The contact owns a 2024 Ford Maverick. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V684000 (Back Over Prevention) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. One day in an attempt to exit a gas station, the contact realized he had pulled out too far into oncoming traffic. As the contact was reversing the vehicle, the backup camera froze which resulted in the contact hitting a vehicle that had quickly pulled up behind him. No injuries were reported and a police report was not filed. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair which resulted in the accident. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to file a complaint. The failure mileage was approximately 4,500. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
