The contact owns a 2015 Ram Promaster 3500. The contact stated that while driving 70-75 MPH, the DEF warning light was illuminated. The contact added DEF fluid to the tank and continued driving; however, a message indicating that the vehicle was in countdown mode or LIMP mode was displayed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed; however, the dealer had informed the contact that the cause of the failure could not be determined after performing several tests. The vehicle remained stuck in LIMP mode and had remained at the dealer unrepaired for two months. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and the contact requested an engineer's assistance in diagnosing the vehicle. A case was filed, but no assistance was provided. The contact stated that the vehicle was essential to get to several doctors' appointments after he had undergone surgeries. The failure mileage was approximately 98,000.

MY EXACT VEHICLE RAM PROMASTER I4 3L TURBO DIESEL WITH FACTORY AIR IS ON A SAFETY RECALL FOR BAD COOLANT FAN, BUT CHRYSLER IS SAYING THAT MY VIN DOES NOT QUALIFY. THE CHRYSLER DEALER TELLS ME I NEED TO REPLACE MY COOLING FAN BECAUSE IT IS SHORTING AND BLOWING THE FUSE AND POSSIBLY AFFECTING THE RELAY ALSO. THIS FAN CODE IS ALSO PUTTING THE VAN IN LIMP MODE AND NOT ALLOWING THE DIESEL PARTICULATE FILTER TO BE REGENERATED.
