2017 Honda Civic the AC stopped cooling in the middle of summer in summer California where the temperature is regularly above 110 degrees. An AC failure in this area IS a safety issue. After paying $289 for diagnosis they said the evaporator is leaking. The warranty was extended for all 2017 Honda Civics for leaks of the condenser. They also have similar complaints for the compressors. We have 3 other older Hondas that have never had an evaporator start leaking and when we said that to the service tech, he said that newer Hondas are less reliable. This is at a Honda dealership, so it's quite the sales pitch for buying a new Honda. It seems obvious that the 2017 Honda Civic has an overall problem with the AC. I was quoted $1800 for repair, but I am not convinced that is the problem. I wish I hadn't taken it to a dealership to start with, but I was sure that they would be honest and cover the repair under warranty. A new aftermarket evaporator from a very reputable company costs under $70 so that's a lot of labor costs added on. Civicx.com has so many reports of this problem that it's over 12 pages long. This problem should definitely be covered under the 10 year extended warranty.

Air-Conditioner (A/C, AC). 2017 Civic EX-L Sedan. A/C system blows only warm air on drivers side vents, but seems to blow cool(er) from passenger side vents. Just adding this to the MANY other complaints about A/C system in 10th Gen Honda Civics.

I got a new Honda Civic last 2017. My car air conditioning has not been working for the past months. When I started have it fix, I called different car repair shop in Orange County for the past months. They always asked me about my car model and year and every time I give it to them they turned me down from shop like Firestone, pepboys, and several of their branch and even small repair shop. I went to Honda service but they charge me too much I can’t afford. Luckily my car was accepted for AC repair in one of Pepboys branch. They assessed and recharge my car AC but less than a month AC is not working I brought it back after they say a lot of problem and charging me too much. I just need a working AC for my car. Please help me have my car fix fairly in this difficult time.

Last week the AC in my '17 Honda Civic Hatchback went out and I took it to the local dealership to have it diagnosed. Upon review, they informed me the AC's evaporator unit is leaking and it will cost $800 to replace. I'm aware there is a recall (TSB 19-091) on the condenser from 2016-2018 Civics. Honda came out with a TSB regarding this issue, all 2016-2018 civics have 10yr/unlimited mile warranties now on condensers. TSB 19-091, dated Dec 11th 2019. Per the bulletin: " American Honda is extending the warranty on the A/C condenser to 10 years from the original date of purchase with unlimited miles. This warranty only covers vehicles that have a defective A/C condenser from the factory. The A/C condenser was not manufactured to specification. As a result, tiny holes may develop in the condenser tube walls that allows the refrigerant to leak out. " However, there seems to be an EQUALLY large number of complaints online about compressors and evaporators failing in those years of Civic as well. Every single private mechanic I spoke to said they's seen dozens of '17 Civics with the exact same issue and to take it back to Honda. As such, it turns out failure across ALL the components of the AC system (compressors/condensers/evaporators) is relatively common after only a handful of years. I believe an amended bulletin should be provided to cover ALL repairs across the AC system. As a 1st responder, it is not safe for me to drive this vehicle to/from work in the 115 degree weather that we get here in Fresno, CA. There are multiple articles explaining these exact malfunctions as well: https://www.civicx.com/forum/threads/2016-2019-evaporator-failures-leaks.52319/ https://www.reddit.com/r/Honda/comments/lyne6q/2017_honda_civic_ac_evaporator_leaking/?utm_source=BD&utm_medium=Search&utm_name=Bing&utm_content=PSR1 There were NO warnings prior to my AC going out.

