The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-250. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 25 MPH, the vehicle started to shake, and the steering wheel seized, with the DEF warning light illuminated. The contact pulled over, and the vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that there was coolant leaking from the EGR cooler, causing the EGR cooler to fail. The contact was informed that the EGR cooler needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the vehicle was unsafe to drive due to the failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 114,081.

The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-250. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed hauling a trailer, the exhaust manifold dropped raw fuel into the exhaust and it caught fire. The contact was able to extinguish the fire. The exhaust filter over maximum limit message was displayed. There were no reported injuries, crash , police report or air bag deployment. The fire department was on the scene. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that cylinder one was down and the engine and transmission needed to be replaced. The mechanic informed the contact that the EPF may be damaged and not work. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, who referred to the NHTSA hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 195,000.

The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-250. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was a message displayed informing the contact that the vehicle was limited to 50 MPH, after which the vehicle entered LIMP Mode. The driver was able to pull over to the shoulder of the roadway, where the failure persisted. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the exhaust gas recycling (EGR) system. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to Customer Satisfaction Program: 21M04. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, a case was opened, and the contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 147,000.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD F-250 SD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SERVICE ENGINE INDICATOR FLASHED FOR A FAILURE PERTAINING TO THE DIESEL EXHAUST FLUID (DEF). BLAKE FULENWIDER FORD (115 W HOUSTON ST, BEEVILLE, TX 78102, (361) 358-8877) DIAGNOSED THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO THE DEF SENDING UNIT PUMP. THE MANUFACTURER SENT AN EXHAUST WARRANTY CAMPAIGN DOCUMENT, BUT WAS UNABLE TO IDENTIFY THE NOTIFICATION. DUE TO THE FAILURE, THE VEHICLE WAS UNABLE TO PASS AN EMISSIONS INSPECTION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND THE CONTACT WAS WAITING TO DETERMINE THE GUIDELINES FROM THE EMISSIONS OFFICE AND THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

LETTER FROM SENATOR BURR ON BEHALF OF CONSTITUENT RE 2014 FORD F250 FUEL SYSTEM. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED HE DROPPED THE VEHICLE OFF AT THE DEALER ON JANUARY 26, 2015, WITH A LOW ENGINE LIGHT, WATER IN THE FUEL SEPARATOR AND A LEAKING RADIATOR. WHEN THE CONSUMER PICKED THE VEHICLE UP ON FEBRUARY 3, 2015, THE DEALER STATED THE REPLACED THE RADIATOR. WHILE DRIVING ON FEBRUARY 7, 2015, THE VEHICLE WENT INTO REDUCED POWER MODE AND THE REDUCED POWER LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER. AN INSPECTION REVEALED THE ENTIRE FUEL SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. ACCORDING TO THE DEALER, WATER IN THE FUEL SENSOR WAS UNPLUGGED. THE CONSUMER STATED THAT WOULD EXPLAIN WHY THE FUEL SEPARATOR LIGHT WAS ON, WHEN HE PICKED UP THE VEHICLE.*JB
