transmission, skipping and shuttering and according to dealership not catching gear occurs during slow speeds. When in drive car will roll backwards and when in reverse car will roll forward. Transmission runs high until gear catches. Engine will then go in to neutral until clutch catches.in according to dealership repair will cost $7000-$11,000. i was told this is unusual. And none of it is covered under warranty

Complainant: [XXX] Vehicle: 2020 Ford Edge VIN: [XXX] Current Mileage: Approx. 152,000 miles Target of Complaint: Ford Motor Company / [Don Chalmers Ford] Subject: Request for Goodwill Financial Assistance Due to Documented, Inherent Transmission Manufacturing Defect I am filing this dispute to request financial assistance/cost-sharing from Ford Motor Company for a total transmission failure on my 2020 Ford Edge. While the vehicle is past its standard powertrain warranty, the failure is directly caused by an inherent manufacturing defect that Ford has internally acknowledged and documented. The dealership has quoted $9,000 for a full replacement, an unreasonable financial burden for a known, pre-existing mechanical flaw. The vehicle is experiencing severe shifting difficulties, specifically when attempting to transition the vehicle out of Park into any other gear. A formal diagnostic inspection conducted by the authorized Ford dealership confirmed a total transmission failure. Crucially, the dealership verified that the vehicle's symptoms and mechanical failures match Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) 857 / 20-2190 (tel:857%20/%2020-2190). This internal Ford bulletin specifically addresses harsh engagements, shifting faults, and component degradation within this vehicle's transmission model. The dealership initially denied financial assistance because this vehicle’s specific VIN is not included in safety recall Campaign 20S47. I wish to clarify that I am not arguing a violation of a safety recall. I understand that Campaign 20S47 is a narrow, VIN-specific safety mandate. Instead, my case rests on the fact that the dealership’s own diagnostics verified the exact mechanical failure described in Ford’s internal Technical Service Bulletins. A TSB proves that Ford is fully aware of a widespread, systemic manufacturing defect in these units. The exclusion of my VIN from a safety recall does not negate the fact that my vehicle suff INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

For over a year, engine shudders/jerks when accelerating. I see this has been a repeated complaint by many for a few years now. How is this not a recall?????

Jun 11, 2026Seat belts
Over a dozen times, when my car sits outside in the sun on a hot day, my drivers side seat belt becomes locked in the retracted position. I am unable to use my seatbelt until my car cools down which takes appoximately 15-20 of my AC running on MAX AC. During this time, I either have to sit in my car and not drive or I have to drive without a seatbelt until it unlocks. This is a safety hazard because as a healthcare worker, I need to be able to get to my job when I need to be there. At any given time, I should be able to get into my vehicle and drive immediately with my seatbelt on. No warning lights come up on my dash when this occurs, I just can't put my seatbelt on. I brought the vehicle to the dealership and they said I need to replace my seatbelt for the price of ~$950. This is something that needs to be recalled and repaired at the cost of FORD. I have read numerous people online complaining of the exact same issue with their driver side seatbelt.

This is my wife’s car, I have already had to replace the evap hoses on this car twice due to faulty motor craft purge valves. I also replaced the charcoal canister before the second time I replaced the evap hoses so somewhere in the system there is a faulty part. Now at 80,000 miles my wife’s car is experiencing what many others are calling “shuddering”. How am I supposed to get anywhere in life when I just paid this car off and now I need a new transmission after I have done all services as specified by manufacturer.

At low speeds 20-40 car shifts with a shudder. TSB 21-2389 was issued by Ford which describes problem I am experiencing. Took car to Ford and paid them to complete procedure per TSB. This did not correct problem and after reviewing other Ford Owners it appears or I expect my Torque Converter and/or transmission has gone bad.

My 2020 Ford Edge SEL, has started to do harsh shifting, shuddering, and some hesitation. I have kept up on the maintenance. I have had the transmission fluid drained and replaced already. My car is available for inspection if requested. An independent shop has confirmed the issue. I was informed that the torque convertor might need replaced. It has not been inspected by anyone else, except what is done when getting an oil change at the dealership. No lights came on and I did not receive any warnings. This originally started in December.

I was driving on the highway with my husband and our dog when out of nowhere the panoramic sunroof exploded. We were traveling home and could have been in an accident when it occurred because it sounded like a gunshot hit the car. If we had not been calm during the incident, not only our lives but the lives of everyone around us could have been affected. There were no warnings about this and when we purchased the vehicle in 2023 the dealership didn’t even say anything about a possiblity of this happening. I did research after it happened to make sure there wasn’t a recall we missed and I came across lawsuits because of this.

I bought my car in 2024 and while it was through a private party i have had transmission issues since the day i bought it. It surges very frequently and has since the day I bought it. Today I noticed it has now started surging at idle without. It does it in park and when I put it in drive it surges forward on its own without me having to push in the gas. This is a huge safety issue not only for myself but for others. If I had continued to drive it, it could have jolted forward more forcefully in traffic and hit another car or even a person crossing the road. Being broke down on the side of the road is not something I want to have to do which I understand happens but I feel like not only have I heard terrible things about this year of edges but I’ve experienced it with owning one. I had two mechanics tell me I obviously had a transmission issues since from the start but I haven’t been able to get it fixed yet. I never had a warning or lights in my car come on prior to this issue arising today. I’m getting it looked it later today. I had a few different salesmen tell me at Ford dealerships that the 2020 edges were poorly made and they’ve had complaint after complaint about this very car.

While driving on Sam Houston tollway going 65 mph, I heard a loud explosion scared me and caused me to swerve into the lane next to me narrowly missing the car next to me. I thought I had a blowout I pulled over to the side of the freeway and found it was the sunroof that exploded. This created a serious situation that could have been catastrophic.
