Transmission is slipping into neutral from a slow start and re-engaging with a hard bang to the point it feels like I’ve been rear ended from a vehicle behind me. It’s done it twice in two weeks and it seems to happen when I’m leaving from a stop or slowing down and then come back into the accelerator.

When I first start the truck up and reverse out of my driveway once I shift it to drive it hesitates and feels as the transmission slips from 1st to 2nd gear. Makes it a safety issue due to the truck launching forward once the acceleration kicks in and the revolutions are high once the truck starts its speed from the hesitation.

While driving down the highway at 70 MPH, the transmission slammed into gear and the engine died. A message appeared and said shift to neutral and press the ignition button. The check engine light also appeared. This had been a problem that first appeared at 48,000 miles. I was told that GM recognizes that there is an issue with the transmission, but that it would not damage the vehicle so it is not able to be repaired under warranty. The dealership advised that I should change the transmission fluid, so I did. The transmission continued to slam into gear thereafter. Fast forward to 55,000 miles where the truck completely died. The engine would not start and the truck had to be towed to a dealership. The next day the dealership told me that they had figured out the issue and that it was related to the fuse box and the ignition. I picked up my truck the next day, and drove less than a mile before the engine died again. I sat at the dealership for 12 hours and they had another answer for what was happening. They said that the shift lever was damaged and it was not allowing the battery to recharge. I live 400 miles away from where the truck broke down. I had to rent a vehicle to return home with my family from a trip. I now have to drive back to my truck in another state, and pay for the 12 plus hours of diagnostic work at $140 an hour as well as the cost of the part and the time to install it because the dealership stated that this is not covered by any warranty. I see that several people are dealing with a similar issue and I am frustrated that no one is willing to help us right this wrong. My grandfather worked for GM his entire adult life, and I will never own another one.

The vehicle jerks when I put it in reverse or drive. And when I'm going down the road while it shifts gears. It's be doing it since I purchased it (new). It was light at first but lately its been worse. I took it to the dealership a couple of months ago & they replaced something small & said it was fixed. But it still bad. My truck still only has 30K miles.

The contact owns a 2019 GMC Sierra 15000. The contact stated while driving approximately 5 MPH as the vehicle was placed into "drive" the transmission, would hesitate and would not shift into gear. The contact stated that when the "drive" engaged, the shift was very hard and shook the vehicle, which then lunged forward. The contact stated that the "check engine" warning light was illuminated. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that there was no transmission failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the transmission failure is recurring. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 7,000.

when I bought the vehicle in October2018, I have taken the vehicle back to the dealership multiple occasions and they refuse to fix this issue. The transmission shifts from first to second gear or second to first gear is clunky, jerks forward and shifts without warning. While sitting at a stoplight, the vehicle will sometimes lurch forward several inches without warning even with your foot on the brake. Furthermore when accelerating between first and second year it's sluggish and takes several seconds to shift from first to second the engine Revs high.

Hard shift on take off from 1st to 2nd gear and while driving around random hard erratic shifting. Feels like pickup is getting rear ended. Have take in to Gregg Lair in Amarillo TX and they have reset shift points to no avail. I talked to head service writer and he stated that GM had a problem with their transmission but did not have a remedy for them. He advised to drive for about 3,000 miles and we have and still have the issue. We have been back multiple times and Gregg Lair states that it is still in learn mode after over 10,00 miles. I am a mechanic by trade and in my opinion there is a design flaw with the transmission and/or they have the wrong transmission fluid for the design.

The 2019 GMC SIERRA I own shifts extremely hard from a stopped position or when changing from reverse to drive. The shift is so forceful, that it feels like I have been struck by another vehicle. The overall feeling is that the vehicle is not safe to drive and it is not a reliable mode of transportation. The delayed shift, vibration and jerk, makes this vehicle a hazard to drive, as the ability to predict the issue is impossible. There are no other warning lights, or messages prior to the error. Online forums show this to be a known issue.

Transmission jerks, slams, forces a feeling of being rear-ended, delayed acceleration with sudden engagement causing uncontrolled acceleration. I've had it looked at every time I've taken it into the dealership for regular maintenance. They haven't been able to reproduce it as it only happens once, first time after not driving it for a while. No warning lamps or messages ever appear.

The contact owns a 2019 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle loss motive power with the check engine warning light intermittently illuminated. The contact stated that on most occasions, he would be able to restart the vehicle and resume normal driving soon after failure. The contact had taken the vehicle to a dealer on 4 separate occasions and each time the contact was given a different diagnosis. Despite the several diagnoses, the failure persisted after each visit. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure and each time referred him back to the same dealer. The manufacturer offered no further assistance. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 5,000. The VIN was unavailable.

