WHEN I USED ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL, MY CAR TENDS TO LEAN SLIGHTLY TO THE RIGHT. IT VEERS OVER A BIT AND THEN JERKS TO THE LEFT. ALL IN ALL, I CAN'T USE ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL ON THE FREEWAY WITHOUT PAYING ATTENTION. IT IS GENUINELY DANGEROUS IF VEHICLES ARE DRIVING ALONGSIDE OR BEHIND ME. OTHER THING, WHEN I USED ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL FOR ALMOST ONE HOUR, THEN IT SUDDENLY BECOMES INACTIVE. IF I HAVE BEEN FOLLOW ANOTHER CAR, then what should happen when it suddenly becomes inactive??? I was very lucky at that time because there was no car in front of me. After 5,000 miles, my car began to make a slight noise on the right side when I slowed down in the city. Maybe it happened in the front drive axle assemblies or the front right low arm control.

Component: Honda Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS/AEB). Vehicle is in GEICO insurance claim process, not yet released. EDR data has not been extracted and is available for inspection if preserved before the vehicle changes hands. Safety risk: Two failure modes. (1) False AEB activations occurred multiple times — while driving at ~20 mph and while reversing at low speed, with no obstacle present. Hard sudden braking with no warning created rear-collision risk. (2) On 6/23/2026 at ~9:50 AM, AEB failed to activate when I struck a parked vehicle. Airbags deployed on impact, briefly incapacitating me. My foot remained on the accelerator. Standard post-collision safety design calls for automatic power cutoff and brake application after airbag deployment, specifically to prevent continued acceleration when a driver may be incapacitated. This vehicle did neither — it continued accelerating, significantly worsening the collision. I sustained soreness and bruising. Dealer confirmation: I did not take the vehicle to a dealer for the phantom braking. Per other NHTSA complaints for the Prologue and Honda's broader CMBS issues (Engineering Analysis EA25002), dealers have reportedly been unable to replicate the issue and told owners the behavior is normal. Inspections: GEICO assessed the vehicle for the claim. No inspection by Honda or independent mechanic for AEB specifically. EDR data not yet extracted. Warning indicators: During false AEB activations, the collision warning appeared on the dashboard at the moment of braking, not before. No advance warning. No persistent warning lamps or diagnostic messages indicating CMBS malfunction at any point during ownership. Phantom braking occurred intermittently throughout ownership.

My 2024 Honda Prologue (VIN [XXX]) only has 16K miles on this vehicle. Both front half-shaft CV joints are failing and have been failing for the last SEVERAL months by manifesting a persistent and worsening very loud clicking when loading and unloading the drive-train, driving up hill and executing any type of turn maneuver. I've complained numerous times to the Honda Dealership here in Seattle start 4Q 2025. They informed me that this has been an ongoing "known" problem with this specific model over the entire model 3 year offering from 2024-26, but at that time Honda America had no revised part number to effectively mitigate the problem. They initially replaced the failed CV half-shafts with the same part number, only to have those parts fail again. Honda America subsequently instructed all Honda dealerships maintenance depts to stop replacing these parts until a newly revise part number is released. I was instructed to contact Honda America at their national customer service at 800-999-1009. (My Case # [XXX]). I've spoken with at least 20-30 difference Honda reps over the last 6 months with no commitment to do anything to fix this potentially dangerous problem. When the outer CV joint completely fails, it could potentially turn into a pole-vault stick and literally flip the car at freeway speeds and definitely cause a catastrophic loss of control at freeway speeds or at any velocity/momentum whatsoever. The very disappointing fact is there is NOW a revised/vastly improved Part Number (Honda Part #86284282) that offers customers a fix to this very well known problem. Honda has not officially issued a recall so dealers are not able to perform this fix under warranty. My friend has this same car and her 2024 Honda Prologue is making this same exact clunking noise. She's faced with the same dilemma. Please, we all need your advocacy to get Honda America to act, not to cower and ignore the issue. Thank you for your advocacy! I was driving on the highway and there was traffic I was good 2-3 feet goin away from the car infront of me and going 10 mph and the automatic emergency break went off giving whiplash and anxiety since the breaking is so impactful. I had turned of about a month ago so I don’t understand how it turned back on

