RE: SAFETY COMPLAINT FOLLOWING RECALL 68C (NHTSA Recall Number 24V-111 / Mopar 68C) I am the owner of a 2022 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 4xe. Prior to having safety recall 68C performed, the hybrid system functioned flawlessly. Immediately upon receiving the vehicle back from the dealership after the 68C software flash, a severe drivability and safety hazard emerged. When driving in standard Hybrid/Electric mode, the vehicle experiences a sudden loss of power, hesitation, and a physical 'bogging down' sensation. Following this lag, the vehicle violently surges into gasoline mode, causing a sudden and unpredictable acceleration lurch after the vehicle hesitates to accelerate. This behavior occurs randomly at both low neighborhood speeds and highway speeds, making it impossible to smoothly modulate throttle input. This creates an immediate safety hazard when attempting to pull out into cross-traffic, merge onto highways, or maintain a safe, predictable following distance. The vehicle hesitates when throttle is demanded, creating a risk of being rear-ended, followed by an uncommanded surge. The dealership states the vehicle is 'operating as designed' according to a regional Jeep field engineer, implying this dangerous lag-and-surge behavior was intentionally introduced into the vehicle's management software by the manufacturer to mitigate, the recall notice noted above, battery thermal risks at the expense of occupant driving safety. The manufacturer’s recall remedy has traded a fire risk for an active moving traffic hazard." Several forums and AI searches show this is a common problem the manufacturer has created to avoid a costly recall by addressing the real issue with the battery’s fire risk. Instead they have intentionally reduce the battery’s performance causing a safety issue with the vehicle’s acceleration and operation.

After the latest 68C recall fix, Jeep has adjusted the behavior of how the vehicle's electric mode operates. When the battery gets to a certain temperature when driving, the engine is supposed to turn on (to prevent the fire risk hazard). However, instead of the vehicle making the powertrain switch, the vehicle power will just stop. The pedal will go to the floor but no forward movement. It is dangerous in many driving situations, like the highway or among other vehicles when mine unexpectedly stops. Jeep has tried to fix this exact issue in 3 separate recalls, but it still occurs. They should buy back the vehicles as they seem to not be able to fix and they are not safe to drive.

I was driving 70-75 mph on interstate XXX going south from [XXX] to [XXX] after picking up my friends. I had e-save mode on to save the battery for later and out of nowhere the car lost all power and would not accelerate. Some writing flashed across the screen telling me to pull over in the emergency lane and stop and then restart the Jeep in hybrid mode. I had to throw on my hazards and pray someone who wasn't paying attention didn't hit me while I was no longer accelerating and trying to change lanes to get into the emergency lane. One in the emergency lane I was able to shut off the Jeep and restart it but e-save mode was no longer available. I was able to resume driving but only in Hybrid mode. The issues lies in the Hybrid systems electric only function. When climbing grades, the vehicle experiences severe power loss which can be felt by the driver and is displayed by the vehicle on the dashboard information cluster. Power output from the hybrid system drops to or below 50% output even when pressing the accelerator to maximum. This issue occurs almost every time climbing a steep grade regardless of exterior temps. After losing speed and power on a steep grade while working the accelerator to or near maximum application the engine is activated abruptly without warning and without the proper hybrid warm up sequence and causes startling shifting by the powertrain and jerks the vehicle. This behavior began after Recall 68C was performed and hybrid Battery replacement.

Additionally, the transmission was extremely low on transmission fluid, and the differential was leaking oil. The contact stated that after the recall repair was completed, the previous failures worsened. The dealer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. While driving under normal conditions, the vehicle suddenly became unstable and difficult to control. Steering response was abnormal, and the vehicle did not behave as expected, creating a loss of stability and control. The incident occurred without warning and required the vehicle to be towed. This event raised serious safety concerns, as the vehicle appeared prone to instability and unsafe operation. The vehicle has a history of repeated mechanical and safety-related issues that were previously addressed through warranty service but not resolved. Despite prior repairs, the unsafe condition persisted and culminated in this incident. The manufacturer was notified of the ongoing defects and safety concerns but did not provide corrective resolution beyond referring the vehicle back to dealership service.

