I am reporting a defect with the driver-side sun visor on my 2019 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. The sun visor mounting mechanism is faulty and has broken/detached during normal use. When this occurs, the visor drops down unexpectedly and obstructs the driver’s forward view. This creates a serious safety hazard, as the visor can suddenly block visibility while the vehicle is in motion, increasing the risk of a crash. The failure happened without excessive force or misuse, only routine flipping and positioning of the visor. I am aware that many other owners of 2019 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited vehicles have experienced the same sun visor failure, suggesting a widespread defect in the design or materials used. This appears to be a known and recurring issue affecting multiple vehicles of the same model year. I believe this defect should be investigated as a safety-related issue and considered for a recall, as it directly impacts driver visibility and safe vehicle operation.

There is a water leak from the dash mirror that has not been repaired by the dealership 4 times that has been taken for the same issue. When it is raining, and vehicle is moving the water comes out of the mirror area and prevent a clear visibility in the traffic. It may damage the electrical connection that run by this area or and produces a metal corruption...

The passenger side Sun visor has broken off up inside the ceiling where it’s hinged so now it just drops down. It’s the same issue all the Jeep visors have. Jeep isn’t correcting the defect. They just keep putting the same problem out for the consumer to deal with over & over again & they’re being allowed to do that!!!

Driving my vehicle and around 20,000 miles had all lights come on. Lost power steering wind shield wipers randomly going off and then it goes away once powering off. I took it to my dealer and they worked on it and said nothing was wrong. A week later it happened again. This time the vehicle wouldnt turn back on for about 30 minutes. Going threw a round a bout I will randomly lose all control and almost crash. I have had at least 4 or 5 close calls do to no power steering and lose of traction control. No dealer or mechanic can figure it out. It is throwing 37 codes. HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE ON THESE JEEP FORUMS HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE FOR THE SAME YEAR. NO ONE CAN FIGURE IT OUT. SEVERAL HAVE CRASHED. MY WIFE HAS ALMOST DIED WHEN SHE LOST TRACTION CONTROL IN A BLIZZARD. It has been months and now my vehicle is up to 42000 miles and its sitting there because now I'm to scared to drive it. It gets stuck in park and randomly powers down. This is a serious safety hazard and someone is going to get killed from a crash if this isn't addressed. All codes are related to ABS and CAN BUS but it has only fixed about 5% of the vehicles when they replace those parts. COME INSPECT IT YOURSELF I AM AVAILABLE ANY TIME!!!

The far driver and passenger sides of the windshield do not defrost in sub freezing weather. The windshield defrost duct vents are not adequate to force hot air to either side of the center vent. This results in windshield and wiper icing over in temperatures below ~20° F causing drastically reduced visibility 12 or more inches from each side of the windshield. The problem has been mush discussed on the JL Wrangler Forum at this thread: https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/question-regarding-the-windsheld-defrost.15276/ Also described in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PlKtxsKZnI4

The front windshield defrost doesn’t work as it should. The windshield will ice up on the driver side and passenger side and create major visibility issues. The blower only seems to blow heat to the center of the windshield and not the sides

I noticed during colder time the windshield was not defrosting the edges of the windshield. I took it to the dealer to have them check my defroster, They claim it is working as intended. So I just let the windshield defrost more before driving. But during recent snow storm, I noticed the defroster only defrosted the center of the windshield while driving and with constant snow the build up on the edges was making the edges not clear causing blind spots. This is very dangerous as view is obstructed.

The defrost is absolutely terrible. Both left and right vents do not push air causing the right and left side of the windshield to freeze up and windshield wipers to freeze up. Had to pull over in an unsafe location because visibility went to zero and created a very unsafe situation for me and my family.

Driver's side sun visor attachment to roof fails unexpectedly causing visor to fall and obstruct driver's vision. Jeep is well aware of the problem and has failed to provide a reliable fix or repair. My visor has been replaced twice already and failed for the third time yesterday. Vehicle is 2 years 4 months old and has 15,000 miles.

Wipers freezing up due to lack of de-over element and / or adequate heat from the front windshield defrosters (heat). Forced to pull up a number of times during bad storms to fix.

