Driving down a highway at 70 mph and a notification popped up saying to pull over and turn off the vehicle because the engine would shut down soon. I lost the ability to accelerate and impeded traffic. Had to pull over on the side of the road with minimal shoulder. This has happened dozens of times; all at high rates of speed and often in heavy traffic.

My 2022 Pacifica Hybrid has experienced a total loss of motor propulsion THREE times in the last 8 days at highway (or near-highway) speeds. The car issued a warning to "Stop Safely Vehicle will Shut Off Soon" and had a turtle light appear along with a check engine light and I experienced no power going to the wheels on the highway. This included TWO incidents after a recall repair that was completed to supposedly fix this issue.

A message appeared on the dashboard stating the engine would shut off soon. I could not accelerate. This has happened multiple times (at least a dozen since I bought the vehicle in April 2025) and I cannot drive above 70 mph or it will cause the issue to occur. Several times I have been in multi-lane traffic and because you cannot accelerate, I have to try to park on the should across multiple lanes of traffic at high rates of speed while slowing down.

The contact owns a 2022 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that while driving approximately 35 MPH, the vehicle independently accelerated. The contact stated that several unknown warning lights illuminated. The contact was able to stop the vehicle by depressing the brake pedal; however, when the brake pedal was released, the vehicle independently accelerated without the accelerator pedal being depressed. The contact stated that the accelerator pedal failed to respond while being depressed. The contact stated that the failure had occurred three times and occurred while driving at various speeds. The contact stated the failure also occurred while driving at 70 MPH. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who was unable to retrieve any fault codes but informed the contact that the 12-Volt battery was not at full charge. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed, and determined that the accelerator pedal assembly and the main computer had produced fault codes, but the dealer later stated that there were no codes. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and a case was opened but was later closed. The failure mileage was 41,607.

Number of days your vehicle is down: indefinitely as of now there is no fix according to the dealership parts are at least 10 weeks out with them not knowing how to do the install once parts arrive Number of Repair Attempts: there is no fix as of now but the vehicle has broken down 4 times parts for the transmission are on back order (at least ten weeks) and they do not know how to install the parts once they arrive First Repair Attempt Date and Problem: June 10, 2025 The van showed a message saying pull over as the vehicle will stop while we were on the highway heading to my daughters graduation. Initially. We were able to pull over that time and stop driving before the car turned off. we took the vehicle in and they inspected it for the recall. Most recently, the vehicle did it again on the highway. I was not being able to pull all the way over prior to the vehicle, losing power and stopping in the middle of the highway with my children inside. Voice of the Customer / Complaint: as of now there is no timetable for us to be able to return driving the vehicle which is extremely unsafe. We purposely got a seven passenger van to transport our entire family, and at this point we have no way to do. So. The dealership says they are unable to give us a loaner for that, and we are getting no assistance with this with no timetable. As far as when the vehicle will be fixed. Therefore, I’m requesting a buyback of the vehicle so that we can get something to transport our family as the vehicle is down. I am still having to pay for the car note without having anything to Show for it. I cannot drive it as I don’t know when it will shut off. It is currently sitting at the dealer.

I bought a 2022 Pacifica Hybrid in October 2022. About 2 months ago(Feb 2025), while I was driving on the [XXX] highways, my car suddenly showed "Stop Safely Vehicle Will Shut Off Soon" and a turtle symbol. At this time, I was driving 70 MPH and the car started to slowly stop. Then, I tried to drive into a nearby Starbucks to check it out. I turned off the car. Everything was OK such as oil, coolant, a/c, windshield. Then I restarted the car and the "Stop Safely Vehicle Will Shut Off Soon" and the turtle symbol were gone. I thought it was okay, so I continued driving. 5 days ago (XXX), I had a trip to San Antonio. When I was driving close to Austin. My car showed "Stop Safely Vehicle Will Shut Off Soon" and the turtle symbol again. At this time, I stopped on [XXX]. I feel very dangerous for me, my wife and my 2 children. I feel very scared and confused when I am driving on [XXX] and the car stops like that. I feel like our lives are in danger while driving. Then "Stop Safely Vehicle Will Shut Off Soon" and the turtle symbol appear more frequently. My car has appeared "Stop Safely Vehicle Will Shut Off Soon" and the turtle symbol 6 times in 3 days. Yesterday was [XXX]. When I parked in my driveway, "Stop Safely Vehicle Will Shut Off Soon" and the turtle symbol also appeared. Every day, I must take my 2 children to school in my 2022 Pacifica Hybrid. Now, I feel very scared when driving. I do not know when "Stop Safely Vehicle Will Shut Off Soon" and the turtle symbol will appear again and will cause an accident for my family. We sincerely hope that you will consider and request Chrysler to help us check and fix this as soon as possible. Thank you very much. I was renting this vehicle. On my way home on the highway, going about 70 mph, the vehicle suddenly illuminated the check engine light. Soon after, an message appeared on the dash warning me that I needed to stop and that the vehicle would shut off soon. I immediately pulled over and turned at the next county road. However, I did not realize until this point that my engine power was now being limited to almost nothing. As I crossed a railroad crossing and realized I didn't have engine power, I just hoped that I'd be able to cross and not end up dead on the tracks. Thankfully there was still enough engine power being made available to me to cross the tracks safely and park further down the road. I then turned off the vehicle, called the rental emergency hotline, and was actually able to start the vehicle again at that point without the error. However, the check engine light was still illuminated. I drove the rest of the way home with the check engine light on, but had no other encounter of the message warning me that the vehicle would shut off soon.