Description of Safety Defect: The Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) / Forward Collision Avoidance system is severely malfunctioning. On multiple occasions, the vehicle has experienced "phantom braking"—abruptly slamming on the brakes for no reason whatsoever. There were no obstacles, pedestrians, or vehicles ahead to trigger the system. This malfunction is happening at high speeds on major highways. Safety Risk and Impact: This issue represents an immediate and terrifying safety hazard. Unexpectedly slowing to a sudden stop at highway speeds completely compromises vehicle control and leaves me at an extreme risk of being rear-ended by high-speed traffic. It is a severe danger to myself, my passengers, and every other driver on the road. While the vehicle is currently subject to a manufacturer recall regarding the backup camera and other software updates, this specific, dangerous braking behavior makes the vehicle incredibly unsafe to operate. I request that the NHTSA review this issue immediately to determine if a broader safety investigation or expanded recall is required for the 2024 Honda Prologue.

The issue I'm experiencing with my 24 Prologue is the infotainment screen (which controls a lot of the vehicle) sometimes having issues showing the backup camera, or issues with the car not allowing me to utilize ACC (says temporarily unavailable), etc. I feel less safe in the vehicle as a result. The issue is an OPEN recall and the dealership I've contacted 5x [XXX] ) has refused to do the update to the vehicle for various reasons, the most recent being: Honda has not delivered the update needed to the dealership for them to do the work. Forward collision assist keeps turning off, saying the front camera needs to be cleaned. Loud cracking/clicking/popping noises from front suspension making low speed turns (left and right). Sounds like the wheels want to fall off. I got this Prologue with 4 miles on it, started making those noises at less than 3K. It sounds so bad! Honda seems to be waiting until someone is seriously injured to fix this issue.

Honda (really GM) has a problem with the CV joints on the Honda Prologue. It makes a clicking noise on sharp turns at low speeds. I also randomly get forward collision system disabled while driving, this is concerning as it affects the overall safety of driving this car.

Shortly after purchase, I observed damaged/torn underhood insulation and reported the condition to the selling dealership, with concern that the vehicle should be inspected for related issues. Prior to a crash incident, I experienced concerns involving braking-related behavior and advanced driver assistance features, including lane assist and object/collision warning functions. During the crash, while reacting to a roadway hazard, the vehicle swerved and struck a pole, and I did not experience warning or intervention from driver assistance features as expected. Following the incident, a diagnostic pre-scan identified multiple faults involving brake control, radar sensors, image processing, and communication systems. Since the incident, similar concerns have continued, including recurring braking/driver assistance concerns, and the issues remain unresolved. I am submitting this complaint due to concern that braking and advanced driver assistance systems may not have functioned as intended and may present an ongoing safety risk.

On April 5, 2026, I was stopped at a busy intersection waiting to turn left. When I proceeded through the light, the car's sensor suddenly went off and the car braked violently. I thought I had hit something in the road. (I was driving in one pedal mode). There was nothing in the road, and I had not collided with anything. The car just decided to brake because it incorrectly sensed something in my way. I was almost rear ended, and it was very frightening. My safety was at risk as well as the person behind me. I have an appointment with the service department at the dealership to address it. This car has been in for service 5 times in the 18 months I have leased it. I have complained to the dealer multiple times, and they have basically ignored me.

Direct cause - Unknown. What I do know however was that the automatic emergency break system on my vehicle was activated, causing the vehicle to stop in the middle of driving. This resulted in the vehicle behind me hitting my car. Prior to the incident occurring, no warning indicators (lamps, messages, etc.) came from the dashboard. The vehicle just stopped. Immediately after this accident occurred. I turned off the forward collision safety feature, as I was scared of the issue (vehicle stopping) repeating itself. To date, my vehicle has not been repaired or my insurance agency contacted, as I do not believe I should be held responsible for the cost of this repair.

The issues I am experiencing for approximately the past five to six months include:- Forward Collision System showing the message “Forward Collision System Unavailable.” Adaptive Cruise Control displaying “Adaptive Cruise Temporarily Unavailable.” Rear parking safety system applying sudden braking even when there is no pedestrian, vehicle, or object nearby. Even when the system is set to “Alert Only,” the vehicle still applies the brake unexpectedly.

The front axle makes a grinding and click sound whenever you're turning. Dealership replaced the part but then the new one just broke as well. Now Honda is refusing to replace again as they supposedly work on a fix that has been well over a year in the making now. Separate problem with the adaptive cruise control. It randomly slams on the brakes on the highway. Dealership agreed they experienced it but nothing they could do and I would just have to wait for a software update and hope it fixes the problem.

