What 57 owners told NHTSA about the 2025 Ram Ram 2500 Regular Cab

I have a 2025 ram 2500 diesel, and I use it to tow, as I am a farmer, and have a farm. I pull stock trailers, my tractor, and other trailers associated with my farm. I took my truck in for the trailer tow module recall to be done over 4 months ago, and they said they had to order the part and would call once it came in. It has now been over 4 months, I have called the dealer to follow up, and keep getting the same answer. The part hasn't arrived yet, and they will call me when it comes in. Every time I hook up a trailer it disables my trailer brakes, throws the AEB light on, and I am afraid, that in the instance I have to stop abruptly, that I may crash, and or hurt or even Kill someone due to these issues. I'm at a loss, they are worried about doing the trucks on the lot before they take care of the ones on the road per Jeremy at the Crain Ram dealership in Hot Springs, AR, which I don't feel is right to do. They got my money, now I have to deal with the issue, and potentially worse, until they get their unsold trucks done on the lot. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

I am filing a safety complaint regarding a persistent soft brake pedal condition affecting my truck. Under normal driving conditions and especially during low-speed braking with no trailer or payload attached, the brake pedal feels excessively soft and requires additional pedal travel before adequate braking response occurs. The authorized dealer inspected the vehicle and replaced the brake pads and resurfaced the rotors; however, the soft brake pedal condition continues unchanged. After further evaluation, the dealer stated that their engineer determined the vehicle is operating within factory specifications and declined to pursue any additional diagnosis or repairs. I use this truck for towing an RV, and due to the abnormal brake feel and reduced confidence in braking performance, I do not feel safe towing with this vehicle. As a result, the truck remains parked at my residence because I believe continued operation may present a safety risk. I have driven other trucks of the exact same year and model that exhibited significantly firmer and more responsive brake pedal feel, which leads me to believe my vehicle is not operating normally despite the dealer’s claims. In addition, I have found numerous online reports from other owners describing similar soft brake pedal complaints, including reports of lemon law claims and unresolved brake concerns. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this issue for potential brake system defects or inconsistent braking performance that could affect vehicle safety, particularly during towing or emergency braking situations.

I own a 2025 Ram 2500 that is affected by Recall 03D involving the Trailer Brake Control Module. This recall is related to a potential failure of the trailer braking system and trailer lighting system, which creates a serious safety risk while towing. I regularly use this truck for towing, and due to this issue, the vehicle may not safely tow trailers, increasing the risk of an accident. I have experienced this issue while towing, all lights will shut off on my trailers and warnings that the trailer has been disconnected repeatedly pop up. Then the lights will flash back on just to repeat again. After this happened the first time (last year), I took my truck in to have them run diagnostics and they were unable to find anything wrong, suggesting it could be the trailer, and now the recall is here. I have contacted my dealer, but the replacement part is not available and has an expected 55 week leadtime due to Stellantis allowing dealers to order only one module per week. There are 55 customers in line ahead of me waiting on this part for their own trucks. This leaves me with a vehicle that cannot be safely used for its intended purpose. I am requesting that the manufacturer expedite parts availability and provide a timely resolution to this safety recall Stellantis should not be allowed to sell anything while all of the current trucks on the road are unsafe.

I purchased a new 2025 RAM 2500 on June 2, 2025. Within the first week, I began experiencing very soft brake response. Occasionally, I can press the brake pedal to the floor with modest effort, and most of the time, I need to double or triple tap the brakes to achieve a firm response. I have visited four different dealerships across three states regarding this issue. Some service departments have acknowledged the problem, while others have stated it is "normal" and as expected, as documented in my maintenance receipts. My truck has been in for service seven times and currently has 7,900 miles on it. This issue is widely discussed among Dodge Ram owners on forums across the internet. It is even more concerning given that this is a heavy-duty truck intended for towing. I tow a 17-foot, 1,800 lb (dry weight) trailer and often rely on the trailer brakes to safely descend hills or exit highways. I sincerely request your office to investigate the braking issues associated with this vehicle. It is concerning to spend $55,000 on a vehicle that lacks basic safety guarantees and performs like a poorly maintained vehicle many years older. The brakes are very inconsistent with a spongy pedal. When a vehicle in front of me caused an emergency stop, the pedal continued to travel almost to the floor and never felt firm. However, if the adaptive cruise control starts to brake first and the brake pedal gets depressed by the driver after that, it feels firm. These brakes are very unsafe on a truck rated to tow as much as these are.