I have oil dilution in my 2015 Honda Civic EX-T VIN [XXX]. Dealer performed the fixes. The Next time I had the oil sample checked it was worse. The oil smells like a weedeater. I am at 13.72% fuel in the oil. Very Rich. I live in Alabama where it is hot. I only drive long distances to and from work on the interstate. I need help. Honda is doing nothing. They are not telling the dealer anything or sharing any specs as acceptable percentage fuel in the oil. It is a coverup. TSBs have been done and engine checked and injectors are good. Please advise. I believe the issue I'm about to explain is with the EPS Rack Assembly. I am deeply concerned for my safety and the safety of other riding in my vehicle as it is difficult sometimes to keep the vehicle on the road due to the steering sticking at random times. MANY other 2016+ Honda Civic owners are experiencing this problem as there are several forums currently viewed on the internet discussing this issue. When driving the vehicle, the steering wheel "sticks" in one spot when turning and sometimes takes a considerable force to break the steering wheel free. This issue seems to happen after the car/engine is warm (20-30 minutes into driving). This problem started out as minor and sporadic, but has become much worse in the past month or so. I will be making an appointment with my local Honda dealer for evaluation.

10.55% fuel was found in the oil according to a sample that was taken. Took to dealer and called honda. Dealer was told to perform Bulletin 18-137 I think. Dealer said was done and changed the oil also. Took a sample at 30% oil life after the fix and now there is 13.72% fuel in the oil. Took back to dealer they called Honda Engineers and was told it was normal and that was on the Low side 13.72%. Was not able to do anything. This is a coverup. You can smell fuel in the oil and oil is high on the dipstick when you check it and you can smell when driving.

The steering on this car is very dangerous. After driving for 30 or 40 minutes the wheel sticks and must be brought back to center manually or car will leave the road or change lanes. This is hard to diagnose for technician. They all say there’s no problem because it’s intermittent. There is no warning lights. The faster you go the problem gets worse , very bad on the interstate highway.

I am reaching out regarding an issue in my 2017 Honda Civic EX-T. Over the past few months, I have noticed that the steering wheel seems to "stick" or feel "notchy" when making small adjustments from center (12 o clock) position. This is most noticeable when driving on a long, straight stretch of freeway requiring minor adjustments to keep the car centered. The steering will stick when attempting to making small corrections, requiring extra force to overcome resistance. After providing more force, the steering will suddenly give way, typically causing overcorrection in the opposite direction. As a result, I have to weave back and forth in my lane to keep the car straight. This issue is most pronounced when the ambient temperature is hot, and the car has been driven for at least 20-30 minutes. Interestingly, the issue will disappear if the weather is cooler or if the car is driven for short distances in the city. I have brought the car to a shop before, but they were unable to reproduce the issue. It is hard to reproduce because the car needs to be driven for 20-30 minutes, preferably on the highway, before the steering stiffness occurs. It appears that this is a well-known issue at this point, and I have seen multiple reports online about the issue. From what I understand, the only fix at this point is to replace the EPS steering rack (part 53650-TBC-A02). However, it seems that some people have had the issue reoccur even after replacing the rack. I believe this issue is a major safety concern. The steering becomes unpredictable when driving in a straight line. I am forced to constantly overcorrect and weave back and forth when driving on the highway at 70+ mph, thus dramatically increasing the risk of an accident. There needs to be some sort of safety recall for this issue, as it seems to be a manufacturer issue with the EPS motor that has affected several vehicles.

My vehicle has oil dilution issue. The engine releases toxic gas from the engine compartment to interior of the car though the air duct. This gives me major headache and forces me to drive with my widow open as to not worsen my asthma issues. After checking the oil dipstick I can smell the gas aroma coming from the oil. This is a serious environmental issue and an even greater health concern of mine. I pray my health does not deteriorate to where I develop cancer from the toxins.

Driving at 60MPH, heard a loud bang followed by an increase in wind noise. After pulling over, saw that the sunroof had a large hole in it with most of the broken glass falling into the sunroof soft cover. The remaining glass had a spider-web like pattern all the way to the border. There was no evidence of any foreign object in the sunroof area or any impact/collision. The car was not being driven under trees or other overhangs. There was rain in the vicinity, but no hail. Temperature was 45-50 degrees Fahrenheit.
