RE: SAFETY COMPLAINT FOLLOWING RECALL 68C (NHTSA Recall Number 24V-111 / Mopar 68C) I am the owner of a 2022 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 4xe. Prior to having safety recall 68C performed, the hybrid system functioned flawlessly. Immediately upon receiving the vehicle back from the dealership after the 68C software flash, a severe drivability and safety hazard emerged. When driving in standard Hybrid/Electric mode, the vehicle experiences a sudden loss of power, hesitation, and a physical 'bogging down' sensation. Following this lag, the vehicle violently surges into gasoline mode, causing a sudden and unpredictable acceleration lurch after the vehicle hesitates to accelerate. This behavior occurs randomly at both low neighborhood speeds and highway speeds, making it impossible to smoothly modulate throttle input. This creates an immediate safety hazard when attempting to pull out into cross-traffic, merge onto highways, or maintain a safe, predictable following distance. The vehicle hesitates when throttle is demanded, creating a risk of being rear-ended, followed by an uncommanded surge. The dealership states the vehicle is 'operating as designed' according to a regional Jeep field engineer, implying this dangerous lag-and-surge behavior was intentionally introduced into the vehicle's management software by the manufacturer to mitigate, the recall notice noted above, battery thermal risks at the expense of occupant driving safety. The manufacturer’s recall remedy has traded a fire risk for an active moving traffic hazard." Several forums and AI searches show this is a common problem the manufacturer has created to avoid a costly recall by addressing the real issue with the battery’s fire risk. Instead they have intentionally reduce the battery’s performance causing a safety issue with the vehicle’s acceleration and operation.

When driving down the road my jeep goes into an uncomfortable death wobble. It has already been to a dealer to fix this once but it isn’t . There is a weld defect in the driver side front and passenger door frame . When the electronics get hot from the summer heat they black out . The digital display is not calibrated to the odometer of the vehicle . The Jeep surges violently and almost caused a collision.

After the latest 68C recall fix, Jeep has adjusted the behavior of how the vehicle's electric mode operates. When the battery gets to a certain temperature when driving, the engine is supposed to turn on (to prevent the fire risk hazard). However, instead of the vehicle making the powertrain switch, the vehicle power will just stop. The pedal will go to the floor but no forward movement. It is dangerous in many driving situations, like the highway or among other vehicles when mine unexpectedly stops. Jeep has tried to fix this exact issue in 3 separate recalls, but it still occurs. They should buy back the vehicles as they seem to not be able to fix and they are not safe to drive.

My Jeep will not operate correctly in the electric mode after a software update that was required to resolve a recall. Multiple recalls on jeep 4xe starting with the hybrid system from charging to the battery. Ultimately not fixable per Stellantis. Now electrical components in steering that present possible fire hazard at anytime. Not to mention the fact that if it can cause a fire, then the steering could fail in some unexpected way while driving, leading/contributing to an accident with serious injury or death. These combined make the car generally unreliable, potentially unsafe, and increase depreciation.

While driving any speed most of the time slowing down "Performance limited service fuel system". Dealership looked at it 2 different times and said it was just the clamp of some sort..took it on again and they said it could be the high pressure fuel system. Nothing has been replaced as they do not know what is going on. The message pops up randomly and goes away very quickly. This Jeep currently have just over 19,000 for a 2022 model When we first noticed the message it had just over 12000 miles

The issues lies in the Hybrid systems electric only function. When climbing grades, the vehicle experiences severe power loss which can be felt by the driver and is displayed by the vehicle on the dashboard information cluster. Power output from the hybrid system drops to or below 50% output even when pressing the accelerator to maximum. This issue occurs almost every time climbing a steep grade regardless of exterior temps. After losing speed and power on a steep grade while working the accelerator to or near maximum application the engine is activated abruptly without warning and without the proper hybrid warm up sequence and causes startling shifting by the powertrain and jerks the vehicle. This behavior began after Recall 68C was performed and hybrid Battery replacement.

My 2022 Jeep Wrangler has an ongoing issue involving an oil and diesel leak, which creates a hazardous driving condition and poses a fire and safety risk. The vehicle has been taken in for repair multiple times (4 repair attempts) for the same issue, and the problem remains unresolved. Due to the severity of the leak, the vehicle is unsafe to operate and requires towing to the dealership. Despite repeated repair attempts, the manufacturer has failed to provide a permanent fix and has denied further assistance based on procedural reasons (vehicle not currently at dealership, mileage, and warranty concerns). I am concerned this is a broader safety defect that could affect other vehicles.

