While making a left turn at a four-way intersection, the passenger side front door opened the latch failed. This vehicle is equipped with motorized door handles that retract/flush when the vehicle is in drive indicating that the doors are locked. The door handles were retracted while driving the vehicle and making the slight left turn. During the turn, the passenger side front door opened and was a jar that could be indicated on the dashboard as well. This would put anybody at risk sitting in the passenger seat or causing an accident from the malfunction and alarm of the door. The vehicle was examined by a service department of a Kia dealership and parts of the door latch and or handle were replaced according to the repair order.

How to use these: a complaint is one owner’s report, filed voluntarily and published unverified. Patterns matter more than any single story. If several owners describe the same failure at similar mileage, put that system at the top of your pre-purchase inspection list. Back to the full 2026 Kia Ev9 Bev verdict →
