I am reporting a systemic safety fraud involving three critical points:1. INHERENT DEFECT & CRASH LINK: This vehicle has a pathological history of 6 transmission fluid changes starting from 308 miles and multiple alignment failures. There is strong suspicion of inherent defects in both the POWERTRAIN and REAR DRIVETRAIN/STEERING systems. These defects likely contributed to the previous owner's 5-side collision in May 2022. The record suggests a "Sudden Loss of Motive Power" and "Control Instability" risk existed from day one.2. RECALL MALPRACTICE (#23V-844): Despite the massive structural damage from the crash (bent hinges and frame misalignment), the dealer (Planet Honda) certified the fire-safety recall as complete in Dec 2024. Installing electrical recall parts on a compromised chassis violates federal safety standards and creates an unaddressed fire hazard.3. FRAUDULENT CPO RE-SALE: The dealer and manufacturer conspired to "launder" this known-accident vehicle back into the market via the CPO program, concealing the lethal combination of mechanical failure and structural instability from the next victim. The vehicle is currently mothballed due to these hazards. This matter is under active investigation by the (AID)Colorado Department of Revenue, Auto Industry Division (Case #[[XXX]). I petition NHTSA to audit the i-HDS diagnostic logs from the Dec 2024 recall to investigate this safety compliance fraud. Transmission failure without any warning while driving. Vehicle engine immediately shut down resulting in no power and loss of power steering. Vehicle came to a complete stop within seconds. Fortunately I was on a country road with no traffic. Had I been traveling on a highway I could have been rear ended and suffered major injuries! I had to push the vehicle to the side of the road since there was no power. There was a recall of the 2023 model for the exact same transmission issue that I experienced. There are Honda owners driving 2022 CRV models like mine who are unaware that their vehicle has a faulty transmission who could suffer serious injury. These owners need to be informed immediately!

I am getting increasing frequency of cylinder misfire, so far cylinder 1 and 2, and the car goes to a limb mode and loose power. It happens during acceleration to a highway ramp. Engine lights and other many warning lights come on, the car goes into limb mode, I pull over and when I turn the engine off and turns back on the warning lights clear and the car drives normally until next time, to start all over again. I took it two Honda dealers at three occasions. Since the engine light goes off, and they cannot capture the issue, they are telling me there is nothing they can do. It seems to happen during a normal driving than sport mode. It is frustrating and dangerous situation. I thought I would report it, to save others from similar situation

My car quickly became unable to be driven safely when the steering started to fail. It started with a feeling of the tires sticking to the road when trying to make small adjustments to position with the steering wheel. I was not able to maintain a straight line drive without the constant small jerks associated with the sticky feeling. The steering quickly deteriorated to the point of barely being able to keep the car on the road because of the inability to steer. The issue was confirmed by the dealer and the driveshaft components replaced, at my expense. I was told that there is a known defect in the 2022 CRV hybrids but my VIN was not included in the recall for some reason. There were no warning lamps or messages during the failure.

on [XXX] around 5 PM, when driving below 30 miles per hour within a residential community, automatic braking was activated without any obstruction in front of the vehicle, leading to sudden decrease in speed. Vehicle is in Baton Rouge, LA and all service/maintenance were done according to recommended schedule by Honda at the authorized dealership where the vehicle was purchased. Through online search, I found NHTSA opened an investigation for the same problem. If possible, I would appreciate an update about the status of NHTSA investigation and what action I should take. My 2022 Honda CR-V Hybrid began displaying multiple warning messages around February 2025: “Transmission System Problem,” “Blind Spot Info System Problem,” and “Emission System Problem.” The issue was eventually traced to incorrect transmission fluid used from the time of purchase. A diagnostic report confirmed widespread internal transmission damage (e.g., shift solenoids stuck, low fluid pressure, excessive clutch slippage). As the transmission failed, it overwhelmed the vehicle’s main computer (PCM), causing a breakdown in the F-CAN network and disabling connected safety systems like the blind spot monitoring and emissions modules. The drivability of the vehicle deteriorated rapidly—gear shifting became rough and unpredictable. The car began struggling to accelerate above 40 mph, especially during inclines or highway merges. This posed a safety risk not only to me but also to passengers and other drivers due to reduced control and system failures. I rely on this vehicle for work and have since had to limit driving to local roads only, avoiding highways entirely. The issue was confirmed by an independent service center. Diagnostic reports and dashboard photos were submitted to the manufacturer, but they have not accepted responsibility. Their representative acknowledged the symptoms but insisted it was the selling dealer’s issue. Meanwhile, the transmission continued to degrade. I believe this defect originated at the manufacturing or pre-delivery stage. The wrong fluid caused irreversible internal damage that has now jeopardized the vehicle's powertrain and safety systems. Despite reports, photos, and repeated communication, the manufacturer has delayed action, and the vehicle is now outside the powertrain warranty mileage due to this delay.

