not smooth. I can never recreate this issue, since it seems to happen randomly. I had it happen today, and it lasted longer than a couple of seconds. I was thankful I was just leaving my neighborhood and not trying to turn onto a busy street.

Since purchasing the vehicle, I've had several incidents where my safety and those inside my vehicle are compromised due to the loss of drive power and stalling of the vehicle while driving. I've complained to the dealer for which they continued to assure me that there was no problem detected during the safety inspections. Recently I received the recall notice to replace the fuel pump module which was causing the issues that I've experienced with my vehicle. I took my vehicle to the dealer on 11/11/24, where it was serviced to correct the recall issues. However, I continue to have the same problems of stalling and loss of drive power when driving the vehicle. There are no warning lamps or other issues detected by the dealer according to their safety inspection. My safety and the safety of my passengers, continues to be put at risk. While driving in the highway it is especially dangerous because when I'm changing lanes the vehicle will not accelerate putting me at a risk for a collision. When I am turning left into a street, I feel that it looses power and am stalled in the middle on the street risking yet again a collision. These incidents occur at least 90 percent of the time when driving.

The whole ADAS system went down and a brake system light came on. Van isn’t in warranty but isn’t old either. Just out of warranty. Lots of safety items disabled because of a faulty camera that’s too expensive to replace on our own, so now we operate a mini-van without all the extra safety items that ADAS gives you. Guess ADAS was never intended to improve safety if it only works for a couple of years.
