The contact owns a 2023 RAM PROMASTER. The contact stated while driving the vehicle at an undisclosed speed, while changing lanes the steering wheel is trying to drive the vehicle into another lane and barriers at times without the Collison avoidance system activating. The contact stated the collision avoidance system is very delayed or sometimes does not show up at all, he also stated that the Collison avoidance waring states it needs maintenance, the contact stated that the vehicle feels like it is close to tipping over and requiring a "death grip" on the steering wheel enable to keep it in control. The vehicle was taken to multiple dealers were they would not diagnose the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 43,518.

Blind Spot Alert Unavailable. Service Required. Randomly occurs with potential for accidents while changing lanes. Dealer confirmed event but was unable to resolve. Appears many Promasters since 2021 experience same problem.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The vehicle’s Collision Avoidance / Automatic Emergency Braking engaged on highway. The van is available for inspection at anytime.  How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Yes  Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? The dealership was unable to duplicate issue on a test drive, but an independent service center (Safelite Auto Glass) detected a fault code (C14A5-92) related to Lane Departure and Automatic Emergency Braking.  Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Not at this time  Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? The “Collision Avoidance OFF” and “ESC” lights illuminated when the Automatic Emergency Braking engaged while vehicle slid into an adjoining lane on the interstate.
