I am reporting a severe, life-threatening mechanical component failure of the front passenger seatbelt assembly on a 2021 Hyundai Palisade. While the vehicle was completely parked, stationary, turned off, and with the ignition keys removed, the front passenger seatbelt experienced a catastrophic static lockup. The occupant had reclined the seat, and the seatbelt accidentally became wrapped around their neck. The seatbelt was never inserted into its buckle receptacle, and the webbing was never fully pulled out to its maximum extension to intentionally engage the Automatic Locking Retractor (ALR) mode. Despite no rapid deceleration, extreme cabin angles, or full extension, the retractor assembly falsely engaged a permanent, one-way ratcheting lock. With every minor movement or breath by the occupant, the mechanism tightened further around their neck and completely refused to release tension. Because the physical obstruction of the occupant's body prevented the belt from retracting fully into the B-pillar to reset the mechanism, the occupant was actively choking. Time became critical, and the decision was made to physically cut the seatbelt webbing to prevent imminent asphyxiation. Because this life-threatening locking loop was triggered by a mechanical failure of a primary safety component—systemically linked to active safety recalls on this vehicle's pretensioner/seatbelt system—I am requesting a formal safety investigation. I demand that Hyundai Motor America issue a corporate variance to fully replace this cut seatbelt assembly at no cost. The failed physical components have been preserved for engineering inspection.

We purchased our palisade in October of 2020 brand new from the dealer. On march 5th 2021 @ 7946 miles on the car we took it in to the dealer because the passenger rear seatbelt had released on its own when braking hard with a child buckled in a booster seat. They said they could not verify the problem. Then again on April 22 2022 @ 37,924 miles we again took the palisade back in because the driver rear middle row seat was showing buckled but it was not buckled and upon wiggling the seat belt it was turning on and off and not buckling. At that time they found the middle row left seat belt buckle not latching intermediately and said it was working again. Since then it has still continued to come unbuckled to this day. I have recently received from Hyundai a National safety recall about the issue and it's going back in for a third time now to resolve the issue. As of currently they will not be able to fix the issue because they do not have the parts and do not have an estimate of when they will be available. I also received a new National safety recall for the side curtain airbags in the third row not to the standards and are a safety concern. This vehicle has been a safety concern from the day I drove it off the lot and thank god only that we are good drivers we did not get into a accident the many many times we have been in the vehicle full of people as it could have been catastrophic and even have cause multiple possible deaths due to the failure of these different equipment during a accident. At this time this vehicle is not safe for my family to be in.

Front seat passenger seatbelt has come unbuckled while the car is in motion. Middle row seat behind the driver the seatbelt has come unbuckled while the car is in motion many times. I've contacted the dealership in Eugene Or several times and they continue to tell me they will have more in "next week" and they will call me to schedule. I've been waiting for many months. The seatbelts come undone so often in the middle row that I won't let anyone sit there. I've reached out to the customer service number and was also told the dealership will call me. I feel my car is unsafe since the seatbelts could come off at anytime. This is a known recall as of September 11, 2025. Recall number 25v607000

The engine oil system failed due to a persistent oil leak that was present from the time of purchase on December 16th 2024. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request and is currently immobile due to a completely seized engine. My safety was put at serious risk because the vehicle has no functioning low oil warning indicator to alert the driver of critically low oil levels. I was driving this vehicle regularly for work with no indication whatsoever that the engine was losing oil. A seized engine can cause sudden and complete loss of vehicle control which puts not only the driver but other drivers and pedestrians at risk. This failure occurred without any warning while the vehicle was in regular use. The oil leak was brought to the selling dealership, Auto Merchants Inc. in Plano Texas, for repair on January 6th 2026. They kept the vehicle overnight and confirmed it was fixed. The problem was not resolved as the vehicle continued losing oil. On March 3rd 2026 I discovered the engine was completely empty and added 6 full quarts of oil with no warning light appearing. I also contacted Hyundai consumer affairs and the Hyundai dealership directly who confirmed the manufacturer warranty had already expired at the time of purchase on December 16th 2024 and declined to cover the repair. The vehicle has not yet been formally inspected by the manufacturer or insurance representatives. The dealership serviced it on January 6th 2026 and claimed the leak was repaired however the engine seized on April 20th 2026 due to continued oil loss. There were zero warning lamps or indicators of any kind prior to the engine seizing completely on April 20th 2026. No low oil warning light appeared at any point during the 4 months I owned this vehicle despite the engine running completely out of oil on three separate occasions. The only symptom prior to full engine seizure was the vehicle sputtering when coming to a stop on April 19th 2026, one day before the engine seized completely

Recall for safety seat belts not repaired in a timely manner. It’s been 2.5 months, I called the first time after one month to see how much longer for the parts to come in and was basically told it is what it is, most people wait over 2 months, that was in January. It is now March and still no repairs done. Finally on an expedited list after this second phone call. Hopefully not too much longer because I don’t feel safe driving my twins in this vehicle.

Subject: Stop-Sale Violation — Hyundai Palisade Recall #25V607000 I purchased a 2025 Hyundai Palisade (VIN [XXX], from Napleton Palatine Hyundai, Illinois. Whenever I’m getting in my car and I’m trying to start it sometimes I will move just a little bit in my seat and my seatbelt will come out of the seatbelt assembly and then my car will automatically put on the emergency brake. This has happened on multiple occasions for my seatbelt will just pop out of the latch without me pushing on the button. This has significantly decrease my confidence that my car will keep me safe in the event of a crash.

My car seatbelt has been coming undone for years- since I bought the car brand new. I immediately reported to Hyundai. They cleaned it and claimed it’s fixed. I left and my seatbelt came undone again. I bring it back and they said it’s recalled but there’s no solution. How is this okay? I am supposed to drive with a faulty seatbelt that unbuckles while driving and Hyundai is going to allow it?? If I crash and it comes undone and I die then what? They have let this problem go on for years with no solution.

The middle row outside seat belts have both not latched when trying to buckle and have come unlatched after buckling and latching. This has happened multiple times on both sides and while the vehicle is in motion. The problem has been reported to a local Hyundai service department but since no remedy has been produced yet, they have not been replaced which makes those seats unusable. This is obviously a huge safety concern to any passenger in the backseat and now have 2 less seats in our SUV. There were no indicators or warning symptoms prior to the seat belts malfunctioning. It first started around April 2024 and is still an issue currently