LOWERED THE WINDSHIELD PER THE USER MANUAL FOR THE FIRST TIME ON 4/3/21. 2 OF THE 4 BOLTS HOLDING THE WINDSHIELD TO THE FRAME WERE PRESENT BUT NOT TIGHTENED. UNKNOWN IF THEY LOOSENED WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, WHICH HAS APPROXIMATELY 20,000 MILES CURRENTLY, OR WHETHER THEY WERE LOOSE FROM THE FACTORY.

I HAVE NOTICED AT HIGH SPEEDS WHEN I AM DRIVING AND I GO OVER A POT HOLE OR EVEN WHEN I GO OVER A RUMBLE STRIP I GET AN AGGRESSIVE STEERING WHEEL SHAKE. ANOTHER ISSUE WOULD BE THE PASSENGER VISOR IT BROKE WHEN MY VEHICLE ONLY HAD 36,600K MILES. I HARDLY USE THE VISOR ONE DAY MY PASSENGER OUT THE VISOR DOWN TO COVER THE SUN FROM FACE AND IT JUST FELL FROM THE CORNER.

IT WAS EITHER DEC 9 OR 21 2020. I WAS GOING TO AN APPOINTMENT, IT WAS SLEATING AND SNOWING SO I HAD THE DEFROSTER ON FULL BLAST HEAT ALL THE WAY UP. BOTH PASSENGER AND DRIVERS SIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD WAS BUILDING UP WITH ICE. I HAD TO PULL OVER TO CLEAR THE ICE OFF MY WIPERS AND WINDSHIELD. THE LACK OF PROPERLY WORKING DEFROSTER IS A HUGE SAFETY HAZARD. I COULDN'T SEE VERY WELL AT ALL!! I DIDN'T KNOW THIS WAS SOMETHING I COULD REPORT UNTIL NOW. SORRY IT HAPPENED ALMOST 2 MONTHS AGO.

IT WAS A BIGHT SUNNY AFTERNOON WHEN I WAS DRIVING MY NEW 2019 JEEP HOME FROM THE DEALER, WITH ONLY 39 MILES ON THE MOTOR, I PULLED DOWN THE SUN VISOR WHILE DRIVING TO BLOCK THE SUN...THE VISOR FELL OUT OF THE MOUNTING BRACKET, HANGING BY THE WIRE CONNECTING THE LIGHTS FOR THE MIRROR, BLOCKING ABOUT 3/4 OF THE WINDSHIELD, AND OBSTRUCTING MY VIEW WHILE DRIVING 100%. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER & PUSH IT BACK INTO THE MOUNTING BRACKET, ONLY TO HAVE IT FALL OUT WHEN HITTING ANY BUMP, NO MATTER THE SPEED. IT EVEN FELL DOWN WHEN GOING OVER A SPEED BUMP IN THE PARKING LOT I HAD PULLED INTO AT LESS THAN 5 MPH. THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO THE PASSENGER SIDE VISOR AFTER HAVING THE DRIVER'S SIDE REPLACED BY THE DEALERSHIP. I HAD READ ABOUT THIS SAME COMPLAINT ON THE NHTSA 'S WEBSITE. NOT SURE HOW THIS ISN'T A RECALL GIVEN THE DRIVER'S VIEW BEING OBSTRUCTED 100% WITHOUT WARNING. THE DEALERSHIP DIDN'T SEEM TO SURPRISED BY THIS DEFECT, AND SAID IT WAS "COMMON"...HELLO?!?!?

Jan 6, 2021Visibility & wipers

BOTH THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SUN VISORS FALL OUT OF THE MOUNTING SOCKETS WHILE DRIVING OR IF A SMALL BUMP IS HIT. WHEN VISORS FALL DOWN IT BLOCKS ALMOST HALF OF THE DRIVERS VISIBILITY AND FORCES THE DRIVER TO EITHER TRY TO PUSH IT BACK INTO THE 'CLIP' OR SOCKET WHILE DRIVING, OR PULL OVER AND TRY TO PUSH IT IN. DEALERSHIP CLAIMS THE ISSUE WAS CAUSED BY AN 'OUTSIDE FORCE' AND THE SMALL PLASTIC CLIPS INSIDE THE MOUNTING BRACKET BROKE. NO 'OUTSIDE FORCE' WAS CAUSED ON BOTH VISORS TO CAUSE BOTH CLIPS TO BREAK. THEY ARE SMALL PLASTIC PIECES THAT HAVE WORN IN LESS THAN A YEAR FROM NORMAL USE OF FLIPPING AND SWIVELING THE VISORS. DUE TO THE SEVERITY OF LOSS OF VISIBILITY AND HOW OFTEN IT HAPPENS, IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE.

