My steering went completely out. I took it in to the dealership and they replace the power steering pump, said that was not it and replaced the rack. I got it back, and the pump was loud, was clicking when turning, and steering was still moderately unresponsive. They said they would order another power steering pump and go from there. They replaced the pump after several months, and said they drove it with no issues. It is still unresponsive, and will occasionally jerk in one direction when trying to go straight. I am afraid me or someone else will get hurt in an accident with it one day. I just reached out to another dealer as well as Chrysler to see what my options are. It happens at any speed and is constant.

I have a 2016 Town and Country with 83k miles on it. While backing out of a crowded parking lot after my Childs baseball game, my transmission had failed. My car would not go back into drive, therefore I was rolling backwards. There were multiple people around and I could have seriously hurt someone or myself and my children. After it rolled back a bit, the transmission finally shifted and went into drive. At that point the car jolted forward and I was able to move to a safer location, while the car then went back to having no power. My children and myself were left stranded. The car has been towed and checked on by a mechanic. The trans pump has failed. Chrysler has a recall, s44, but conveniently my car is not covered by it. I am not sure why this very serious and dangerous incident happening with these vehicles would have ANY cars that were not part of this warranty. Chrysler needs to do better. This issue, with a build date of 9/2015 should be part of this recall, which has a build date of July 31,2015 through April 18,2016.

The contact owns a 2016 Chrysler Town and Country. The contact stated while driving 55 MPH, the vehicle failed to shift into gear properly. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the transmission solenoid to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated while driving 55 MPH on another occasion, the vehicle failed to shift into gear properly. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact took the vehicle back to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the transmission and torque converter to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact took the vehicle to a second local dealer: Ilderton Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Fiat (701 S Main St, High Point, NC 27260), where it was diagnosed with needing the transmission and torque converter to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 97,545.

While driving with my children, my 2016 Chrysler Town & Country Limited Platinum van started to make a loud whining noise and then it started lurching forward. I could tell it tried switching gears but transmission was slipping. There was no errors given. This happened suddenly. Vehicle has 88,000 miles. I drove home, but barely made it home as it wouldn't switch gears smoothly. I had it towed to transmission shop. They said the transmission was shot and needed replaced or complete rebuild. Error code give was P0844 loss of hydraulic pump prime.

The headrest on the passenger side burst open. From what I’m reading online due to a faulty plastic part from Chrysler. I was not in any accident. It burst on its own.

May 1, 2023EngineLane Departure
1) Check engine light appears and engine loses power when going up inclines on highway (bridge, hill, etc.) Cruise control shuts off involuntarily and even if you push the gas pedal to the floor, the vehicle decelerates. This causes a safety issue every time as cars in other lanes are swerving around me as I haven't enough power to adequately climb the hill. Dealer service dept says it's most likely a camshaft issue, based on their diagnostic code P0369. This started happening @ 65,000 miles - ridiculously early for such a major engine repair. My own mechanic says this is a known issue with Chrysler Town & Country, yet FCA refuses to stand behind their product. 2) Blind spot sensor failed @ 30,000 miles - also a known issue. Dealer tech said it's not worth the $800 repair because it will go out in another 30,000 due to poor design (sensor gets caked with mud/grime over time due to nonsensical placement), making this safety option useless. Vehicle is available for inspection of both items upon request.

The contact owns a 2016 Chrysler Town and Country. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lost motive power with the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but confirmed that the VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V461000 (Power Train). The failure mileage was approximately 93,000.

The gas-cap warning lamp came on but there was no issue with the gas cap upon inspection. Within two days, the transmission started slipping sporadically between gears as the van accelerated between 10-35 mph and there was a high-pitched whir from 0-40 mph. Shortly after, the gears would not engage after stopping at a light and the van was unable to move forward (as if it was in neutral.) We shut off the engine, let it cool down, and then restarted it. We were able to get to an independent service center who inspected the vehicle and indicated that it was likely the transmission pump which was recalled in August 2016. (S44) Not sure why Chrysler excluded my vehicle from this recall but it was extremely dangerous for the car to stop moving forward while driving especially on a busy county highway. Vehicle is now at dealer who will not repair it as a recall because my vehicle VIN was not originally included in the recall. Am the original owner of vehicle.

When driving experienced transmission slippage. Looked up vehicle and found safety recall S44 which applies to chrysler town and country 2015 to 2016. My vehicle has engine sales code ERB and transaxle sales code DG2 but is not showing up as being recalled based off my VIN. How do I fix it so that my vehicle is repaired based off of this recall when obviously the same part that is being recalled is installed in my vehicle?

