The electronic power steering system failed during track driving. Driving aggressively for almost 30 minutes, the power steering assist failed to “assist”; the vehicle was able to be steered but only with great effort in turning the steering wheel causing a loss of control. The message “Service Power Steering” message appeared on the instrument cluster. Exiting the track and turning the vehicle off then on allowed the steering system to return to normal.

When driving all gages stop working all lighting inside and outside when driving. Happens sporadically. Took to Chevrolet and they said needed a battery so i changed and still happened. Took to performance shop and left for almost a month where a diagnosis was made that it was a corroded rear bumper wiring harness. I also found this problem on a forum with other cameros. He cleaned and it did not act up for a couple of weeks then on my way to work early one morning this week (dark outside) running approx 60 mph all of my lights went out again. My car still runs just no lights. Called Chevrolet to report safety issue with no resolution

Power steering on vehicle failed causing the steering to lock up while driving with almost no ability to stear the car. This problem was found and issued a recall on earlier years but not mine although the car was built the same time as those earlier years.

Bulletin No.: 19-NA-018 Shake and/or Shudder During Light Throttle Acceleration Between 40 and 128 KM/H (25 and 80 MPH) at a Steady State. Safety Issues: slipping clutch, worn-out gears, or low transmission fluid, problems with the torque converter or other transmission components. After several visits to the dealer, the problem was diagnosed by a service bulletin in 2023. The vehicle was inspected by a Chevrolet dealer. I received no warnings prior to the failure of the issue. This problem appeared at 30k miles but became severe at 43k miles.

While cruising (not accelerating) or accelerating very slowly, the transmission goes into a shutter. I do believe this would be caused by the torque converter. Could be faulty. Seems to be a very common trend.

2019 Chevy Camaro transmission is shuddering. In other words it feels like my car is running over rubber strips on the road between 40 mph to 80mph. I know there is several TSBs that GM has put out on this issue with the A8. Went to Lynn Smith Chevrolet on 07/06/2023 and was told since my car is out of warranty it would cost me 625 dollars to have the transmission flushed and have the new synthetic transmission fluid in it. They said that’s the first step GM wants service depts to do. I’m sorry but if GM knows this is a problem then there should be a recall on it. I know there are already class action lawsuits on this problem. I can’t afford to have my transmission drained 2 or three 3 times. It is causing safety risk when you accelerate and lose power on the interstate or it is sluddering as you pick up speed at a red light.Thought the problem was my tires so had 2 new sets put on and realized it wasn’t the tires.

While accelerating my Camaro begins to shake violently kind of like a shuttering. It happens on cruise control also. The violent shaking makes it hard to keep control of the vehicle. I looked online and found THOUSANDS of owners with the same problems. The weirdest thing is that my check engine light comes on for a few days then goes off for months. This absolutely needs to be recalled! I’m going in for my second opinion tomorrow but the last mechanic said I can replace the torque converter or that I might have a misfire in my engine. People need to be compensated for these expensive repairs, especially sense the car is so expensive. Gm had to know these parts were faulty. In no way shape or form, is there this many complaints about a vehicles parts and as a company they knew nothing about it. These mishaps are extremely dangerous and could be life threatening.

The rear window is separating from the roof. It seems to be a common problem with certain Camaros and other type GM convertibles. The original roof was replaced on this vehicle for same problem. The replaced rear window, roof is now separating from the roof again. (in less than 2 years since the original roof was replaced) GM/Chevrolet's only fix is to replace the entire roof. It appears to be a manufacturing defect with the glue/adhesive in the manufacturing process. Chevy will not honor or stand behind their product and want me to pay for the entire roof replacement. It is a known issue among Convertible Camaro owners. Chevy even issued a Technical service bulletin on this issue in November of 2019. Bulletin # 17-NA-216. It seems GM will only fix this issue if the vehicle within the 3 year 36,000 mile warranty. I believe this is a safety issue because the rear window could shatter while driving or become loose and fly off and hit other vehicle while at highway speed.

