Our Hyundai has a powertrain problem that is intermittent and random, and manifests itself in a couple of ways: 1) It drops out of gear while you are driving; there is no forward propulsion at all; the engine will rev when you press the gas, but no forward movement at all. You have to coast to a stop (or panic stop if the traffic allows), put it in reverse, drive backwards, then the transmission will “chunk” back into gear, then you can put it back in drive and continue forward again. This is life-threatening on a busy road or highway. Traffic has to flow around you like water around a rock in a stream while you try to use what’s left of your forward momentum to pull to the side of the road. Absolutely terrifying!!! The dash has also gone completely blank during some of these episodes. Nothing changes the situation: pressing “D”, shifting the paddles, nothing gets the vehicle back in gear. We have video taped these events twice, and provided those videos to our Hyundai Service Center, and to the Hyundai National Consumer Affairs team. They claim that they can’t reproduce it on demand, so they have done NOTHING. We are scared to drive the car. 2) As you start accelerating from a stop, the powertrain will miss the next gear. The engine revs, but you are not in gear, then it will catch a gear and continue to accelerate. These events happen often, but seemingly randomly. After several episodes last year, and no Service Center resolution, we reached out to the Hyundai National Consumer Affairs team, and have continued to be in contact with them, but they have not helped in any way to resolve this. They have assigned numerous Case numbers and Reps, and have emailed me over 20 times instructing me that I should go AGAIN to the Service Center, and then that they have no updates. We are terrified to drive this vehicle, and it is the only one we have. With these issues, we are in danger every time we leave home for our Dr. appointments and necessary trips.

While entering a roundabout at a slow speed (~5MPH), the electronic power steering on my wife's car failed, almost resulting in an accident with another vehicle, as it suddenly became very difficult to steer. The vehicle's power steering warning indicator turned on, and then the following warning messages appeared on the dashboard: Check Forward/Side Safety system, Check Lane Safety system, Check Lane Following Assist system, and Check Inattentive Driving Warning system. After turning into a nearby parking lot and parking, the vehicle was turned off and then back on, and all warning messages and the power steering warning indicator turned off. My wife was approximately 1 mile from home and decided to try to drive home. After getting back on the road, the same issue occurred again with all indicators and warnings repopulating on the dashboard this time with the vehicle traveling at approximately 35 MPH as she crossed a major intersection. My wife was able to get the car home safely without power steering, and after turning the car off and back on again, all warning messages and indicators turned off again. The next day, 4/30/2026, we contacted our local Hyundai dealer and Hyundai roadside assistance. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it is currently being serviced for this issue. We have not yet received an update on what caused the issue, but we felt it was important to report it to NHTSA because, if it had happened at a higher speed, it could have resulted in a serious accident and possibly serious injury or death of my pregnant wife and child, who was with her in the car at the time. I can provide any and all updates and documentation I receive from the dealer upon request, and the vehicle can possibly be made available for inspection upon request.

On September 11, 2025, Hyundai of New Port Richey (Lithia Motors) executed a Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) contract and delivered a 2023 Hyundai Palisade (VIN: [XXX] act day the manufacturer issued a federal Stop-Sale for Recall #283 (Seatbelt Latch Failure). Internal documents show the CPO sale relied on mechanical inspection data from 34 days prior (August 8, 2025). There is no documentation of a point-of-sale safety check performed on September 11, resulting in the vehicle being sold despite the active Stop-Sale order. Presumably, because the sale occurred on the exact date Recall #283 was issued, we were excluded from the manufacturer's October safety mailing. We unknowingly operated the vehicle for seven months without knowledge of the seatbelt defect, though we did receive subsequent notices for campaigns 9C9, 9C8, and Recall #292 (Ejection Mitigation). Combined, the active status of Recall #283 and Recall #292 leaves the vehicle with zero safe seating positions. Furthermore, internal records show the vehicle failed a computer diagnostic test ('NG' code) with a severely depleted 11.90V battery prior to purchase. The CPO sale was executed without resolving this documented fault. This correlates to a severe electrical issue where the parked vehicle spontaneously unlocks. Attached documents: "Palisade Sales Paperwork" - Documents the 9/11/25 purchase date. "Palisade Repair Order" - Documents the electrical/battery failure. (I also possess a video from the Hyundai technician confirming the battery issue). "Final Evidentiary Summary" - Chronological timeline of the transaction. "Palisade Inspection Form" - August 8, 2025, internal document recording the battery failure and outdated recall checks. This was not provided to us with the 9/11/25 purchase paperwork, and the customer signature is left blank. Safety recalls and I don’t feel safe with my children in car

