What 635 owners told NHTSA about the 2014 Chrysler Town And Country

Vehicle was built in April 2014 and now has a transmission pump failure. Vehicles built between January and April 2014 were recalled. Subsequently 2015 through 2016 Vehicles were recalled for the same reasons.The Vehicle exhibit the exact symptoms as the recalled Vehicles. I also have obd data if needed for evidence.

2014 Chrysler Town and Country: While in motion, headrest and back of seat sounded like they "exploded". Headrest had broken and snapped forward thrusting head downward towards steering wheel. Back of seat lunged forward at the same time. Now air bag light is on in vehicle. This caused headache, neck pain, back pain, and pain sensitivity to hearing.

Such a great van and was disappointed I did not get more years and miles out of it.

The cylinder 4 misfires. A leak down test was done by a mechanic and it failed. The entire cylinder head will have to be replaced. There are loads of people with this issue, and I know there was a recall at one point for certain years but the year 2014 was not included, neither was cylinder 4. There were warning signs such as shaking in the car when coming to a stop.

There is a large number of people that are saying there is a safety concern. I am scared to drive it in case it happens again. It was on a busy road in front of a mall. [XXX] . Then I had to put myself into park and restart the vehicle and it ran fine again. I was able to get home. I have a check engine light that is related to some kind of pressure system according to o reillys auto store scanner. The safety of mysef and my child and others behind and around me put me at risk and it looks like it is a serious problem that isn't easily diagnosed. I just spend 2000 on different repairs and I explained this issue. It wasn't fixed. On that thread they are saying it could be a ecg valve gone bad. If that's the case it should be a recall. bought the car new in 2014. after approximately a year, the passenger rear sliding door began to close randomly after opening, on several occasions pinning the passenger who was entering or leaving the vehicle between the door and the frame. the car was under warranty so i had it "repaired" at the dealer. after several months, the same random closings began to occur but less frequently. When I contacted the company as for as the safety warranty goes, they said I missed it by two weeks. It exploded due to faulty equipment. It is literally a time bomb waiting to go off. The driver side has not gone off, but I am afraid it will deploy when driving down the road and hit me in the back of the head. I followed up with the manufacturer but never head anything back. I purchased part out of pocket to replace.

The oil cooler that is located under the intake manifold has a very bad issue and they crack and almost everyone of the engines like this I called about 9 diff shops and everyone of them told me it was a very common issue the one shop even keeps 5 in stock I already have changed this one but it causes them to leak oil down onto the exhaust and transmission and for some reason or another when ours started to leak badly the transmission acted up and we had to have that rebuilt so on top of the 250 dollar part it also cost almost 5k for a Transmission at same time I feel there needs to be something done about this as it a very bad common issue on all the engines like ours

I was driving on I95 and the car completely shut down. The RPM went to 0. It started up again after about twenty minutes. I had the car repaired (throttle body replaced) and since that incident I have had this same thing happen four more times. The car seems to “resets” itself. I have had the throttle body replaced twice, the ignition control switch twice, the relay harness and then the relay redone. The van only does this periodically. The dealership had my van for six weeks and “couldn’t duplicate the problem “. This usually happens when driving for over an hour and speeds over 65mph. Last week I was driving to work, eleven miles from home and it happened again. The van restarted after sitting about thirty minutes.

Left head needs to be replaced at just over 100,000 miles...There is a recall for all 3.6L pentastar engines from 2011-2013 but I have seen hundreds of 2014's that have the exact same issue. The recall needs to be expanded to include newer models as well. I was just given a quote of $5,000 to replace the left head.