2019 GMC SIERRA WITH 56K MILES WHEN ACCELERATING TRANSMISSION SEEMS TO GET STUCK IN FIRST GEAR MAKES IDOL SOUNDS RPMS JUMP UP THEN HARD SHIFT INTO SECOND, MAKES THE TRUCK JERK WHEN IT HAPPENS, SINCE THE ISSUE STARTED IT HAPPENS EVERY TIME I DRIVE IT. I TOOK IT TO LOCAL GMC DEALERSHIP ON 2/9/21 MANAGER SAID 'YES IT'S A KNOWN ISSUE WITH GMC & THAT YEAR MODEL TRUCKS' 2 DAYS LATER CALLED TO SEE STATUS OF TRUCK MANGER SAID HIS TRANSMISSION GUY FOUND THE ISSUE AND FIXED IT SAID COMPUTER AND TRANSMISSION NOT TALKING TO EACH OTHER DID A 'TRANSMISSION RELEARN' WAS COVERED UNDER POWER TRAIN WARRANTY. I HAD THE TRUCK BACK LESS THAN 24 HOURS AND NOW BACK TO HAVING THE SAME ISSUES AGAIN! CLEARLY IT'S NOT FIXED AND CONCERNING THIS IS GOING TO BE A SAFETY ISSUE WHILE DRIVING! GMC 'KNOWN' ISSUE THEN ISSUE A RECALL AND FIX IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME!

WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE 21OCT2020 IT STARTED WHINING AND JERKING. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT CHECKED THEY COULDN'T SEE US, SO WE TOOK IT TO A DIFFERENT GMC DEALERSHIP THAT SAID THE CODES HAD NOT BEEN UPDATED, THEY PREFORMED THE RECALL AND SAID IT SHOULD BE FINE. TWO DAYS LATER IT STARTED JERKING AGAIN AND SHUT OFF WHEN STOPPED AT A LIGHT. I TOOK IT TO THE GMC DEALERSHIP WE BOUGHT IT FROM ON THE 28OCT2020 AND I WAS TOLD THAT THE TRUCK WAS FINE, AND THAT THE DIAGNOSTICS SHOWED NO PROBLEMS WHATSOEVER. THE TECH SAID HE WOULD DRIVE IT OUT OF THE BAY, IF BRITTANY WOULD OPEN THE DOOR AND BEFORE HE COULD DRIVE IT THROUGH THE GARAGE BAY AREA AND OUT THE GARAGE BAY DOOR THE TRUCK MADE A CRAZY LOUD NOISE, JERK TO A SUDDEN STOP AND THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT, AND THE TRUCK WOULD NOT RESTART AT ALL AND HAD TO BE TOWED OUT OF THE BAY DOOR. THE 2019 TRUCK HAS HAD 5 RECALLS FOR SAFETY ISSUES AND WITH 40,000 MILES THE TRANSMISSION WENT ALL THE WAY OUT AND THE TRUCK HAS BEEN SITTING THERE AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR OVER A MONTH WAITING ON THE NEW TRANSMISSION TO COME FROM GMC. I GO IN AND SEE THE TRANSMISSION RECALL ON SO MANY 8 SPEED TRANSMISSION WHICH THIS TRUCK HAS, AND NOW I FEEL LIKE I WAS SOLD A LEMON AND NO ONE SEEMS TO CARE. % RECALLS AND THE TRANSMISSION GOES OUT COMPLETELY AT 40,000 MILES. I AM SO UPSET ABOUT IT THAT I DO NOT EVEN WANT THE TRUCK ANYMORE. IT IS GOING TO RUIN MY RESALE VALUE AND THE LEMON LAW SHOULD APPLY ON A TRUCK ONE YEAR OLD. I HAVE FILED COMPLAINTS WITH THE DEALERSHIP, AND NOW ON THEIR FRONT DOOR IS A SIGN THAT SAYS THEY WILL NOT HONOR THE WARRANTY POLICIES ON ANY VEHICLE THEY SOLD AFTER NOVEMBER 15, 2020. OF COURSE THEY SOLD ME ZURICH EXTENDED WARRANTY TOO, AND I CAN PROMISE I WILL NEVER BUY GMC AGAIN. I ALSO HAVE A 2017 PATHFINDER ALMOST PAID OFF, THAT I AM GIVING TO MY DAUGHTER, AND I WAS GOING TO GET AN GMC ARCADIA BUT NOT A CHANCE NOW.
