While driving normally, my 2025 Honda Prologue experienced an immediate, catastrophic mechanical and electronic failure in both the steering and braking systems. The steering wheel completely locked up/failed to respond, and the brakes became completely non-functional simultaneously, causing an absolute loss of control of the vehicle. Due to this sudden system failure, the vehicle veered off course and crashed, resulting in severe structural damage, complete destruction of the front passenger-side suspension, and rendering the vehicle a total loss. American Honda Motor Co. Corporate was immediately notified of this severe safety defect (Case No. 16372717. However, Honda Corporate has explicitly refused to send an engineer or inspector to evaluate the vehicle's electronic or mechanical logs, and they also refused to provide their denial statement in writing. The vehicle remains un-repaired as evidence of this dangerous factory defect.

Vehicle: 2025 Honda Prologue Location: Sacramento, California Date of Incident: [XXX] What failed or malfunctioned The vehicle experienced a sudden loss of directional stability involving the steering system, brake-by-wire system, and electronic stability control (ESC). Steering and braking inputs did not produce proportional vehicle response. What happened While driving under normal conditions, the vehicle began drifting to the left. I attempted to steer back to the right and applied braking; however, the vehicle did not respond as expected. Electronic stability control did not appear to engage or correct the loss of control. The vehicle then deviated from its intended path, overturned, and struck a fence. The vehicle was declared a total loss. No other vehicles were involved, and no injuries occurred. Safety risk This failure created an immediate and serious safety risk. The loss of steering and braking effectiveness could have resulted in severe injury or fatality. The rollover demonstrates a critical safety concern. Warning signs No warning lights, messages, or symptoms were present prior to the failure. The event occurred suddenly without notice. Inspections The vehicle was inspected by police and insurance representatives. The manufacturer has not yet inspected the vehicle. The vehicle remains available for inspection through the insurance provider. Dealer confirmation The issue has not yet been reproduced due to the vehicle being totaled. Additional concerns The vehicle’s behavior was inconsistent with normal operation of safety-critical systems designed to maintain vehicle control. I am concerned about system performance, calibration, or possible electronic control failure. Manufacturer contact I reported this issue to Honda Customer Care by phone and requested escalation to engineering review. On December 1, 2025, the 2025 Honda Prologue was pulling into a parking spot between two parked vehicles at low speed. While in forward gear, the Prologue experienced an unexpected acceleration event and collided with three parked vehicles, two of whom were hit with sufficient force to impact adjacent parked vehicles. The driver is unaware of having pressed down on the accelerator and is additionally concerned about why none of the vehicle safety features such as the equipped Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) activated to prevent these collisions. The vehicle was brought to a local Honda dealership, yet they were unable to draw any conclusions regarding why the unexpected acceleration event occurred. The vehicle owner requested a DTC scan report and EDR (event data recording) data from the vehicle, and received the DTC report but not EDR data. The Honda dealership advised calling the American Honda customer service line with the case number to obtain EDR data. The customer service line was not able to assist because they were not able to identify the case manager, which points to a documentation error within Honda servicing processes.

How to use these: a complaint is one owner’s report, filed voluntarily and published unverified. Patterns matter more than any single story. If several owners describe the same failure at similar mileage, put that system at the top of your pre-purchase inspection list. Back to the full 2025 Honda Prologue EV verdict →
