Urgent Safety Concern – 2023 Honda CR-V Hybrid Engine Defect: I am writing to report a serious safety concern involving my 2023 Honda CR-V Hybrid related to a manufacturer defect that has not been properly resolved. My vehicle experienced an issue where engine oil leaked into the engine and spark plugs due to a defect. As a result, I received a critical dashboard warning instructing me to “stop vehicle immediately.” This created a dangerous situation and placed me at risk while driving. Although the issue was later identified as a manufacturer defect, it was not properly addressed when I initially reported engine shaking concerns in 2025. The problem escalated over time and ultimately led to this failure.Despite attempts to repair the vehicle, I continue to experience engine-related issues, including ongoing shaking. I have made multiple efforts to resolve this through the dealership and American Honda, but my concerns have not been adequately addressed. This vehicle is my only means of transportation, and the unresolved defect presents a continued safety risk not only to me but potentially to other drivers. I am concerned that similar issues may be affecting other 2023 Honda CR-V Hybrid vehicles. I am requesting assistance in reviewing this matter as a potential safety issue and ensuring appropriate accountability and resolution.

When turning on a curve the steering locks up/sticks for about 2 or 3 seconds and then it unlocks. When it locks up I could unlock it by using a bit of force to unlock/unstick it before it does by itself. I took to dealer and they say I need the whole steering rack. I have done research on this issue and I saw lots of 2023 crv owners are reporting the same issues. There is a recall to replace steering spring and to lubricate. But this recall issue is affecting cr-v whole rack and it should be in the recall. Honda did not make the steering properly and its causing many steering issues. There should be a recall on all steering issues. I currently have to drive my car with this issue because I don't have $4k for a new rack which is what they told me at dealer it cost. My crv is less than 2 years old and I should not be experiencing a issue like this and operating this vehicle which is not safe because Honda did not manufacture steering components correctly.

As I'm turning at curve the steering locks up and sticks and I have to use a both hands to stay in my lane. You can easily hit a car turning the curve next to you when the steering locks up. I took it to dealer and they knew about having these issues from other CR-V and they said it's the steering rack. pinion. No lights or warning turn on when this happens. Other honda owners on reddit were having the same issues. It's where I found out I can put a complaint so this issue can be reviewed.

Subject: Complaint Regarding Failure to Perform Recall Repair on Honda CR-V Hybrid Issue Description: On [XXX], I purchased a Honda CR-V Hybrid on credit from a dealership in Weston, Florida. In November 2024, I was informed that my vehicle was included in a Honda recall campaign due to a defect affecting its safe operation. I repeatedly contacted the dealership where I purchased the vehicle, but they informed me that the necessary replacement parts were not available. They promised to call me once the parts arrived, but from November 2024 to March 2025 (more than 4 months), I have not been given the opportunity to schedule the repair. As of today, the dealership has failed to take any action to remedy the defect, which violates my rights and poses a safety risk to the operation of my vehicle. Request for Action: I request that the NHTSA: Investigate this matter and require the dealership to perform the necessary repairs within a reasonable timeframe. Clarify my rights in this situation, including whether I am entitled to a vehicle replacement or a loaner car while waiting for the repair. I urge you to take action, as operating a vehicle with defective parts may present a safety hazard. I am concerned because Honda has notified me of two potential recalls on my vehicle, but I have not been able to have my car inspected to determine if it's affected. Additionally, the parts needed for the recall repairs are unavailable. I was informed several months ago, but there has been no clear timeline for when the parts will be available or when my car can be checked.

My car steering well gets randomly stuck for seconds at a time, Honda has failed to comply and help us get the steering wheel recall done since October 2024 and now February 2025. They keep saying we are on the list and they will send us a letter home or to keep waiting 12-15 days but there is no real help from Honda.

Noisy rough ride that was attributed to uneven tire wear on all 4 tires, called "cupping". Safety: Online research of major tire brands and NHTSA state that continuing to drive on cupped tires can be hazardous due to lost of traction, especially in emergency situation. The dealer, a private mechanic and a tire outlet all confirmed that the tires have uneven wear called "cupping". The dealer's service manager and mechanic foreman and a private mechanic all inspected the tires and confirmed the uneven wear. The first symptom was a wump-wump noise and vibration when driving slow, slowing down or making a turn. Problem first appeared around 11,000 miles. Now the problem appears worse. In that the initial noise and vibration is worse and now there is a chattering sound and vibration in highway drive. Plus an occasional "shimmy sensation" when a bump or rough patch in the road is gone over. New development. Since the onset of this problem. Honda has come out with a recall notice regarding an issue with their steering gearbox worm wheel for the car model involved. A Technical service bulletin was issued on the steering problem, with a note that this problem can lead to uneven tire wear. Despite this warning, the service manager for the dealer is insisting that it is safe to drive on cupped tires. I have since taken my car into the dealer to have the recall issue addressed. But again the service manager is insisting that driving on cupped tires is safe. I think this is a potentially danger situation where customers are being told by the Honda dealer that it is safe to continue to drive on cupped tires. I think that the NHTSA needs to require Honda corporation to order all Honda dealers to cover any uneven tire wear from the faulty steering gearbox defect. I just ordered a set of new tires for my safety at a cost of about $1000. Please help.

Hi, I have received 2 safety recall notices against my Honda 2023 CR-V on 3rd October & 14th October. One was for the Steering gearbox worm wheel & Other was for the improper production of the high pressure fuel pump. Since then I have visited & contacted Honda Carland Roswell numerous times but everytime I get the answer the parts are not available. It's been 2 months & they can't guarantee the availability also. When pressed further their only response is contact Honda. Is there any regulations where once the safety recall is issued it should be completed immediately. Being a regulator NHTSA should look into my complaint. Regards [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Available for inspection. The automatic braking is malfunctioning, we turned off the crash detention breaking as the CR-V would suddenly break without notice. Despite this being turned off, the vehicle will still break. It often happens when driving any speed over 25 mph. No vehicles in front or the side and the vehicle will simply break. No warning lights will appear (unlike with the crash detection turned on). It comes in suddenly and goes away suddenly. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Mostly the risk of being rear ended. Fortunately no one has been immediately behind us. If there was, we would be in many accidents. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? No, it cannot be reproduced. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? No, we are taking it in to have it looked at again for this issue. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No warning lights, messages, or other symptoms. It only happens (so far) when the vehicle is on cruise control. It will I just break for no reason. The normal dinging sound you hear when it trying to prevent a crash also doesn’t appear or sound. It just breaks.

How to use these: a complaint is one owner’s report, filed voluntarily and published unverified. Patterns matter more than any single story.