Along with the two recalls of which I have not been contacted by Hyundai or provided any form of remedy, this is highly concerning and makes me feel extremely unsafe driving my vehicle, especially with the fact that I have small children and teenagers. My car had an issue from inception that I’ve let the dealer know about that. They still have not fixed including the fact that well I’ll be driving on certain roads are on the highway. It’ll come up with a warning telling me that I’m going the wrong way and try to engage the automatic breaking system. In addition, the second row seatbelt has been stuck and it won’t go back in. The third row seats often times try to disengage and come down. Anytime I hit a small bump or go over a speed bump even very slow. My Bluetooth goes off-line as well as the Navigation and then it comes back online within 3 to 5 minutes. Carr seems to have had a number of odd issues, including the way the engine has sounded as well as the electrical system is not engaging properly. I feel highly unsafe continuing to drive this vehicle and until all recalls and full proper analysis is conducted to remedy these issues I would want Either a full refund of the cash value that I purchased my vehicle for, a brand new vehicle at no additional charge, or a loaner vehicle until all of these issues are remedied, and then a full analysis to ensure that it meets the standards. My preference would be to get a full refund of the cash value in which I purchased my vehicle for so I can get something else that is more safe for my family.

The vehicle engine shuts off out of nowhere, unable to change/switch between gears for 2-3 minutes after stopping at a red light, stop sign, or during heavy traffic, with no activation of the Idle-stop-system before the incident. During the incident, the vehicle's steering was not able to turn. I have to keep my foot on the brake pedal for a while. After the second incident, I managed to drive the vehicle carefully and slowly to the dealership, but I was told there was no problem with the vehicle. So, I requested to take a drive with a mechanic, and the engine shut off in the middle of the street while slowing down for the third time. The dashboard reads "Auto stop is off." Shift to P or N and start engine manually. vehicle still at the dealership for 5 days.

I am reporting a recurring, life-threatening electronic failure in my 2023 Hyundai Palisade. On [XXX], while turning into an intersection, the vehicle's brakes spontaneously engaged, stalling the car in the path of oncoming traffic. During this event, multiple critical safety systems failed simultaneously, including the headlights and horn, leaving me unable to warn other drivers. A "violent" surge was required to clear the intersection, risking a high-speed collision. Similar spontaneous recurrences occurred on [XXX] and [XXX], and most recently on [XXX]. These incidents are characterized by "phantom braking," total loss of propulsion, and a complete lack of interior/exterior electronic response. Technical Evidence: Diagnostic scans revealed 16 distinct fault codes (including C161608, C181287, and U012687) involving the Chassis Control Module, Electronic Control Unit (ECU), and communication buses. Despite these logged codes, Hyundai and the dealership have repeatedly returned the vehicle to me, stating they "cannot replicate" the issue, thereby dismissing a documented electronic record of failure. Arbitration Status: I entered into BBB Auto Line Arbitration (Case #[XXX]). Hyundai has contested the claim by attempting to manipulate the "start date" of the defect to February 2024 to avoid Lemon Law statutes, despite dealer records confirming the first occurrence in August 2023. As of January 13, 2026, the dealership is again attempting to force me to take delivery of the unrepaired vehicle. This vehicle is a "phantom" safety hazard. The manufacturer’s inability to replicate a logged electronic fault during a brief test drive does not mitigate the extreme risk of sudden braking and power loss at highway speeds. I am requesting a formal investigation into these specific fault codes and the electronic integrity of this model. The steering wheel locks briefly when the Idle Stop and Go (ISG) system restarts the vehicle. This happens intermittently, about 50% of the time. It has affected the ability to steer the vehicle properly when turning at a traffic light after the ISG system has initiated an engine shutdown and subsequent restart. This issue has been reported to our local dealership, but the technicians were not able to reproduce the issue. We have also experienced a complete loss of electrical power in the vehicle with the ISG system a few times. Unfortunately, there is no way to permanently deactivate the ISG system; the auto stop button must be pressed every time the vehicle is used to deactivate it for that trip.