After driving approximately 4 hours at highway speeds of 65- 70 mph the steering became very difficult to move, then suddenly the car jolted in the intended direction creating an need to compensate back in other direction. Same issue encountered I had to force the steering in the direction to correct and stay in lane, again jolting in the opposite direction. This happened repeatedly until I could exit the highway. During city travel car responded normally. On return home after approximately 4 hours driving again, same situation no control of steering. Extremely dangerous situation, car is not road worthy. Brought to dealer, response after 3 days in shop - no codes so nothing to repair. Failure of Camaro steering due to rack and pinion, and control boards are found for many similar events during proceeding years of the car.

While driving I retracted the convertible roof and it wouldn't close. The "top secure" indicator came on, how ever it was not secure. This caused excessive attention off the road and since it was raining caused water damage. I took the car to Cox Chevrolet in Bradenton, Fl. service representative was Ray Ph# 9417492674. I showed him the picture of another customer with the same issue that had his car covered under recall. There must be a part or design issue if both sides have broken with exact similarities at different times and they are the identical parts. Ray said to contact Cheverolet since the dealership cannot cover the repair. I contacted Chevrolet customer service at Ph# 8002221020 and that rep said, your car is not covered because it was manufactured at a different plant location. I asked what does it matter which manufacturing plant it was if it's identical parts? The rep had no answer. They were going to charge me $745 to fix the issue. I explained, this car has already been here for the exact same issue on the driver side and you replaced everything because it was under warranty now it happens on the passengers side and your not covering the cost. Attached is the invoice from Cox Chevrolet and the invoice with details of another customer.

The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Camaro. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, while steering the vehicle wobbled without warning. The contact stated that the wobble occurred with the rear wheels. The contact stated that the inside tread on the rear tires was worn and the tires needed to be replaced. The contact had taken the vehicle to a dealer where they performed a diagnostic test and found no failure with the vehicle. As the failure persisted, the rear tires were replaced for a second time. The contact took the vehicle back to the dealer and provided the same result. The contact then took the vehicle to Advantage Chevrolet of Bridgeview (8200 S Harlem Ave, Bridgeview, IL 60455) where he was informed that the four wheels were loose, the lower control arm needed to be replaced and a four-wheel alignment was performed. The contact had the vehicle serviced by the dealer; however, the failure persisted, and the contact replaced all four tires. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000.

I WAS DRIVING STRAIGHT ON AUGUST 7, 2019 JUST OFF OF SHORT CUT ROAD (JUST A REGULAR STREET) SOMETIME AFTER 3PM AND BEFORE 4PM IN MARYLAND WITH MY SUNROOF NOT FULLY OPENED (FIRST STAGE). IT WAS NOT RAINING. WHILE DRIVING, I HEARD A VERY LOUD SOUND AS IF A GUN WENT OFF. I THEN WAS SHATTERED WITH GLASS. I LOOKED UP AND COULD SEE STRAIGHT THROUGH AND SAW THAT THE SUNROOM SHATTERED. I STOPPED AND LOOKED AT THE DAMAGE. BASICALLY, THE SUNROOF JUST EXPLODED. THE CAR WAS NOT HURT OTHER THAN THE SUNROOF. GLASS WAS EVERYWHERE INSIDE THE CAR AND ON ME. I WAS NOT HURT AND I PROCEEDED BACK HOME. I CALLED MY INSURANCE COMPANY GEICO WHEN I GOT HOME ON AUGUST 7, 2010. TODAY, I TOLD PEOPLE AND THEY TOLD ME TO GO TO YOUR WEBSITE AND PUT IN COMPLAINT. I WILL BE CALLING THE DEALERSHIP TODAY. I HAVE NO PHOTO.

How to use these: a complaint is one owner’s report, filed voluntarily and published unverified. Patterns matter more than any single story. If several owners describe the same failure at similar mileage, put that system at the top of your pre-purchase inspection list. Back to the full 2019 Chevrolet Camaro With Recaro verdict →
