The brake lines and fuel lines were corroded. The corrosion of the brake lines would lead to brake failure and the corrosion of the fuel lines would lead to a fire. The Hyundai dealer was the first to find the brake problem and after inspection by my mechanic, the fuel lines were also found to be corroded. I took my car in for a recall service at the dealer and after the service my brake light would illuminate when decelerating(with or without brakes being applied) .

The contact owns a 2011 Hyundai Genesis Coupe. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed during a rainstorm, there was water leaking into the interior of the vehicle through the rear windshield. The contact observed mold developing throughout the interior of the vehicle. Later, the contact stated that upon attempting to start the vehicle, there was a fuel odor inside the vehicle. After a visual inspection, the contact observed fuel leaking in the engine compartment. No warning lights were illuminated. I was driving home on January 1, 2023 at 5 AM at about 60 mph on an interstate when I heard a sound come from the back of my car and then looked into the rearview mirror and smelled smoke and saw fire flames in my rear and side mirrors. I tried to use my brakes to stop my car, but the brakes would not work, so I took it out of Drive and put it into park… which slowed the car down and I was able to exit the car right before it burst into flames. The car is now a total loss.

THIS VEHICLE WAS PURCHASE NEW ON 2/4/11. IT IS RATED AT 20 MPG CITY 30 MPG HIGHWAY. THE MILEAGE HAS CONSISTENTLY BEEN POOR. IT NOW HAS 4200 MILES ON IT AND HIGHWAY MILEAGE WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ON, IN WARM WEATHER, WITH NO LOAD OTHER THAN THE DRIVER IS AROUND 24 MPG. I HAD IT CHECKED BY HYUNDAI AND THEY REPLACED THE 02 SENSOR. THIS IMPROVED THE HIGHWAY MILEAGE SLIGHTLY FROM 23 TO 24 MPG. IT HAS NEVER APPROACHED 25 MPG LET ALONE 30 MPG. I HAVE READ ABOUT OTHERS COMPLAINING ABOUT THE POOR MILEAGE ON 4 CYLINDER GENESIS COUPES. IF THE MILEAGE RATINGS HAD BEEN MORE ACCURATE I WOULD NOT HAVE EVEN CONSIDERED BUYING THIS CAR. PLEASE RECALCULATE THE MILEAGE RATINGS TO ACCURATELY REFLECT WHAT PEOPLE WILL GET.