My vehicle has an issue with the anti lock braking system on uneven surfaces. On several occasions since buying the vehicle earlier this year, I've observed the issue of chattering or severe on-off reaction of the ABS to gradual braking onnuneven surfaces. I have not had the issue verified by a dealer yet, but plan to soon. The malfunction has extended stopping distances significantly. I have not noticed warning lights during or after the malfunction, likely because I'm focused on safely bringing the vehicle to a stop during the malfunction. My vehicle can be made available for inspection.

While sitting at a stop sign, I attempted to place my vehicle in Park. I opened the driver’s side door, but the car had not actually shifted into Park. None of the vehicle’s safety systems engaged when the door was opened. The car rolled forward with me partially outside the vehicle, dragging me until it struck a tree. This incident reflects a critical failure in the vehicle’s electrical/safety systems: •The transmission did not engage Park when selected. •The door-open rollaway prevention system did not activate. •The automatic front collision system failed to stop the vehicle. Because multiple electronic safeguards failed at the same time, this appears to be an electrical or computer system malfunction rather than driver error.

On [XXX] the engine light went on my 2023 Hyundai palisade SUV. Immediately I drove over the Hyundai dealership to try to find out what the problem was. On my way there, the light remained on, and the car kept making movements as if it was going to turn off, I could barely make the speed increase as I was driving. I went to Healey Hyundai located at 794 Route 52 Fishkill Ny 12524 phone number 845 831 1090 . In spite, the car light on and the issues they refused to attend the car and asked me to go back Monday morning, which I did , same issued on my way there, and I arrived there with the engine light on , service advisor Rasheena M Dyer , took the car, saw the light on, took pictures and asked me to wait for the mechanic to review the car. After two hours the service advisor, said “ there’s nothing we could do, or anything could do, the car is misfiring and anything could be causing the car to misfired, the mechanic don’t see the light right now, therefore, we can’t diagnose anything, but the car is misfiring “. I replied:” my car is under 50,000 miles and under manufacturer warranty, can you give me a rental, while you fixed the engine problem, I have 5 children , how can I drive around with my kids with an engine light on and the issues is giving me”, she replied: we won’t give you a rental because we don’t know what the problem is , ( although they know and said the car motor is misfiring )unless you pay $200 dollars . They sent me away with the engine light on, and the car making sounds and movements as if is going to go off anytime . Hyundai refused to help me although the engine lights are on and my car is still under warranty. I took the car that same day to Monro auto service at 64 north plank road ,Newburgh Ny 12550, and the checked the car and confirmed that there’s nothing wrong with the oil, or filters as the dealership try to implied , is an engine-firing problem that again, Hyundai dealership refuses to fix. I recently purchased a Hyundai vehicle and discovered that the previous owner still has full access to the vehicle’s Bluelink system. This includes remote start/stop, vehicle tracking, horn/lights, and other controls. Despite contacting Hyundai support and proving ownership, they still have not revoked or disabled this access. I am unable to override or reset the system myself. This poses a serious safety concern, because an unauthorized individual can: •Remotely disable the vehicle while in motion or parked, •Track my exact real-time location, or •Manipulate vehicle functions without my knowledge or consent. This is not a one-off issue. Hyundai has no effective system in place to guarantee owner control or revoke prior access, which leaves other buyers vulnerable too. This constitutes a design flaw in connected vehicle control systems, not just an isolated customer service problem.

The ABS braking problem has not been mentioned to Hyundai or any other company or organization to date as it was just recently experienced. I recently put unscreened millings on the road end of my gravel driveway. When coming to a slow stop before entering the public road I now experience the brake vibration or chattering with deminished braking responce. Fortunately, I have not experienced this while driving on a public road in 35,000 miles.