The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that the transmission failed to properly engage. The contact was able to move the gear shift lever from park(P) to reverse(R), however, the transmission failed to respond as intended. The gear indicator flashed on the instrument panel. The contact turned off the vehicle and waited for several minutes before restarting the vehicle, and the transmission responded as needed. The contact stated that on other occasions, after the vehicle was stopped at a traffic light or stop sign, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended while depressing the accelerator pedal. The message “Service Transmission” was displayed on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to a transmission specialty shop, where it was diagnosed, and DTC: P0733 was retrieved. The contact was informed that the failure was with the third gear in the transmission. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure persisted. The vehicle was driven to the dealer to be diagnosed; however, the vehicle remained at the dealer. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact related the failure to Technical Service Bulletin: 21-009-25. The manufacturer suggested that the vehicle be taken to the dealer for an inspection, and depending on the findings, the manufacturer might assist with the cost of the repair. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000.

My Jeep Wrangler 4xe displayed a ‘Service Charging System’ warning immediately after unplugging from charging. I began to drive and noticed the warning right away. I then parked and attempted to restart the vehicle, but it would not start and became completely inoperable. The vehicle had to be towed. The dealer confirmed this issue is related to the current hybrid safety recall, but Stellantis has stated that no repair is available, and it may not be available until the end of the year or the first quarter of next year. The vehicle is undrivable, and I cannot safely use or move it. Stellantis is only offering reimbursement for a rental, which I cannot access because I cannot afford to pay for a rental vehicle upfront. Reimbursement for what could be an unlimited or months-long period of rental fees is not a reasonable or accessible remedy. This leaves me without any safe or practical transportation option. I have now been without transportation for over 48 hours, and the manufacturer is not providing a reasonable remedy or safe transportation while the recall repair remains unavailable. I am filing this complaint so NHTSA can document the delay, the lack of an accessible remedy, and the manufacturer’s failure to provide a safe, timely solution for an undrivable recall-affected vehicle. The vehicle is undrivable and I cannot safely park or use it. Stellantis is only offering reimbursement for a rental, which I cannot access because I cannot afford to rent a vehicle upfront. Over the last 45 days, my Jeep has suffered repeated breakdowns that required towing to the Jeep dealership—It is now the fourth tow in this short window for the same issue. On November 10th, I was informed it was a wiring harness issue. On November 17th, they completed the work with the wiring harness and mentioned that now shifter assembly now has internal failure. Respectfully, this situation is unacceptable. Particularly for a critical component that renders the vehicle inoperable and raises significant safety concerns. This issue is especially troubling given that I have young children and rely on this vehicle for our daily transportation, and has stopped me in the middle of the road multiple times. Timeline: October 7th, 2025: Service Electronic Stability Control signal - Vehicle disabled on road; Towed to my home October 8th, 2025: Second Service Electronic Stability Control signal- Vehicle is again inoperable - Towed to Jeep Dealer October 9th, 2025: Third Service Electronic Stability Control signal pops up and disappears. October 15th, 2025: Fourth Service Electronic Stability Control signal - Vehicle is again inoperable - Towed to Jeep Dealership November 8th, 2025: Fifth Service Electronic Stability Control signal - Vehicle picked up by Jeep Dealership November 17th 2025: Notified by the service advisor that Service Shifter came on after completing work with the wiring harness. This is a huge safety concern that needs immediate investigation, and the manufacture needs to be help liable for these rescue ring issues.

