We were pulling a 5th wheel camper on the highway at 62 mph. We experienced a series of sudden breaking sensations. Engine RPMs did not change during these events. We had been traveling for 45 minutes and decided to cancel our camping trip and return home because we were afraid of getting stranded away from home. The sensation felt like a sudden strong application of the rear brakes. It was very momentary. We turn around and shifted the transmission to "L" which limits the highest gear to 7. We did not have any more incidents. When we were close to home we shifted back to drive and the problem returned. We were concerned with a complete loss of control or motion if the problem got worse. We have an appointment to have the truck looked at next week. There were/are no diagnostics codes visible on the dash.

The infotainment system regularly stops producing audio. This applies to all audio, including turn signal, navigation, radio and Apple Carplay. Yes, it's available to inspection. While it's not a huge safety concern, there have been a couple times it's quite working, and I was very distracted by the audio cutting in and out. A few times I've driven down the road with my blinker on because I couldn't hear it blinking as it comes through the speakers. Yes, I've taken it to the dealer, they apply software fixes that they know won't correct the issue. It starts right back up a few days later. No, it has not been inspected by the manufacturer, other than their authorized service center. No warning prior to it appearing.

This truck was parked on a job site, on a flat parking lot over blacktop, doing a regen for the 5th time in just a few days. The truck had 4,000 miles on it. When it completed the regen, we shut the truck off. Within 15 minutes the truck was fully engulfed in flames. A fire investigator looked at it and determined the fire started in the engine bay, below the master cylinder. He said this was a GM problem. As this truck was a replacement truck, for another broken down truck, we were outside the auto coverage on our insurance. The business property is covering the tool loss, and said it isnt worth going after GM as they make it impossible. I know this isnt the only vehicle this has happened to, and they simply refuse to even answer. I want to file a formal complaint against GM, and want them to cover the loss, the loss of use. This is a safety matter as this could have happened driving down the road and caused loss of life.

On April 13, 2026, I experienced two safety-related malfunctions while driving my 2025 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 LTZ on a two-lane highway in light rain. At approximately 6:24:05 PM, the windshield wipers stopped in the upright position for about 2–3 seconds while the vehicle was in motion, causing a temporary loss of forward visibility. At approximately 6:26:56 PM, while traveling around 65 MPH, the forward collision/adaptive cruise system falsely detected a vehicle in my lane when none was present and applied sudden, hard braking without driver input. This caused a noticeable forward pitch of the vehicle. At approximately 6:27:13 PM, the system again indicated a vehicle ahead when there was none. Road conditions were wet, and this unexpected braking created a risk of loss of control or a rear-end collision. The systems involved include the windshield wipers and forward collision/adaptive cruise control. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. There were no warning lamps prior to these incidents. The only indication was a false vehicle detection displayed on the instrument cluster and heads-up display. These issues have not yet been reproduced by the dealer, as they were just reported to both the dealership and GM. The vehicle has only been inspected by the dealership to date. The truck also has ongoing issues, including frequent audio cutting out (6+ service visits, unresolved) and intermittent failure of the camera system to activate, which has been previously documented and not corrected. Dashcam footage is available for both incidents and can be provided for review. These issues appear intermittent and without warning, making them difficult to anticipate or mitigate during normal driving. The unexpected nature of both the wiper malfunction and unintended braking increases the overall safety risk, especially in adverse weather and highway conditions.

The vehicle was driven to a job site in Gowanda NY. The computer indicated it neede to clean the exhaust filter. The truck was parked in an open area on a blacktop parking area. The truck finished a Regen approximately 30 minutes later. The vehicle was shut down and left unattended. Approx 30 minutes later, the driver, heard noises, came around a structure and saw the vehicle was on fire. The driver did attempt to use a fire extinguisher to no avail. They then called 911 and the fire department was dispatched. The department put out the fire but the vehicle is a total loss. As this was a work site, the vehicle was towed to our shop and stored inside. The inland marine insurance company hired a fire investigator, and they looked at the vehicle. They determined the fire originated on the lower firewall in the engine compartment. He paused his investigation, to await a representative of GM to be present for destructive analysis to determine exact cause. The GM case number is XXX. This vehicle had errored multiple times and did Regen every 2-300 miles. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Exhaust fumes are returned back in to the cab of the truck. Exhaust fumes, particularly from diesel engines, are highly dangerous, containing carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides, and fine particles that can cause severe respiratory illnesses, cardiovascular disease, and cancer. Short-term exposure leads to dizziness, headaches, and nausea, while long-term exposure can be fatal or cause lasting lung damage. Truck was taken to dealer and verified by service to be an issue. I have attached the paperwork from that appointment. The truck was fixed by the dealer and retuned with no initial exhaust smell. The exhaust fumes have began to enter the cab of the truck again. We have contacted a new dealership service department to have the truck inspected they have given us an appointment in a week from today.

The contact owns a 2025 Chevrolet Silverado 3500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds and towing a trailer or an RV, the brake pedal was depressed, and the trailer brake failed to engage. The contact stated there was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent. The contact stated that the manual trailer brake was able to activate, and the trailer brake engaged to slow the trailer or the RV. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the tow hitch wiring harness needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the tow hitch was factory installed. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 1,500.

We were towing our 2025 Brinkley Z3100 Fifth Wheel and had a complete loss of trailer brakes with no warning or notification during a trip to and from the tennessee mountains from Florida. Had we not noticed the poor stopping ability it would have been an issue on any downhill grades as the trailer is in excess of 14,000 lbs. We stopped disconnected and reconnected the 7 pin connector and brakes were restored. This happened 4 times. We have made an appointment with the service department at Davis Chevrolet in Gainesville Florida however the service writer (Paul) has already indicated that he feels it is a trailer problem with the interaction of the trailer. Internet searches show this is a common problem with the GM Products and a Service Bullitin has been issued for years 2023-2024. Ours is a 2025 with the identical issues. I think there could be many many more of these out there and hope the issue can be resolved. I can reproduce the problem and it meets the full description of the Service bullitin 6379278.

The trailer brake controller randomly shuts down. We have gone through our trailer meticulously and have found zero issues. We have used this trailer with other trucks without any issues. This truck brake controller is shutting down leaving the driver with out brakes. We almost had a wreck due to this. GM keeps telling us that it is a trailer issue however the trailer works perfectly with any other truck. Someone is going to die in a wreck of this is not addressed immediately.

The tailgate is unlatching itself (electronically). This occurs every 30 seconds when the vehicle is parked. This is a safety issue because if someone is standing or walking behind the vehicle, the tailgate will open and injure them. Because the lights activate when the tailgate unlatches, the battery was drained and the vehicle could not start. Thus damaging the life of the battery. This has occurred consistently for the last 2 days. The dealer has the part for the issue because the 2024 has a recall but 2025 (ours) does not. Please be advised, the drained and dead battery had left us stranded.

How to use these: a complaint is one owner’s report, filed voluntarily and published unverified. Patterns matter more than any single story. If several owners describe the same failure at similar mileage, put that system at the top of your pre-purchase inspection list. Back to the full 2025 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 verdict →