As I was backing out of a driveway the car suddenly accelerated in reverse. The brake did not stop or slow the vehicle. As a result the car's right fender hit a large oak tree. There was damage to the fender, the door and to the undercarriage. In addition, my wife who was sitting in the passenger seat was thrown back and she struck her head on the top seat belt connection. She had a cut in the back of her head that required an emergency room visit to the local hiospital. They did a CAT scan and they used seven staples close the wound. There were several messages flashed on the dash that indicated brake and cruise control issues. These messages wer of very short duration and could not be recazlled.

While driving at highway speeds (60-70 MPH), vehicle showed blinking check engine light, indicating a misfire. Pressing the gas pedal did not provide power to the wheels, though the engine was still running and revved up. My safety and that of those around me was in danger due to my inability to continue to maintain speed. I had to coast while pulling over to the side of a freeway. I turned the car off and turned it on and the issue appeared to resolve itself with no light on the dash. Took the vehicle to an independent service center, who would not look at the vehicle since the error code would not show from a cleared code. Told me to hope it was a 1 time issue and to stop back by with the light blinking. However, this will not be possible since I get no acceleration when the issue persists. The issue has not been reproduced, nor do I intend to attempt to reproduce it due to the safety issues involved with losing the ability to accelerate while traveling at high speeds on the freeway.

life Safety Issue! Four times since Feb. 2025 the check engine light comes on and the car loses power and goes into limp mode. The car has been to the Honda Mall of Georgia service department 3 times, and they are unable to determine the problem because no error codes are ever found. On 4-24-2025 they recommended a valve adjustment as a possible fix which I agreed to and paid for. The car did run better, however on 5-21-2025 the car stalled while I was going 70 mph on an interstate hwy. while I was in the middle lane. I was able to coast to the shoulder, shut the car off and then restart. Not knowing when or where the car will stall while driving is a major safety issue!

There have been several times where my forward collision warning goes off when I am just driving along an open highway with no other vehicles nearby and no precipitation. In broad daylight. Another time, a car in front of me slammed on their brakes. There wasn't enough time for me to come to a complete stop, so I navigated my car to the shoulder (I was only going about 30 mph to begin with). However, while I was turning the steering wheel, the Automatic Emergency Braking system engaged, making it impossible for me to turn the steering wheel further. I missed the car in front of me by only and inch or two. If I would have hit that car, it would have been because the AEB system locked up my steering wheel and made it impossible to control my vehicle.

Steering will stick when turning and require additional force to correct. This is a safety hazard as steering could become stuck or result in overcorrection and leading to an accident.

Hi, I've owned this vehicle brand new, 21 miles. I purchased from the dealership. It now has a blown head gasket at 85 k miles. I've spoken to 3 dealerships that have said this is a common problem. I obviously do a lot of driving early morning and late night. This could have been a big safety issue in the dark. I've done all my services on time and even earlier than needed. I hope you can do research on this. Thank You, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

It happened twice so far, while driving on the Highway, suddenly the car would no longer respond to the accelerator pedal and the car started losing speed meanwhile the warning lights flashes on the dashboard., In a panic we had to cruise to park on the highways shoulder. shut the car off thinking the car may have overheated or something, then restarted the engine and the dashboard was very normal, we proceeded to drive cautiously to mechanic, the mechanic found no error code to lead him to any diagnoses. The car drives normally after each incident. we are very concerned that this event could happen in critical situation and cause accident or the faulty component may causing this issue may lead to other more serious power train trouble that will not be covered by warranty in the future. by searching online, we found too many owners have had the same experience but we solution was offered by Honda. We urge you to investigate and help owners to be safe on the roads.