My 2022 Jeep Wrangler 4xe experienced a sudden loss of power while driving on Interstate 285 in Atlanta during rush hour traffic. The vehicle began shaking and lunging forward unpredictably while I attempted to exit the highway. With hazard lights on, I slowly crept the vehicle to the dealership because it could barely move. The vehicle is currently at the dealership for Recall 68C related to the hybrid battery system. This incident created a dangerous situation on a major interstate and could have caused a serious accident.

On 3/3/2026, I brought me JEEP 4XE to the Jeep dealership in Paris, Kentucky to have the 68C recall performed. The Jeep dealership used version #7 of the 68C recall instructions to updated all software modules and then to perform a 7 mile test run to engage the electric engine and to stress the vehicle per the instructions documented in the recall instructions. Document is identified as: * High Voltage Battery * Reference: 68C/NHTSA 25V-741 * Revision: 7 * Edition: February 2026 * Details: Additional DTC added to the end of Section B. BPCM software update After picking vehicle up from dealership, I proceeded home via a state highway Route 68 (Paris Pike). The roadway is a 4 lane divided highway and has a speed limit of 55mph. I set my vehicle to HYBRID mode and then placed it on cruise control as I had done numerous times over its 25,000 miles. During the drive there were occasional rolling hills and inclines. I gauged the hills to be about a 1% grade on average but never exceeding 2% grade. During these inclines, the gasoline engine engaged and the RPM gauge on the instrument cluster registered 3000RPM. This excessive engine RPM had NEVER occurred before the 68C factory recall procedure. In all other instances of the engine engaging, the RPM would engage at 2000RPM. I contend that the the engagement of the gasoline engine on these small inclines was NOT warranted and that the excessive RPM's of 3000 is not normal and was never experienced prior to the 68C recall fix. I am submitting this information for review and documentation. Video of the instrument cluster gauge showing the RMP gauage and the display panel showing the engine and battery kW used were taken to document the process. I believe that the engagement of the gasoline engine at 3000RPM will cause excessive wear of the engine and is a direct result of one of the software updates that was used to complete the 68C recall.

The vehicle poses a fire risk not allowing the vehicle to be parked under structures and the vehicle cannot be charged even though it is a plug-in hybrid vehicle. There is an active recall and this is not the first one. The fix for the recall is a software update that can shut off the high voltage battery if an issue is encountered which leaves the vehicle in limp mode, which is dangerous when traveling on the highway. If a new battery is required, the same faulty style batteries are exchanged. Stellantis is not addressing the car issues appropriately

I have experienced at least five times in which my vehicle does not start and a "service charging system" error message shows on the dash resulting in the vehicle having to be towed to Newport Jeep in Middletown RI for service. Every recall that has been issue has been "fixed"- my hybrid battery has been replaced, my high voltage wire has been replaced. I tried to pursue a buyback request and was rejected in March 2025. I am aware of the 68C safety recall and that there is no repair at this time. Again on 12/9/25 my vehicle would not start, the "service charging system" error message was on the dash and my vehicle has had to be towed back to the dealership. They are not able to diagnose the issue. I want to pursue a buyback as this vehicle is defective and unsafe.

I received the recall of my leased vehicle and I immediately called Chrysler Stelantis and was told that there was nothing they could do. This recall materially restricts the safe use of my leased vehicle. I request early termination of my lease without penalty OR a replacement vehicle. I am a 100% disabled veteran and cannot comply with the recall’s conditions They stated that they will take back my lease but I will be penalized for the early termination and also for any recoupment of the vehicle when it goes to auction. This is unacceptable and has placed myself, my family,, my residence and other vehicles in danger. I cannot abide by the recall.

The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Wrangler. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V741000 (Electrical System); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The check engine warning light was intermittently illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, where a fault code related to the gas cap was cleared. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.