Car shut down on [XXX] and would not start. Indicated problem with charging system. Vehicle is currently in Cabo San Lucas, BCS, Mexico. Towed car to local Jeep dealer. Car had outstanding recall (ZB7 2021-2023 JL 4XE Loss of Motive Power). Dealer diagnosed issues as a failure of the battery, so that was replaced, along with software updates to address the recalls. We had to pay over $900 out of pocket for these repairs, and it stayed with the dealer for 3.5 weeks. Two days later the vehicle is again failing with the same issues and will not start. It began with the check engine light coming on, then A/C stopped cooling, then the car only would stay in hybrid mode, and the transmission was revving. The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that on three separate occasions while driving at various speeds, the vehicle jerked upon depression of the accelerator pedal with a message to "Service Transmission Continue in D - Do Not Shift or Turn Engine Off" was displayed on the instrument panel. On the first failure, the contact was able to drive the vehicle to Galeana Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram (14375 S Tamiami Trl, Fort Myers, FL 33912); however, the contact was informed that the dealer would not honor warranty. The vehicle was taken to another dealer and the body control module was replaced. The failure returned months later while the contact was out of town and the vehicle was towed cross country on the contact's trailer back to the dealer. The contact was informed on the visit that the transmission control module was defective and the TCM was replaced; however, the failure returned months later. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it remained. The dealer reached out to the manufacturer while the contact waited for a decision from the manufacturer. The vehicle was not yet repaired and remained with the dealer. The failure mileage was 2,132.

The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while stopped at a traffic light, the accelerator pedal was depressed, and the vehicle hesitated and failed to respond as needed. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer who diagnosed that a transmission cable needed to be replaced. The transmission cable was replaced; however, the failure became progressively worse. The vehicle was taken several times to the dealer however, no cause for the failure was found. The contact stated that several unknown parts were replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 600.

Talk to the JEEP corporate office and they said there’s a number of technical service bulletins on this issue, but there’s not been enough to calls a recall, but they did state. It was a known issue. The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced the Death Wobble while driving on two occasions. The contact also stated that the vehicle was difficult to start and would start after being jump-started. Additionally, the contact stated that there was an abnormal burning plastic odor coming from the clutch intermittently while driving and shifting into gear. The contact stated that while driving 40-45 MPH, the vehicle stalled. The message "Stop Safely - Vehicle will shut down in 30 Seconds" was displayed. The contact stated that while attempting to pull over to the side of the road, the vehicle hit the guard rail on the side of the road and bounced back, causing the rear end of the vehicle to land on the right lane of the highway while the front end was on the side of the road. The contact was able to push the entire vehicle to the side of the road with the assistance of other drivers. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and assisted the contact in towing the vehicle to a parking lot. The vehicle was jump-started; however, the failure recurred while the contact was driving the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where the battery and the auxiliary fuse were replaced; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed. The dealer then informed the contact that the vehicle had been repaired. The contact then inquired that the dealer perform the recall repair of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V116000 (Power Train); however, the dealer informed the contact that the part had been ordered and would be available in two months. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 34,000.

I brought my jeep in for the 95B recall this past December (12/17/24), it was fixed for about a week then problems with the electric system emerged and the vehicle would not run in electric mode. I also received messages saying that an oil change was required (despite having an oil change done in December), and that the battery needed to be charged for maintenance (despite the battery being fully charged the previous evening). I brought it back to dealer (2/3/25) to fix the issue. They said they fixed it and gave it back to me. A few days later the same problems reappeared so I brought it back on 2/22/25 and just received word that they cannot find a solution to the problems despite working with tech advisors from other dealerships and Stellantis. In short, I have had the same issues with the vehicle since about November, they have attempted to fix it 3 times and now are telling me that they do not have a fix for the problems. Please help!

This vehicle has been towed to the dealership 4 times for ongoing transmission errors and has caused the vehicle to shut off in traffic on 3 separate occasions, putting myself and those around me in immediate danger. The vehicle has actually rolled backwards in traffic on 1 occasion, without giving me the ability to stop it initially because the brakes and gear shift were locked up. The vehicle has also been repaired for a multicylinder engine failure early on as well. The vehicle is now showing issues with the battery wiring and has been repaired several times regarding this as well.