I was on the highway going approximately 65mph for 10 minutes when my engine light turned on and began blinking. Immediately when it turned on I lost the ability to accelerate and had to go across 3 lanes of extremely busy and fast traffic to pull over onto the shoulder. Once I was on the shoulder, I shut my car off for 2 minutes and restarted it and the car worked as normal again. The initial incident occurred on October 4th, 2024, and it has happened again on November 29th, 2024. I do have an image of the engine light on that was taken on October 4th if that would be helpful at all. I've looked online to find out that other Honda CR-V Hybrid owners have had this issue with no fix provided from Honda at all. Their advice is to leave the car running and get it towed to a Honda dealership immediately, which can be extremely expensive depending on your distance to a dealership and sometimes not feasible if I'm on my way to my job and cannot call out "sick". I feel as though this is irresponsible of the dealership to put the onus on consumers, and is clearly a recall waiting to happen that they just haven't admitted to yet.

I live in a rural area about 10 miles south of Albany NY. I am retired and am not employed, so most of my driving is done in the daytime. However, last November I was driving home in the dark from a medical appointment. I encountered heavy wet snow as I left a suburban area (Glenmont, NY) where there are street lights on the main highway, [XXX]. My headlights were on and I could see fine UNTIL I left Glenmont, and entered my home area Selkirk, NY. I was still on [XXX], but Selkirk at this point only has street lights at main intersections. The snow had become wet and heavy and it was difficult to see. I realized my headlights WERE NOT ON in this extremely slippery, heavy snow which now was coming down more heavily. [XXX] is a 2-lane NYS highway which eventually turns into a 4-lane highway again with limited street lighting. I drove about 5 miles with the only lighting I had from the pickup truck which was in front of me. There is no place to safely turn off on [XXX] once I am in Selkirk. When I reached my turnoff from [XXX] I was again on a 2 lane, unlit road to my home for approximately 2 miles. How I got home safely was short of a miracle. My car was only a year old at this point. Honda will do nothing about this. I paid short of $45,000 for this Honda CRV Touring model. I tell everyone I know NOT TO BUY A HONDA. The dealer doesn't stand behind their product nor does the company. This is the first and only Honda I have ever owned. I also had a problem with my car battery this year. The car at that point only had 9,000 miles on it. Four times I tried to pull out of my garage an my battery was dead. I had to call my husband to come home from where he was each time because I had important medical problems. I have [XXX] and [XXX] and each of my appts were related to one of these medical conditions. AAA was called 3 times and we were told we would exhaust our 4 road calls if we called them again. My husband went to the dealer with my car b INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I was driving on a straight road (daylight, dry conditions) in my 2022 Honda CR-V (mid trim level) using my adaptive cruise control. The closest cars ahead of me, and in the periphery, were at least three quarters of a mile away. All of a sudden, the car, independent of me, SLAMMED on the brakes. Fortunately, this did not cause an accident, but 10 minutes earlier, when I was on a crowded interstate during rush hour, the result might have been very different. As I reflect on this incident, I realize that this has happened at least twice before. However, in those cases, I thought the front sensor had picked up a curved barricade or something. But no! Apparently the CR-V randomly slams on the brakes. Clearly this is a dangerous situation that needs to be resolved. Ideally there will be a recall within the next few months to replace whatever component is causing this problem to happen.

How to use these: a complaint is one owner’s report, filed voluntarily and published unverified. Patterns matter more than any single story. If several owners describe the same failure at similar mileage, put that system at the top of your pre-purchase inspection list. Back to the full 2022 Honda CR-V Hybrid Hev verdict →