On 2/19/2026 I was taking an freeway exit ramp from I 15 south to Carrol Carrol canyon and I stepped on the brake but the car did not slow (my perception was it was speeding up), the vehicle collision warning did not sound and the vehicle did not emergency brake, therefore I hit a stopped vehicle at a stoplight. The air bags did not deploy. Attached pictures: Left side is the vehicle was rear ended. Right side is the Honda Prologue

Clicking noises when turning. Dealership no longer fixing (fixed passenger side, driver side still unrepaired). Front end collision breaking happening at random, causing unsafe breaking in the middle of the road. Also frequently happening when releasing break at stop light, narrowly avoiding multiple rear end collisions due to breaks being slammed on by vehicle collision system. Now with high voltage battery failure message, blowing cold air out of hvac system and performing at reduced acceleration.

On multiple occasions the alert for either the forward or rear collision warning system will sound with nothing either in front of or behind the vehicle. In these cases, the car automatically braked and brought the car to a stop in the middle of my driving. The component is not available for inspection. This puts myself and others at risk by completely overriding my ability to control the vehicle until I am able to put the car back in gear and begin moving again. It completely immobilizes the car for several seconds. It is also a safety hazard because I have been forced to turn off the automatic braking for both the front and rear collision warning systems. This problem has not been confirmed by the dealer, nor have any of the parts been inspected by those listed above. There were no warnings or messages before the problem began.

CV joints left and right make very loud clicking noise, the service department at the dealer ordered the parts in December of 2025, i have been at the dealer twice and today February 6, they told me that the parts are not expected until the end of March, I do not feel safe driving the car. Also the auto emergency brake does not work properly when backing up, false positive hard brakes happen all the time.

Backup Camera Failure (Occurred at approx. 1,000 miles) Part was on backorder, the rearview camera remained inoperative for approximately 99 days (February 22 through May 31, 2025). This rendered the vehicle non-compliant with federal rearview camera safety requirements. Emergency Braking System Issues (Ongoing) Compounding this, the vehicle’s emergency braking system would activate erratically and without cause, including: •When entering or exiting my driveway •During normal lane changes •When driving near trucks or concrete barriers Because these events occurred repeatedly and unexpectedly, I was forced to disable this safety system to avoid sudden braking events, further compromising vehicle safety. Broken CV Axles (Officially diagnosed at approx. 6,000-7,000 miles) •On May 31, 2025, the vehicle was returned to the dealership for backup camera installation and to revisit the knocking noise, this time properly documented. •That same day, both the left and right CV axles were diagnosed as broken, and I was told the vehicle was not safe to drive. •I had unknowingly been driving in this unsafe condition for almost three months. •The vehicle remained in the dealership’s possession until June 5, 2025 (6 days), Recurrence of Knocking Noise and Third Service Visit (January 10, 2026 – Approx. 15,000 miles) At approximately 15,000 to 16,000 miles, the knocking noise had returned (in both directions of steering) and I brought the vehicle in to be diagnosed •The dealership acknowledged hearing the noise. •I was told the sound is a “well-documented issue” with this model and considered “normal.” •I was informed that the vehicle was safe to drive. •I was told Honda is working on a redesigned part and that a recall is expected in approximately six months to one year. •I was specifically told Honda will not authorize replacement of the same axle parts again, as they continue to fail, and that I must wait for a recall remedy.

Three major problems stand out: faulty CV joints/axles that produce loud clicking or knocking noises when turning, false activations of the automatic emergency braking (AEB) system, which I had to turn off, and high-voltage system failures that can disable charging or limit performance. Other concerning issues include steering malfunctions, infotainment system blackouts, USB-C not connecting, battery not charging to 300mi range, forward collision sensor false activation, and braking anomalies.

The automatic emergency barking system suddenly applies even when there are no obstructions. Happens regularly. I was almost rear-ended at a stop light by another vehicle because of the sudden application of the emergency braking system, even though there was nothing in front of me. Axel makes a loud cranking sound when making a right or let turn. Battery 'Service vehicle now' warning consistently comes on with warning to reduce acceleration even when the vehicle is not in motion.

How to use these: a complaint is one owner’s report, filed voluntarily and published unverified. Patterns matter more than any single story. If several owners describe the same failure at similar mileage, put that system at the top of your pre-purchase inspection list. Back to the full 2024 Honda Prologue EV verdict →
