The contact owns a 2013 Chrysler Town and Country. The contact stated that the rear driver's side sliding door failed to open as needed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA Hotline. The entire vehicle shuts off randomly, including WHILE DRIVING and is dangerous for anyone who owns this model vehicle. I am surprised and disappointed that newer models (same base design) are experiencing the same issue and nothing has been done. On multiple occasions, and without warning, the car died while driving creating extremely dangerous and stressful situations. Additionally, the defective fuel pump relay caused the fuel pump to run even when the car was not running. This then caused damage to the fuel pump and required replacing both the relay and pump itself. As the Fuel Pump relay is a single unit soldered together, it could not be independently tested during normal checks. A recall was issues and executed for the same issue on Jeep and Durango models. I also see that this was brought up previously for this T&C model but was determined not to warrant a recall. A known, dangerous, costly, and preventable issue that was corrected elsewhere but not in this model. How is that possible? I've noted approximately the first time I recall the car shutting itself off while driving (this was not the only or last time it happened - nor is it the date of service when we had to pay to have the car repaired).

The car would turn off as I am driving on the high way. I would have to wait about forty five minutes to restart the car. As I did my research to why this was happing I came across information that this was caused by a malfunction with in the TIMP.

Started the vehicle and traveled maybe about 50 feet. Noticed loss of power steering. This was due to the engine stalling out. The vehicle would not start and there was a strong odor of fuel fumes in the vehicle cabin. Exited the vehicle and observed a large puddle of oil running downhill from the vehicle. The puddle also smelled of gasoline. I had the vehicle towed to a repair shop. The issue was determined to be a cracked oil filter housing assembly and the clip on the fuel return line had failed causing fuel to be sprayed onto the engine. The repair cost will be just over $800. It is fortunate that the engine was still cold and that the loss of oil caused the engine to shut off. If the engine had been hot enough to ignite the fuel, this could have had tragic results with a potential loss of my family's life. The oil filter housing assembly is a known issue with the Pentastar V6 3.6L engine. Chrysler so far has failed to take responsibility for this issue. I recently had to have repairs due to a faulty fuel pump relay. There appears to be related Chrysler TIPM recalls on almost every other model but the 2013 Town and Country. This issue appears to cause the vehicle to not start or allow the fuel pump to remain running after the vehicle is shut down. My Town and Country would not start and it produced strong fuel fumes. As noted, there are multiple safety issues noted with this model of vehicle that remain unresolved. It is a 2013 model but the issues are ones that have existed since the production of the vehicle and Chrysler has yet to assume responsibility. I will add a copy of the repair invoice shortly.

Has happened numerous times with no codes shown on the dash. Fuel was adequate and no apparent defects. Taken to mechanic and there are no codes to check and commonly the engine will start up after a while and appear to have no problems. This is very dangerous as the car can stall at any speed.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the Wireless Ignition Node (WIN) module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was being repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN and the year vehicle was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V373000 (Electrical System, Air Bags) . The failure mileage was approximately 115,000. The VIN was unavailable.

The contact had taken the vehicle to a dealer however, the mechanic was unable to determine the cause of the failure. Upon investigation, the contact linked the failure to the ignition switch which would cause the vehicle to turn off inadvertently upon the slightest movement of the key while in the ignition. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 102,000.

I purchased this van used in 2023, but this problem has been on going for years thebowner said.The van sliding door get stuck in open position on right side. There is a buzzing noise coming from lock mechanism in left sliding door when you open ANY door or press the unlock button. There is no recalls for this but it is a known problem. Issues with faulty 2013 chrysler town and country mini van are currently in lawsuit claims. Help fix this before it kills someone. I have 3 small children if the door opens while driving that puts us in danger.