With no warning the driver side rear door became unusable. It is frozen in the lock position and cannot be unlocked by the key fob, remote button, or manually. This is a dangerous situation should there be an accident or some other incident where someone needs to exit the vehicle quickly. There have been numerous complaints about this exact situation with this particular year and model. Why has there not been a recall?

The drivers sliding door is stuck locked/closed. A toddler was stuck in her car seat since I was not able to open the door. This could be a huge safety issue if in an accident or adult unable to help her get out through window.

When I was driving my children to daycare the car suddenly lost power and was unable to drive over 20 mph. Fortunately, it was early in the morning and the road I usually travel was not as busy as it is later in the day. The RPMs were jumping and the car was jerking around. Luckily, I was able to pull into a residential area and call for a tow. No warning lights came on in the vehicle and I was traveling on a main road with a speed limit of 50 MPH when the problem occurred. I had the transmission replaced and the mechanic said this is a very common problem with the 2016 Town and Country and upon further inspection I read that over 20,000 of these make and model vehicles were recalled for the same exact type of transmission failure. I doubt my mechanic has the old transmission still in his possession but I have receipts of what exactly was repaired.

The driver side rear sliding door started making a loud buzzing noise when the doors lock. Then the door stopped locking at all. This is a safety hazard because my kids could open the door while the vehicle was moving. I read about this happening with other 2016 T&C vans also. There were no warning lights or anything to indicate what was happening. Just the loud noise.

Engine completely shut off while in drive on the road, lost all power, brakes everything. managed to coast into to a parking lot, where the vehicle kept turning on and off. The key didn't seem to connect to the van. the van died as soon as i coasted it off the road. everything is electronic in the van. even taking inserting the key fob into the van did not work. Van has around 93000 miles on it. Had problems where the van would not start at all before then got it to start eventually. It was like the ignition was not reading the key. First time it happened driving on the road. newer vehicle battery and batteries in the key fob. Help. is there a recall on this van?

The driver side sliding door stopped unlocking, manually or automatically, it also stopped opening manually or automatically by button. I contacted my dealer who referred me to TSB 23-036-21 REV. A. They said the repair would be 100% covered by the manufacturer, however, after repair, they tell me that certain parts required for repair we not covered by the extended warranty. They replaced the actuator as the repair required, as well as the latch. The actuators are specified in the TSB, the latches are not. But the dealer insisted that to repair this they followed manufacturer instructions and the latch was necessary to fix the door. They gave me the FCA Chrysler hotline, which I called and they tell me that the latches ARE required to be replaced for repair, but that the customer is required to pay for this part which is nearly $800. If latch repair is necessary to make the van doors operate safely, it should be included in the TSB. I need help with getting resolution here.

The contact owns a 2016 Chrysler Town and Country. The contact stated while driving 40 MPH and accelerating, the transmission experienced hard shifting. The vehicle started jerking and made abnormally loud sounds. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact continued driving at 40 MPH on the highway to prevent the failure from reoccurring. The vehicle was taken to a local Pep Boys and to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the failure was associated with the power train and the transmission needed to be replaced. The dealer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 160,000.

Safety component issue. Sliding doors have actuator locking mechanism failure. May cause the door to not lock or unexpectedly lock shut with adults or children are in rear vehicle seats. Loud buzzing noise is one symptom to identify a faulty sliding door actuator.

The vehicle was listed on the Facebook marketplace for 96,000 miles, while near purchasing for $8,900, cash asked the seller to run a carfax and he took very long, and never gave it to us. I took it upon myself to contact someone to run the VIN number on the vehicle ... the carfax shows the vehicle has 450,487 miles registered in Maryland at 450,487 miles on 11-16-2022. Said vehicle with the same vin was registered in New York State on 12-12-2022 and listed with an odometer reading of 99,451 miles. The receipt was given with the wrong price than originally charged (included in uploads). Odometer was turned back from this dealership registered in New York State I believe it's very unfair for law-abiding citizens like myself to go through such a disastrous experience as well as almost losing $8,900, I'm kindly asking you to please investigate this matter because I believe most of the vehicles sold by this seller has fake odometer reading (mileage). Please run the VIN for this vehicle registered to different states with different odometer reading upon reaching New York State to scam law-abiding citizens. I want this to be investigated ASAP. I enclosed for your convenience my messenger chats with the seller.

My van will sporadically lose power and stall while driving down the road. I have to put in back in park to restart the van to continue on down the road. It's been scary driving with my 3 kids in the van. I'm afraid the stalling out is going to cause me to get into a collision. I had it in a shop recently and they told me that it was related to a recall S44 or 16V461000, but they didn't have a tech who could do the repair to the transmission. But another shop says that my van doesn't have any recalls even though my van falls within all the parameters of the known safety recall.
