What 721 owners told NHTSA about the 2019 Jeep Wrangler 4-door 4xe

Electrical issue resulting in loss of power steering, speedometer, gas gauge etc. all warning lights come on including ABS BRAKES, VEHICLE TRACTION CONTROL, AUTOMATIC START, CHECK ENGINE, 4WD, BRAKE LIGHT. car will not turn off when lights are on. Repeat problem despite being in dealership 3times.

2019 Jeep Wrangler Sahara numerous fault vehicle slows down speedometer loss abs brake warning ,4 wheel drive service warning, blind spot warning, complete loss of power while driving. Taken to the Jeep dealer was told no fault codes available come get it. So making preparation to pick up vehicle finally dealer service reported that vehicle faulted with those code. I had the vehicle towed prior to service due to the transmission not being able to shift into any gear. There are several reports online with same problem total electrical system failure. Keep n mind vehicle has approximately 7500 miles. Vehicle currently under what they call Star service because Dealer has no idea to fix it.

Dealer stated "thats how a jeep drives" and did fix the other issues i also brought it in for. Only a few years later just after i cross 40,000 miles, I decide to plan a road trip but dont want the hassle of constant steering corrections on the trip. I notice while seaching the internet for aftermarket steering fixes that Jeep had a TSB for the exact same issue I have and others who were still under warranty were getting the new sterring components and loving their Jeep! I am still frustrated that the dealer says its no longer covered for me even though all the new models have the new steering components now. The TSB should have been communicated to owners to be able to safely handle their Jeep at highway speeds even in windy conditions. Instead I just dont drive it most of the time.

2019 Jeep Wrangler Sahara Unlimited---while driving the vehicle on a city street, without any warning, all of the dash lights and any/all warnings lights started to flash. Within 200 feet of this occurring, the vehicle lost power, including ability to control the steering, and the car came to an immediate stop. During this shut down instance, I was able to vigorously hold the steering wheel to guide the car to the side of the road, avoiding the traffic that came. After the car shut down, the dash lights and windshield wipers were still going off. It still had electrical power. It would not start back up. I had to have it towed to the dealership. When driving on a highway at speeds above 50 mph, i hit a bump in the road and my front end started to shake violently and also caused my steering wheel to bounce around. As i slowed down the bouncing reduced but it did not stop completely until i came to a complete stop off to the side of the road. There is a customer satisfaction notice out for a steering damper that i am having scheduled, but this seems like it should be a safety issue and a recall.

“Death wobble” or uncontrolled front steering vibration and violent shaking. Steering gear box was replaced at 12,000 miles. Replacement gear box seemed to be ok for about 15,000miles. At about 17000 miles(29,000 total vehicle miles) the vehicle experienced a violent shaking when on a freeway and going over a bridge overpass bump at about 75-80mph. The shaking would not stop until braking occurred nearly causing a rear end collision from car behind. Dealer has not been able to recreate the wobble in part because they will not drive over 70mph(the local freeway speed limit). The steering gear box “fix” for this problem was clearly not a robust corrective measure if death wobble reappears at 15000 miles.

Experienced the death wobble. Front tires began to oscillate violently causing loss of steering control on a highway. Went on for ~20 seconds, almost ran off the road and would have crashed. No indications prior to event, smooth highway speed driving right up to extreme violent shaking. Fighting with the wheel to steer to stay on the road was ineffective. The only thing that saved us was it suddenly stopped on its own. Before this event there were several short, less severe instances of wobbling.

There is now severe drifting to the right, the original dealer has denied the issue since day one. When on the highway going over 55 MPH and hitting a bump the steering wheel and entire vehicle begins to move rapidly and violently from side to side. This causes your vehicle to feel like it's losing control. The only way to stop this from continuing is to slow the vehicle down significantly. My Jeep wanders tremendously, at times it’s hard to keep it on the road. And sometimes it will veer to the left or right unexpectedly. I’ve almost hit two incoming cars because of this. This problem needs to be fixed on this model vehicle immediately or someone is going to get hurt or killed. While in 38 degree weather, the steering wheel locked up when turning to the left. Turning to the right was unaffected. This occurred immediately after engine start. I used a far larger amount of force than usual to push the steering wheel in an attempt to get it to unlock. This eventually did work, but every time I tried to turn to the left, the steering wheel felt like it was catching on something and required more force than I was accustomed to. This continued to happen though it eased as the drive went on and the car warmed up. The next day at around 35 degree weather the same thing occurred though not as bad as that first instance. It kept feeling stuck when turning left and the more I pushed it the more it eased. This did not happen over the summer when the temperature was repeatedly over 60 degrees. The binding occurred at both high and low speed.

While driving with traffic at highway speeds, bumps in the road surface cause the Front End of my 2019 JEEP WRANGLER to bounce violently and I have to reduce the speed to around 45 MPH to have the suspension return to normal. I have brought the vehicle to Golling Jeep Dealership 3 times. They replaced the Steering Damper in May of 2021which temporarily resolved the issue. I brought the car back in August and September where the dealership reports they could not duplicate the failure. In a recent Detroit Free Press Article, this condition was called an "Alleged Death Wobble". Golling tells me there is nothing wrong. There was no accident, no known damage and there was no warning of any kind. I just watch for bumps and drive slower - not with the speed of traffic on I 696 in Oakland County Michigan. I own a 2019 Jeep Rubicon and the steering wheel rotates violently (~25° back and forth) while driving at any speed and when I hit a bump on the road. Even a small bump on the road causes this problem. I have researched this and some Jeep websites call it a ‘death wobble’. 25° violent steering wheel rotation at 70 mph is very startling it is an extremely unsafe. It almost caused me to crash on more than 3 occasions. There are no apparent recalls about this issue but this problem is reported on several Jeep websites. It moves from one side to the other in the lane, its not easy to control. you need to drive with both hands all the time and be extra careful you don't enter a different lane. it;'s happen several times. it doesn't feel safe and looks like i'm not the only one.