My 2023 Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy which I bought in July 2023 failed to start in May 2024 inside my house garage. It had an error message of "Check ESC" where ESC stands for electronic stability control. After trying a couple of more times to start it, it completely died. Had it tow to the dealer and after a few days in the dealer, they told me it was a dead battery. The car went from no warnings at all to completely being dead inside my garage. No explanation of why the battery did not warn of any issues or why a "check ESC" warning code was displayed instead of displaying a "low battery" code. A search in the internet shows an unbelievable amount of accounts of these Hyundai Palisades suddenly causing the car to die and an "check ESC" code showing immediately after the car dies down. There has to be issues with these cars bacause this issue seems to be happening very often.

I have lost all confidence in this vehicle and my family, and I are scared to drive in (especially my 5 year old daughter). The mechanical failures that were experienced during these events were intense and life risking. During the first incident the vehicle brakes engaged while driving and caused the vehicle to stall in the middle of an intersection while turning left to enter highway, numerous vehicles were traveling in opposite direction and could have resulted in head on collision. No systems worked during this event, neither the horn nor the headlights worked to signal other vehicles of problem. Had to slam on the gas, which led to violent vehicle take off, that jolted my daughter around in her car seat and narrowly avoided collision with other vehicles. That was on [XXX], and similar events happened on [XXX] and [XXX]. Video and pictures of event were taken as they occurred on [XXX] event. Claim (Case#: XXX) was opened with Hyundai Consumer Affairs on [XXX]. All videos and pictures were shared on multiple occasions with Hyundai Team. Hyundai refused to repurchase the vehicle under Lemon Law provisions and cited that the issue didn’t start until the [XXX] event, which exceeds the 12-month statute. However, the issues started in Aug of 2023 and the dealer service records clearly document this. Hyundai insists that since they could not replicate the issue it didn’t start until Feb 1, when they were able to replicate. I don’t agree with this view and should not be penalized because of Hyundai’s technical limitations. Furthermore, they were perfectly fine with using my family as Guinee Pigs as they instructed me to continue driving the car and bring it when it happened again. Completely dismissing the gravity and potential consequences of the events, as described above, that took place on [XXX]. This vehicle has proven to have major malfunctions and should be removed from circulation immediately. I bought a 2023 hyundai palisade calligraphy and I found out the seat controls do not work and the air condition doesn’t work but they were fixed but the most important thing is the BLUE LINK BUTTON WHERE THE REAR VIEW MIRROR IS inside the car that I need in case of an emergency doesn’t work at all and doesn’t connect to hyundai blue link . I called hyundai manufacturer and I called hyundai blue link several times and their stupid engineers couldn’t fix the problem and I went to the dealership and their service dept and they couldn’t fix the issue . This is a brand new car that the blue link inside it doesn’t work at all and I paid for 3 years service .i push the blue link butto then it connects then it ends with no ring tone and no one on the other side . It keeps disconnecting and fails to connect me to blue link . This is a major defect in the hyundai palisade calligraphy and needs to be addressed seriously and professionally by hyundai and get it fixed immediately. I am attaching photos and videos and on my car screen it shown that blue link ended on 12/31/2023 but that is wrong because I have blue link until 1/26/2026 three more years but my car screen has it as expired on 12/31/2023 and that is wrong

On three separate occasions while driving the car has shut off while driving. The car and dashboard completely shut off, as well as the radio. This is while driving! The car was in drive and then just shut off with no warning or indication. I've taken the car to be seen by a Hyundai Mechanic and the car had a starter replacement. Yet, the issue has continued. This has put my safety and the safety of others at risk as the car cuts off mid-traffic. I am no longer able to brake or accelerate. The check-ESC message comes up when attempting to restart, but there is no warning or indication that comes on before the vehicle completely shuts down. I feel extremely unsafe. The dealership says it is hard to see codes because this happens mid-drive. Multiple Hyundai Owners, specifically 2023 Palisade Model owners have posted and reported this issue to corporate.