Sep 24, 2020Visibility & wipers

BOTH THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE SUN VISORS DETACH COMPLETELY IF THE CAR HITS A BUMP, POTHOLE, SPEEDBUMP ETC...CAUSING THE VISION OF THE WINDSHIELD TO BECOME OBSTRUCTED UNTIL THE VISOR IS MOVED OUT OF SIGHT. THIS APPEARS TO BE DUE TO A FAULTY PLASTIC RETENTION WASHER THAT BECOMES DISLODGED. THIS BEHAVIOR IS ALSO ABLE TO BE REPRODUCED WHEN ATTEMPTING TO USE THE SUN VISOR IN ITS DESIGNED INTENT OF FOLDING UP, DOWN, AND DETACHING/EXTENDING TO BLOCK SUN FROM THE DRIVERS VIEW.

PLEASE CHECK IF THERE IS A FLAW IN 2018-20 JEEP WRANGLER WINDSHIELDS. THEY EASILY CRACK, MULTIPLE TIMES. THERE ARE ENTIRE WEBSITES AND COMMUNITY GROUPS EXPERIENCING THIS PROBLEM. I ALSO OWN A 2014 WRANGLER, AND HAVE REPLACED THE WINDSHIELD TWICE. WITH MY 2019 MODEL, I HAVE HAD MULTIPLE CRACKS AND REPLACED TWO WINDSHIELDS IN UNDER 3500 MILES OF A BRAND NEW CAR. YET, THE 2019 MODEL HAS A MORE ANGLED WINDSHIELD THAN THE PREVIOUS MODEL. THE ISSUE OCCURS AT ROAD TO HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND SIMPLE PEBBLES. AGAIN, MY TWO REPLACED WINDSHIELDS HAD MULTIPLE STREAKS, CRACKS, SPIDERS, ET AL BEFORE REPLACING. SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THE GLASS JEEP/MOPAR USE.

THE WINDSHIELDS ON THE JEEP WRANGLERS CONTINUE TO BE A BANE OF OWNERS EVERYWHERE. THEY ARE MUCH TOO EASILY CHIPPED, CRACKED, AND DAMAGED OTHERWISE BECAUSE OF THE TERRIBLE LACK OF RAKE AND AERODYNAMICS TO REFLECT SMALL OBJECTS HARMLESSLY OFF THEM LIKE MOST OTHER AUTOS. THEY ARE ALSO A VISIBILITY HAZARD AS THEY ATTRACT SO MANY BUGS THAT CANNOT BE EASILY WASHED OFF WITH THE CONVENTIONAL WIPERS/FLUID. THIS HAPPENS ON A CONSISTENT BASIS ACROSS THE COUNTRY. JUST RESEARCH ALL THE WINDSHIELD REPLACEMENT CLAIMS FOR JEEP.

REAR SIDE WINDOWS ON 2019 JEEP WRANGLER BLEW OUT WHILE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, EVEN WHEN INSTALLED PROPERLY. ON OUR JEEP, THE WINDOW DIDN'T COMPLETELY FALL OUT, SO IT WAS DISCONNECTED AND WAS HANGING. OTHERS I HAVE KNOWN HAVE LOST THEIR WINDOWS ON THE HIGHWAY AND HAD TO WAIT WEEKS OR MONTHS FOR REPLACEMENT WINDOWS BECAUSE THERE AREN'T ENOUGH AVAILABLE TO DEALERS.

How to use these: a complaint is one owner’s report, filed voluntarily and published unverified. Patterns matter more than any single story. If several owners describe the same failure at similar mileage, put that system at the top of your pre-purchase inspection list. Back to the full 2019 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited 392 verdict →