My Jeep Wrangler 4xe displayed a ‘Service Charging System’ warning immediately after unplugging from charging. I began to drive and noticed the warning right away. I then parked and attempted to restart the vehicle, but it would not start and became completely inoperable. The vehicle had to be towed. The dealer confirmed this issue is related to the current hybrid safety recall, but Stellantis has stated that no repair is available, and it may not be available until the end of the year or the first quarter of next year. The vehicle is undrivable, and I cannot safely use or move it. Stellantis is only offering reimbursement for a rental, which I cannot access because I cannot afford to pay for a rental vehicle upfront. Reimbursement for what could be an unlimited or months-long period of rental fees is not a reasonable or accessible remedy. This leaves me without any safe or practical transportation option. I have now been without transportation for over 48 hours, and the manufacturer is not providing a reasonable remedy or safe transportation while the recall repair remains unavailable. I am filing this complaint so NHTSA can document the delay, the lack of an accessible remedy, and the manufacturer’s failure to provide a safe, timely solution for an undrivable recall-affected vehicle. The vehicle is undrivable and I cannot safely park or use it. Stellantis is only offering reimbursement for a rental, which I cannot access because I cannot afford to rent a vehicle upfront. I own a 2022 Jeep Wrangler 4xe (VIN: XXX) subject to Recall 68C for the high-voltage battery. Jeep Customer Care advised me in writing not to charge the battery and not to park the vehicle inside or near structures, but could not define a safe distance or provide any specific measurable guidance. I live in a residential community where all parking is adjacent to homes, so these instructions are impossible to follow. FCA also stated they are unable to provide a loaner or alternative accommodation, even though their written guidance effectively removes the vehicle from normal home use. Additionally, FCA repeatedly instructed me to bring the vehicle to a dealership to determine if it is “unsafe to drive,” despite confirming that no remedy exists and that dealers have no diagnostic test or inspection procedure that can detect or reduce the risk of thermal runaway associated with this recall. The dealership cannot change the risk until a remedy is available. I am requesting NHTSA review FCA’s interim guidance for clarity and adequacy, as owners cannot comply with instructions that are vague, contradictory, and not operationally feasible in residential environments. While driving to an appointment on 11 August 2025 the yellow CEL light came on and the Jeep Wrangler 4xe stopped operating in hybrid mode. A few miles later the Jeep went into limp mode with a red turtle, red wrench, and red battery light. Pulled into the left center turn lane to allow faster traffic to pass and then made a left turn off of a busy 4-lane highway. I then proceeded down the hill and at the next traffic light I was turning right when the Jeep stopped and the gas engine completely shut down and the Jeep stopped moving halfway through the intersection. Putting the vehicle in park, I attempted to restart the vehicle while it sat in the middle of the intersection but it wouldn’t restart. I then turned on my flashers and exited the vehicle so I could call a tow truck. After the vehicle was towed to the nearest Jeep dealership I learned two days later that the hybrid battery pack had failed and it needed to be replaced. As of 18 September and the vehicle is still at the dealership awaiting authorization from the Jeep engineering team so the technician at the dealership can order a special part!

The vehicle experienced multiple serious fuel system failures, including a failed fuel injector and high-pressure fuel pump. After these components were replaced, it was confirmed that fuel was still entering the engine crankcase. At no point did the vehicle trigger a “Check Engine” light, oil dilution warning, low oil pressure alert, or any hybrid/electric powertrain. This represents a critical safety & reliability issue. Fuel dilution of engine oil can: severely degrade lubrication, increase crankcase pressure, and/or lead to internal engine failure or fire The lack of any warning or diagnostic code suggests either: a software calibration issue in the ECM/BCM that failed to detect the problem, a sensor failure, and/or a defect in the onboard diagnostic system itself. This could indicate a broader defect affecting the safety of the 4xe platform and request investigation. This failure delayed necessary service and put both vehicle and occupants at risk.

We have 2 2022 Jeep vehicles with the EcoDiesel engines in them (a Gladiator and Wrangler) that we purchased in 2022. I am filing a case for each of them on this site. In April 2023 there was a recall of the fuel pump on the 3.0 EcoDiesel and to date the problem has not been rectified for either of my vehicles. We have made notification to the dealership that we want to get this done but they say they do not have the parts in stock to do it. The dealership said they only get 1 fuel pump a month to replace and we are waiting and have been waiting for about a year since we notified the dealership for this safety issue to be rectified. I am filing this complaint as directed by the NHTSA website because I feel this issue has not been handled in a timely fashion and I believe that it is irresponsible of Jeep to not rectify this in a much quicker fashion. Each time we call the dealership we are told they do not know when it will be rectified.

While braking (in hybrid mode, with max regen braking on), the car begins to lurch forward with significant force as it comes to a stop. This seems to be an issue with max regen, as acceleration and braking is overall much smoother with the feature off. This has happened sometimes before, but is difficult to replicate on demand. No warning lights on dash, and has not been confirmed by a dealer. There were no warning lights or messages, and has happened since purchase of the vehicle in June 2022. This instance was so severe that the vehicle almost crashed into the house, as i was pulling into the driveway and braking. Upon researching online, others have reported this issue, with some involved in motor vehicle crashes because of it. Clearly a safety issue that requires attention.

Wife was going to work. Started to notice difference in the feel of the drive. Then the check engine light came on. When she started to accelerate the vehicle jerks. When the vehicle is at a stop then accelerates the it takes about 5 seconds for the car to start moving. Today the vehicle turns on but can’t switch gears to put it in reverse or drive. Vehicle is a paper wait and the earliest time I can take in to a certified mechanic is 1 month. I’ve had multiple issues with this car. Death wobble, electric recalls. And a recall that stated part not available park your car not in your garage and don’t charge your hybrid…. How can this car be allowed on the streets with this many issues under 2 years