The vehicles transmission malfunctions causing the vehicle to lose complete power, now without warning. We are unable to accelerate and the vehicle comes to a sudden stop. This vehicle shuts down in the middle of the highway causing us to come to a complete stop while driving on the highway, also on back roads one lane roads, the vehicle completely shuts down causing us to block the road and becomes a hazard. This has been a continuous problem. This will now be the fifth time it has been to the repair shop for the same exact problem. It is covered under the warranty, however, when they fix it, it happens right away within two business days, again without warning causing us To be in danger and becomes a hazard anytime we drive the vehicle. The vehicle has been inspected by the dealership service center many times. They also sent out an engineer from their company to inspect it. We now have no warning like before the problem occurs only after the vehicle loses power. This will be the third complaint I've filed for this same issue. after it's been "fixed and inspected" this last time.

Vehicle suddenly stops and shows the message "Stop Safely Vehicle will shut off soon". Then the vehicle will lose all power and vehicle can crash with little prior warning when on the highway. This is very unsafe and a recall was performed on 1/17/2023 but the problem still persists over and over and is very unsafe. Once the warning happens about 2-5 seconds later the vehicle will shut-off and can crash when driving. This incident has happened several times and is not isolated to once.

On three separate occasions (December 2023-February 2024), while driving in temperatures below freezing, our 2022 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid dashboard gave the following warning, along side the illumination of a red turtle warning light: "Stop Safely. Vehicle will shut off soon." The vehicle then lost the ability to accelerate, and the speed dropped significantly and immediately. Two of the three times, my one and three year old were in the vehicle and there was no shoulder on the 50mph road we were traveling on after sunset. Fortunately, the three times this happened, we were less than a half mile from our home and we coasted downhill to the bottom of our driveway. Our vehicle has now been at a certified Chrysler dealership for three full business days, and the technician "has no idea what is wrong," "is still working on it," "has no idea how long it will take to fix," and "has no rental or loaner cars available" for our family while we wait for our family's mode of Transportation to be returned. They claim they are unable to recreate the issue, so they cannot fix it. We showed them a picture of the dashboard, but that is not enough for them. It is currently 72 degrees in Dayton, OH, and the issue has never occurred in temperatures above 30 degrees. Thus, I doubt they will be able to "recreate" the issue until next winter. They've offered no other options or resolution until they can "recreate the issue."

On Oct. 9, 2022, at approximately 6:30 p.m. EDT, I was braking as I approached a stop sign. For the first second or two of braking, the van slowed normally. Then, as the van was nearly stopped at the stop sign (probably 10 feet ahead of it, and approx. 5 mph or less), while my foot was still gently depressing the brake pedal, the van began to accelerate on its own. In response, I stepped down hard on the brake, lurching the van to a stop. After the hard stop (and explaining it to my family), I gently accelerated through the intersection and parked the van in my driveway. (The stop sign was 2 houses from home.) This was on a residential street, 25 mph speed limit, clear day, dry pavement. Before applying the brakes I had been coasting down the street between 20 and 25 mph. There was no other traffic and no pedestrians. When the van accelerated on its own, we had nearly but not completely come to a stop yet. My foot was still gently depressing the brake to come to a smooth stop. Neither the accelerator nor the cruise control was engaged. With unwanted acceleration while the brake is depressed, I do not think the vehicle is safe to drive. Today (the next morning) I am in the process of calling to have it flatbed-transported to the dealer for inspection. The van is brand new; we've had it 5 weeks, it has 698 miles. No problem or warning prior to this.

Was driving down I-270 with family when the vehicle immediately registered a fault that the hood was open and unable to charge/condition battery. All engine power and speed control was lost at highway speeds and was barely able to get out of the way of traffic. I was able to coast to the shoulder without injury or accident with a few near misses. Opened / closed the hood at the side of the road and the fault didn't clear. 5-10 minutes later vehicle cleared the error and I was able to drive to a local dealership who told me "there is nothing they can do for me". The best option I had after talking with the Chrysler dealership was to to drive home praying my family didn't get stuck again.