Cranked up Jeep and had no warning lights. Pulled onto highway, Electronic Stability Control alarm sounded. Made it to stop light, stopped, Jeep did not cut off but showed an alarm where it would not move until it was put in park then back in drive. This happened 4 times then stopped. I turned off of the highway onto a different road, got up to speed (approx 60mph) the ESC warning came back on and went off. Jeep did not cut off but it jerked a few times then the RPMs shot up to around 9 without me pressing the gas. I was able to pull over, cut it off and sit for a min. then I cranked it back up and it ran fine for about 5 miles then going about 60mph it lunged forward with no speed increase, RPMs shot up again and a Transmission code came up on the dash screen. I pulled over, my husband came and we put it on a trailer and carried it home. Ran diagnostics and changed both the main and auxiliary battery and it was fine for about a month. I went to run errands about a month later, got in and all the electrical would come on but it would not crank and all the gears on the shifter showed in orange and blinked instead of orange and white like normal. The electrical would not cut off without unhooking both batteries. Tested batteries, auxiliary was completely dead. Replaced it, Jeep still would not crank and the electrical stayed on unless the batteries were disconnected. Trailered it to the dealership, they did multiple tests to find out it was the TCM. First Incident occured 12/18/24, second incident occurred 1/17/24.

My Jeep began experiencing a death wobble going about 65 mph . When driving at 65 mph and went over a bump on the roadway my vehicle’s steering and suspension began shaking violently and almost caused an accident. Anytime the vehicle was cranked up the throttle was elevated and stayed elevated till for 10 mins and you can not drive for 20 mins because the throttle would stick wide open and unable to lower . The exhaust has a backfire upon acceleration as well. The exhaust system is ran underneath the gas tank which I believe is a hazard . There is a ticking and knocking noise in the engine as well.

3 months after purchase. I Driving on highway 70mph, pressed clutch peddle as I was exiting and slowing down. clutch literally combusted (and fly wheel). Jeep was smoking and smelled like fire. Coasted to side of road and rolled into gas station: car wasn’t operable and had to be towed. Thankfully not a lot of traffic as this was a very UNSAFE SITUATION FOR MYSELF AND MY DAUGHTER! Clutch and flywheel were replaced by dealer after a few weeks. No warning lights. I’ve since had TWO CLUTCHES RELACED. A TOTAL OF THREE! I have contacted chysler (denied my claim) and filed a complaint with the AG. I do NOT feel safe driving this vehicle, I have major anxiety when I am driving in Traffic because I get wanting to release the clutch peddle due to overheating. The jeep sits in the driveway whenever possible due to safety concerns. And I’m PAYING MONTHLY PAYMENTS. It’s frustrated and EXTREMELY UNSAFE!

I have a 2022 Wrangler 4xe. This weekend I rear ended a car in stop and go traffic. When I used the brake it actually felt like the car jumped forward a bit. I had to stomp on the brake pedal again as if my first attempt had no grab. More details...I was in hybrid mode with <1% battery status and max regen was on. I was going less than 10 miles an hour. Jeep has a max regeneration function that uses the engine to generate an EV battery recharge. I understand that the max regen sort of turns off when you are rolling at really low speeds, but it seems the transition to/from this is rough on the transmission or something. This only happens at low speeds (in parking lots, etc) This behavior happens intermittently but, this is the first time I was not able to stop completely before an impact occured.

Upon purchase of the Jeep, within 8K miles, the fuel pump went out and left me stranded. Now, at 27k miles, the car has been undriveable for 4 months. The engine will not accelerate, causing near collisions on highways. Over 13k in repairs are currently in place and there is still no resolution.

There was a prior recall where if there was discoloring or charring of the battery terminal a new battery was suppose to be installed. I reported this and showed the damage, and they just cleaned the terminals and sent me down the road. Now that these are burning houses down I would like to get out of this lease, its almost up anyway.
