The vehicle was steered to the side of the road where condensation was observed in the middle of the road. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the radiator and transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. On another occasion, while driving at approximately 20 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was determined that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 170,000.

While driving down the highway at 60 mph, the truck stumbled then completely died. After coasting to a stop truck would not restart. Towed to a repair shop to find out the Bosch CP 4 fuel pump exploded and contaminated the whole fuel system with metal shavings. A very expensive and lengthy repair. GM has known there is issues with these parts, but has failed to recall and fails to cover repair costs. Other manufacturers using the same part have issued recalls. While I was able to safely the get vehicle to the side of the road, the failure could’ve resulted in an accident causing personal injury or property damage.

I was driving at approximately 40 MPH on a busy city street, I was going to be getting on the freeway where my speed would be in excess of 70MPH. Suddenly without any warning, my 2015 GMC Sierra 2500 HD Duramax died. I had no power at all which means no steering, brakes, etc. I was able to get the vehicle off the road with brute force. After the vehicle was towed to the dealership they inspected it and said that the Fuel Injector Pump failed which put metal throughout the whole fuel injection system (>$7000 repair). While doing some additional research on the Internet I find out that this is a common problem for the 2011-2016 GM Duramax trucks, because GM chose to use a Bosch Fuel Injector Pump which is not suitable for use with US low sulphur diesel fuel.

IT SEEMED LIKE A SAFETY ISSUE TO ME, BUT DON'T KNOW IF IT IS IMPORTANT ENOUGH FOR YOUR TO INVESTIGATE.
